But let's not get too carried away and think everything is golden. If not for Brownlee playing like a hybrid of Jordan, Steph and T-Mac during the tournament, we would be having a different conversation.

Like what most successful people say, it's easier to get to the top than staying on top. If we want to stay golden and prove to asia that it's not only a fluke, we can't milk this championship til it's a dry tit and do nothing to address underlying problems.

I appreciate the gold. However, we have to thank our NPs the most for it. It was not PBA talent that did it. It was a good gift to us Pinoys but let us not be under the illusion that it was thanks to PBA talent. If one of JB and Kouame were not there we might not have even won Bronze. That's PBA talent for you. Kudos though to Newsome. Arguably the best non-NP player in that tourney. Yes, it was only one game. But it was the game that mattered the most where he was heads above the best non-NP player.
 
I also do hope that this would also be a sign that a 5x5 league would be next in the near future...our Women Basketball program badly needed that.
 
Confirmed by Tim Cone via CNN Philippines interview that Tony Bishop will be Ginebra's import for the upcoming Commissioners Cup
 
Just watched the replay of Ray Parks’ debut game for TNT last 2019 Govs Cup and it just made me think. Had TNT gave in to the demands of Ray. They wouldn’t suffer now with the contract issue of Mikey Williams, right? But it is an open secret that Ray really wanted to play for Ginebra

Watch or listen to let it fly podcast featuring BRP jr. He mentioned he's willing to stay with TNT.. 3 offers from Mr. Gold standard and thats it.. all are the same. Wanted more but all are same offer.

what's funny? They gave more on kabayan and kai but they turn stingy on moon williams and brp jr.

tnt could have been a dynasty if they paid brp and mikey,

mikey, pogoy, brp, oftana, erram, castro, chua et.al that’s a scary lineup. too bad the team is too cheap and toxic.

Dysfunctional team. Jeez. And it seems good faith negotiations are not part of their vocabulary.​

They agreed to the renegotiation clause with Mikey, and the guy earned his right to renegotiate. Now they don't wanna pay him? That's all kinds of messed up.

mayor castro driving romeo and alas out of the team, the entire roster quitting on dickel due to his strict diet rules, management being cheap AF. No wonder players would rather sign with SMC than deal with vargas, panlilio and the toxic tnt roster

Talented but dysfunctional team. Now, talent's not really there due to Pogoy and Erram being out for the conference, and Mikey holding out due to renegotiation.

I don't know if the TNT team as currently constructed can compete in the EASL (let's see on Wednesday at home, and against Anyang, who's said to be really weakened, and the Fubon Braves). I frankly have more faith in MERALCO. PBA, pwede pa.

me thinks smc is just waiting for mpic to just give up on mikey and just trade him for scraps + mvps favorite players similar to how romeo was traded for one of the semerad twins.

And, will TNT even exercise the right of first refusal on Mikey? SMC might even get the guy for free.
 
Come on. Do you really think Parks could have repeated that Finals appearance without reinjuring himself? Parks squeezed out everything he could out of his brittle body to singlehandedly lift TNT against the best iteration of Phoenix. To the point that he could not play anymore in the Finals. He played a subpar game 1 and worse game 2 and he did not play in the PBA again. Mikey Williams gave them a 'ship and is not as injury prone as Parks, he deserves the money. Parks no.

The constant merging took toll on them they need to cater all the c level employees/ young managers they have.. they have Mico halili and jude turcuato in their payroll, what is coach rg's role as avp, speaker or commentator..ripe for downsizing si mpic..

also didnt help that the salims/suhartos lost so much money due to the pandemic. Cost cutting measures (including financing for pba teams, the sbp and the world cup hosting) could have been a directive from the top, all the way from hong kong.
