SMB gets another wing? Teng and Jericho not enough?

I think Trollano is an upgrade over those 2. He replaces Bulanadi. But again it depends on the coach and the system. Trollano is good but not good enough to make a sucky system and coaching look good.
Actually, Trollano plays better D than Jeron, and is bigger than Jericho. You get size and defense at the wing.

SMB shouldve gotten Kris rosales too imo, northport doesnt really need him and SMB desperately needs one with Cruz being the only dependable pg

I think NOR needs a veteran PG. As good as Yu and Paraiso are showing they still need a veteran guidance at point. Also consistency. Bulanadi could replace Jeff Chan role, Abamos with Caperal.

NLEX or SMB for Rosario according to Snow

Meanwhile, another source bared that after the trade, NLEX may restart negotiations with Blackwater for Troy Rosario, who is also said to be a San Miguel target.

With June Mar Fajardo injured, the Ramon S. Ang-owned squad has been left with a gaping hole in the middle - which someone like Rosario can fill.

Another source bared that Rosario is no longer keen on returning to TNT, which surprisingly traded him to Blackwater last year.

A trade only makes sense once Alas returns.

Has anyone watched the PBA motoclub vlog wherein Cardona disclosed that LA Revilla only had 30k salary fod Kia? And he got the same amount for Globalport during his stint? Do you guys think it is believable?

OT.. lofton is good get for Meralco.. hope PBA considers 2 imports this is exciting to watch..

I like the two import setup for lower tier teams..or that combo a 6'3 and 6'9 since it will sharpen our locals to defend american scorers

Hopefully, we adopt this setup for import conferences. It will help our EASL teams, and also add depth and quality in certain positions. And as MERALCO as shown, the other import can be a role player like Ibeh.

And, maybe increase the height limit to a combined 416cm (13 feet 8 inches; a 7-foot center + a 6'8" PF at the tallest), to allow leeway for a PF if teams lack a reliable local for that position. Hahahahahahaha.

Thats the reason of PBA of having 3 conferences.

If we implement 2 imports, look at Japan not having any good big men. Even in guard lineup its thin with Immamura and their PG being players with qualities.

FOR meralco, Ibeh will play like 30 mins living 18 mins for Almazan, Bates and Torres in Center position. We might end up like Ryuku no quality bigs.

The PBA doesn't have too many good centers, though. After June Mar, Japeth, CStand, and Arana, that's it. Almazan and CStand can slide to 4 a bit, but Almazan has IQ issues. Otherwise, it's guys like Justin Chua, Reavis, Belga, Kelly. Guys like Bates and Torres are 10-15-minute players, and Torres can slide to 4.

Star PF's are Sangalang, Hodge, BGR. Maybe Mo Tautuaa is "reliable" at that spot, I dunno. We might have guys like Luis Villegas and Keith Datu coming up, but not all teams have quality players at 4. The other good players at that spot (Carl, Quiambao, Balti, Mason, Gozum, maybe Liwag) are not in the PBA yet.

Wings din, e. We do have Oftana, Gabe (who's really old), Navarro, Arvin (who's a defensive liability), and Malonzo, but a lot of threes are undersized (Pogoy, Abueva), third guards (Scottie, Pringle, Ahanmisi, Mikey), or good-sized but role players (Khobuntin, Borboran, Cahilig, Semerad, Anthony).

Also, primary scorers. Although I like a team based basketball, I agree naman that we still need primary scorers. If you don't have a local primary scorer, then use an import. Not everybody has a June Mar, Castro, Bolick, Mikey, or lately Oftana. Teams like RoS, Converge, Phoenix (post-Wright), and NorthPort don't have those guys.

It's about balancing it, e. Balance when to win and when to use the other guys (something I think Ryukyu failed to do against MERALCO).

ibeh is a good role player import (defense, rebound) then you have a super scorer import in lofton..

Compare than to a B. League who has no one at Center position this level at all. I Look at Go, Camson, Aldrich, Carino, Japeth, Ambohot, Laput, Tratter, Ganuelas, Calma, Poy. Who do you have in B.League that have the same skills as above players

Why are we comparing locals. JP has a limited population. They even recruited Matt Aquino and put him in their pool. They dont have many bigs but two of those are in the NBA. The B league has two world import an Asian import all year round. They have much better bigs than the PBA or KBL. This is the reason why good bigs like CT and Balti barely get minutes there. You would need to be as good as Edu to play major minutes there. Even Kai just averaged 19 mins.

That said, if you are not at Edu or Kais level you should try the KBL. The money is big in B league but might not be worth it if your skills stagnate.

greg slaughter, from pba double-double machine to bench-warmer in a division 2 team

Japan has a lot of 6'7 guys who are sure shot from three more like of isaac go's type but since they have watanabe, Hachimura hawkinson and company. So the need for that big isnt really showing for now..

Yup, saw the video.

A player also allegedly played for free for kia. He wasnt named though.

Sana there was a pipeline for them African FSA's to play in the PBA as locals the way corporations hire foreigners on local terms (tapos may kaltas sila sa PAGIBIG at Phil Health haha).
this, just copy the homegrown system of football wherein if someone had developed their basketball skills here before becoming 21, theyre eligible as locals. PBA says theyre bleeding talent, why not just open the doors to more folks.

FSA or calibered-imports, I am with the two import quota in the PBA. Raise the competition, add the excitiement and give teams their leeway in forming their teams.

And make the imports permanent. We don't have a lot of tall rim protectors and tall wings. Some teams don't have a reliable primary local scoring option as well. Also, yes, add competition to the league.

Or if not possible, give a permanent roster spot to the FSA, add him to the Fil-foreigner limit. Or, in import conferences, add him to the import limit.

FSAs in the pba will handy for future pleadings for FIBA exemption. schools basically developed them and since they are in the country at a young age they are also integrated in the local culture which is good for PR points

I agree with U bro.
2-import per team & add 4 more teams in the PBA so that more local players can play.

Building from this point, many PBA teams have holes as of now. Here's my personal assessment of the current teams:

Ginebra: Needs a go-to guy, complete in all positions when healthy and with Brownlee; maybe need a third center
MERALCO: Needs a go-to guy, size at center (have both in Lofton and Ibeh)
Magnolia: Needs a go-to-guy and depth at center
Blackwater: Needs size at center, and maybe a PF/C as well
TNT: Needs an imposing presence at center, even when healthy
Converge: Needs size at wing and depth at the bigman positions; lineup is too small
RoS: Needs a go-to guy and maybe a wing as insurance for Gabe
SMB: Needs defensive wing depth and a four who can reasonably defend; very overpowered on offense, but there are holes in the roster
Phoenix: Needs size and rim protection at center and a go-to guy
TerraFirma: Needs a reliable guard, and maybe another wing
NLEX: Needs size and rim protection at center
NorthPort: Needs depth at center so that Calma and Flores don't struggle as much

So from here, a lot of PBA teams have holes to fill. This builds from my original point that many all-Filipino teams are incomplete. Some need more than one import. At the very least, have a permanent spot for either one FSA or tenured import (maybe someone who has already played in 3 or more conferences), and then have him take one of the import spots in 2-import conferences.

I'm kind of with sir JAMSKIE that we need to expand if we're to have a 2-import system so that more locals can play.
