They can't develop their rookies, what do you expect? Nava could be a Ross or Cabagnot replacement but they buried him on the bench.. he's an Asian import in Korea doing fine numbers... SMB is also a not good destination if you want to start (or restart for veterans) your career.. look what happened to Vic Manuel, Jeron Teng, even Brondial they put him on the bench... They Pessumal few years back but they not give him a chance, he could be a Lassiter's replacement, but now he lost his confidence due to benching... Not all time they can harvest anytime, they have to develop players on their own....

Avan Nava is a bench warmer in KBL..

Its just a cycle. Like any great teams before them. You created one you ride it as long as you can as a pledge for their services and a reward for their loyalty. Once it does not work anymore then start to overhaul it. When will you overhaul that is a difficult question as you don't know when a player can still be serviceable. Some can do it past their prime and exit gracefully. And you don't want just to cut players like Arwin early as you don't know the future and move on to Tantua. This was not a successful transition. You might get the first part right but not always the next part. The Cycle of Basketball.

But still probably a good player if he plays for other teams.. remember TNT has interested on him before SMB came to the picture.. TNT can't sign him because SMB have his rights (w/c is sucks)... He has good impression at TNT practice and mosof their scrimmage before season starts... If SMB knows how to develop players, Nava can be a good back up role PG for them...

Fine numbers? What is his 3pt attempt or percentage in KBL to conclude that

He have some good games in KBL, 2 18 pt game performance and 1 17 pt game performance.. not that consistent but still fine numbers.. he can't get opportunity that he needs.. Maybe he was signed by TNT maybe he will get more opportunities since only Castro and Nambatac are regular PG rotation there or even teams like ROS..

He's not that totally a bench warmer.. he had some good games in KBL.. Lack of opportunities hunt him.. if he gets that opportunity, he will shine, Just like Lemetti for ROS.. Put him in other teams and he will delivers.. Remember TNT had interest on him but SMB have his rights due to the league rules for rookie picks, that's why TNT can't sign him...

but still a bench warmer.. why KBL team didnt re sign him if he’s good you perceive him to be? his avg. is not that good in KBL..

If SMB is looking for a Ross replacement, they should take a look at Epistola, a serviceable defensive PG for KCC in the KBL. Shut down KBL MVP alvano last season in the playoffs. Thats why even with lacking offense, he was resigned. I don't know next season though if KCC is looking to upgrade their Asian quota

But he's not yet entering PBA draft.. But we're hoping he will join someday...

Bench warmer is totally on the bench and not used at all just like Kyt Jimenez or a Raymond Aguilar.. Nava played some games there.. and remember, he was injured some of their games, that's why he was not used in some of their games... If he played for other PBA teams and still benched then we can argue your sentiments here.. remember TNT had interest on him and want to sign him but because SMB had their rights then TNT can't sign him (w/c is sucks).. Dave ildelfonso also hardly get minutes there, can you tell him that he's not good too? Little sample size can't define if he's bad or not... And remember SMB is very notorious on benching rookies.. Can you tell the last time SMB trust on a rookie except Junmar?

He wasnt even use in EASL.. and he wasnt sign back by his team. Why are you high with nava? Eh you' don't watch his in KBL. Heck you never watch foreign leagues.. you rely on stats..

SMB can't even used Jeron Teng enough.. So why I believe in you? Can you tell when is the last time SMB trusting their rookies? They wasted AVO, Pessumal, Heruela, etc.. to a few.. Nava is a 1st rounder in last draft.. TNT had interest on him before SMB sucked Nava due to stupid ruling.. Are you better than TNT management? TNT is not stupid unlike SMB on treating newbies.. Kim Aurin will have same treatment as Nava if he was signed by SMB.. I dare you the truth...

I will remeber this post of yours.

When a local or a college player who have similar situation people here say that if he is good he will be used. Dont give special treatment for local players, that why local players dont improve.

But if its Nava, lets give him chances to show his worth.

Why the treatment is special?

I didn't tell like that.. my point here is smb don't trust or used their rookies... Anytime they drafted a rookie then they will waste it.. When was the last time SMB developed their own drafted player after Junmar? Even in the past smb is not keen on rookies.. I'm still have benefit of a doubt for Nava or any other SMB drafted rookies, I'm sure if Nava played with ROS or any other teams who have trust on rookies then he will have his worth or we can say if he's bust or not.. Imagine if Lemetti or let's say Policarpio drafted by SMB, they will like get the same fate as Nava or the likes of AVO with SMB... Because SMB is sucks on developing their own drafted players... Ginebra and TNT are better in terms of developing players on their own than SMB despite all of those 3 doing lopsided trades too... Ginebra have Scottie, Cu, RJ as their own players, while Japeth gets his confidence playing in Ginebra.. TNT also doing same, Khobuntin is already dropped by Dyip before gave him a chance at TNT and proved his worth now, Kim Aurin also developed by TNT.. Castro became a legend with TNT and now they giving a chance with Galinato and Razon... While SMB doesn't have that except maybe for Junmar or some extend Ross....

Lol Robert. Ross was not drafted nor developed by San Miguel. Coca Cola drafted him and he was a regular starter for Meralco for about 3 years before SMB got him.

To be fair Ross came to SMB with practically no shooting same with Arwind. Both developed their shooting enough to keep defenses honest against JMF. At least most of the time. IRC he came to SMB as a good passer but became more known for his defense.

But he became better at SMB, he's more polished with SMB, Same as Japeth to Ginebra or Khobuntin to TNT.. unlike the likes of Perez, Pringle, Oftana, etc.. that they are already good before being traded... I can't remember when Ross enters PBA, he was well known as member of legendary death 5 of SMB...
