And before the draft, coach Tim said in the news, that he would like to get a wing player type of a player - Vanlandingham might be the answer to his wish!

Val Acuna failed to live-up to the expectations as a the next great outside shooter out of UE.

what i noticed about ross..he can be a complete player if he shoots his jumpshots and 3 pointers...he is great on defense, rebounding and passing (assists) if he can just get those shots far away from the basket he will be star trust me.. just saying my inputs.. :)

from a basketball insider perspective,

the problem why Chris Ross is being shopped around is not with regards to his talent its more to him not being able to connect with the ordinary "masang" basketball fan.

in the end this is still business.

well said sir unlike barroca who on the first look parang player lang nA nkikita mo sa mga baranggay court... he he he if you know what i mean...;)

This could be likened to superstar boxers like Tyson who have such lavish lifestyles and astronomic cost of living that they never think that their income generating capabilities would diminish very soon. That's why you can see boxers fighting way beyond their shelf life.
Not all PBA players but some, can be attributed to lack of foresight about how their income is tied to their athletic ability and skills that is at risk every time they play in the court (like Eugene Tejada). I am not sure if PBA or PBA Players union have a program like the NBA where rookies are taught how to handle their finances and on and off court demeanor to prepare for the future. The program ideally should be available on an ongoing basis to all players not only rookies.

At the end of the day, PBA is entertainment and a business. If you are barely contributing or worse glued to the bench when you're age is mid 30ish and have a big salary, chances are your ROI to your team is very low and you can consider your job at risk and should not be surprised if you team managers make "barat" your salary. They are just doing their job and sad to say, they are not charitable institutions.

Before the PBA has such a program wherein the rookie draftees were supposed to attend seminars. I remember one good seminar was conducted by the wife of Danny Ildefonso who shared how she was able to save the earnings out of Danny's basketball contract and invest it in buying a number of Condominium Units. Those units are rented-out to foreign imports and newly arrived Fil-foreign players, but instead of the players the Ildefonsos only deal directly to the PBA Team which pays the lease for the corresponding player. However the young players are disinterested in attending said seminars and that would have PBA renting Hotel Conference Rooms that's empty except for the speaker which they have paid, so the PBA stop doing said activity.

But Mark Barroca has more fans than Chris Ross had when he was still with the Purefoods franchise. Don't let the looks fool you but Mark has his own Fans Club within the BMeg Planet they even treat his wife, Russel Alinea like a Queen.

I want to tell you I am not amused with your comments, as those are uncalled for insults about the player. I want you to know a lot of the players are close friends of mine. I do not like you demeaning any player and making it look like a joke.

More rigodon in the works

Barroca to Meralco, San Mig Coffee getting Vanlandingham and Global Port ending-up with Ross.

Teams are really busy firming-up their respective line-ups. You could probably call the 2012 Season the Total Make-over season after all the wheeling and dealing are all finalized and approved by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud.

huh!? i thought mang Pardo's philosophy is "if ain't broke, why fix it?"

but RSA wants more championships for SMC teams, so even if its not broke with the kind of re-tooling the other teams are doing they must not be left behind and so they at least have to do some improvements to the weaknesses they had last season.

And as notede by Cryotek, Coach Tim Cone voiced out a need for another long-range shooter who could sub for James and who could also make others think twice if both he and James are fielded at the same time. Remember in the Triangle the need for a "natural" point guard is not that much.

Sir Nardy, as you've already stated in your post, does it mean that this trade is now almost a done deal? Thanks.

But why Bmeg traded immediately Sean Anthony on the draft day? I'd really thought they have a steal by trading their 9th pick + Val to Global Port for Anthony...

all trades is up in the air, in this case all the three teams must agree first before said deal is to be submitted for approval by Comm Chito Salud.

If at least one of the teams disagrees ..... another offer is going to be made.

there are just a lot of negotiations happening, just like in the tenorio trade everything could have been finished earlier but Mikee demanded a better deal it was only finalized when Miller was included in the equation and all parties were satisfied.

im not insulting him or any player if you look closely about my comment ..you pertained to masa and im just telling that he looks like a masa player more than ross as ross is a fil am and looks like a fil am unlike barroca whose really like pinoy player you can see in baranggay courts,,, i just dont know why you dnt like my commens as this is only a forum where you cannot judge a person basing in his comments only..i may look like you can hate me for everything but i want to tell you sir that meet me first then you can judge me after that...;) peace yo

exactly my point!

kaya ang sarap sana isampal sa mukha ni mang Pardo ang sagot nun sinabi nya "why Gilas still need players from SMC teams; if ain't broke, why fix it?"

trans: SMC PBA clubs' management are full of a$$h0le$

according to certain very reliable source which I cannot reveal, a certain group called-up Barako during the draft proceedings not to use its #5 pick on a certain player. This is not about basketball anymore but politics. I would rather not discuss about it as I might get into big trouble. There are just a lot of things happening in this business which should not be happening.

I understand you, sir...I know what you're talking about!
I've already heard this before the draft and it seems correct and you're right, its not appropriate to divulged this in forum.
Hopefully, Bmeg can get more in this trade, a future pick should be included.

Well unlike Marcus Douthit, Asi Taulava is being considered to play as a "Asian Import", the same classification when Zaid and Islam Abbas and Sam Daghlas, Michael Madanly of Syria, Lee Hsueh-lin, Lin Chih-chieh and Chen Shin-an of Chinese-Taipei, etc played at the CBA.

In the CBA, the bottom 5 teams are allowed to sign-up one Asian Import in addition to the normal 2 Foreign Imports per team.

Naturalized players' Marcus Douthit of the Philippines and Jackson Vroman of Lebanon are not considered for the "Asian Import" classification. Matt Frieje who also used to play at the CBA as a Foreign Import is also not considered by the CBA authorities as "Asian".

Sheryl Reyes who represents both Asi and Eric Menk is actually scheduled for a trip to Mainland China.

tweet from SHERYL REYES ‏(@FemaleAgentSR):

"just got an offer sheet from CBA CHINA FOSHAN TEAM VERY INTERESTING"

remember CBA teams offers bigger contracts than PBA teams do with regards to Foreign Imports. I wonder how they pay Asian Imports but it looks Sam Daghlas, the Abbas brothers and Michael Madanli are very happy with the kind of contracts that they have gotten.

IF ERIK IS SIGNING WITH GINEBRA...then that only leaves taulava..... wow imagine taulava in china ..it's a nice move but i hope he still plays in the pba as he can still dominate the league because of his conditioning and also because of lack on quality local centers..

actually you can judge a person by the comments they make.

as what Matthew 15:18 says: "But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.'"

it implies "What you say is what you are"..

But Billie Joe (of Green Day) says otherwise;

Do as I say not as I do because
The shit's so deep you can't run away
I beg to differ on the contrary
I agree with every word that you say

Talk is cheap and lies are expensive
My wallet's fat and so is my head
Hit and run and then I'll hit you again
I'm a smart ass but I'm playing dumb

i trust Billie Joe's words more than Matthew's.

/kidding people. Lighten up.
