I guess they are maximizing their money. On the other hand, giving a break for skills improvement and the like will improve their teams marketability. They can increase the games. The frequency of games can still be increased.
Correct but the teams will complain if they lose because of fatigue..and especilly we are into national team we need our guys to be well rested and fresh

If fatigue's an issue, maybe teams can explore this tried-and-tested concept called "rotating your lineups"? A lot of teams do that these days, bar Tom Thibodeau-coached teams.

Tim Cone hates it lol..

That is what I've been longing for the PBA to do - increase the frequency of its games so that they can play the same No. of games on a shorter season. Instead of a 10-month season in which wala na halos pahinga ang mga players, why not reduced it to an 8 & a half-month season but the the same No. of games as that of a 10-month season? This can be achieve by increasing the frequency of games.

Quinito says that the PBA season next year will have three conferences, with the All-Filipino in August : https://x.com/TheDeanQuinito/status/1775848680844869778?s=20

Hay, nako. A PBA three-conference season typically lasts 10-12 months. Do these guys realize that we have a FIBA tournament in August 5 next year, and we run the risk of not giving our guys sufficient prep time?

Correct bro.
And it is actually this f_cking 3-conference season format which lasts 10 or even more months that hinders PBA players from playing for Gilas in FIBA tournaments. Remember what happened in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup when Gilas didn't have the PBA superstars like Junmar, Oftana, Perez, Malonzo, Thompson, etc. becoz of this fucking 3-conference format by the PBA?

So this explains the 3-conference format that keeps coming back.

This to think that nobody's watching PBA games now except when Ginebra plays. Nauumay na mga Pinoy basketball fans watching a pro league so imbalance that puro nalang SMC teams ang nagta champion. Nauumay na nga tayong mga fans, yet PBA refuse to limit it to just a 2-conference per season format.

Christ, just naturalize all the college FSA's already. Not all of them will be good enough to play in France. At least reward some of them for taking the time to grind in local college basketball than tending some farm in Africa.

better yet, allow them to play in the PBA. give each team 1 slot for FSAs who played at least 4 years in local colleges. the best FSAs get naturalized. that would also simulate having 2 world imports in regular pba games

Ive always liked this idea, but people are going to complain that there will be one less slot for locals as a result

Thing is, only Japeth, June Mar, Kai, Laput, and AJ are center-sized among our locals. Mike Phillips is 6'8", but his length, motor, and athleticism more than compensates for his relative lack of height. None of our other locals have that.

At least give the other teams the chance to have an actual center with size, length, strength, and athleticism.

The more playoff, more games are watch. Unless there is a study that says otherwise.

main reason why pba wants a 3 conference format, playoffs games can generate ratings

The attendance to the games says otherwise.. PBA is just lazy or too content with what they have.. Like marcial who gives no care of what's happening..

Kind of related to PBA

Why PVL has tons of crowd and full pack stadium even in elimination games in manila games than in PBA? PVL has parity given without a draft..

The PVL has some empty stadiums, though. But I did see that the stadiums were more packed in big games. College superstars' popularity translated to the professional ranks.

that’s what eala is saying with ganglani.. how you make a popular uaap guy transition to pba and get that fan base watch pba and his career.. now where is the fans of let’s say lucero from uaap to pba? it’s something pba lacks..

Marketing issue? PBA's marketing department has made some boneheaded moves throughout the years.

Problem is that theres no "relatability" between the fans and the teams that the former can latch onto.

In contrast, because teams in the college ranks and the MPBL are playing for a school or location, people will naturally flock to the court to cheer on their hometown heroes / schoolmates

Yeah, why don't UAAP or NCAA fans watch the PBA in Metro Manila to watch the career of their college stars?

It all goes back to farm teams. The famous college stars are typically drafted high by the farm teams, like Lucero. Why would the fans be motivated to watch their stars when they play for teams that dont aim to win. Teams like TF are fun to watch now because with Converge in the worst spot for the top pick they have leeway to win games. With the level of the rookies and their other players they can actually beat good teams if they wanted to. It would have been a more entertaining league. But well they allow farm teams. IMO better fewer teams but actually aim to win.
