That's the problem when you have the connection, not necessarily the track record, to borrow as much as you want and buy anything you want. Phoenix was profitable because of smuggling. Phoenix had the money to buy and maintain a PBA team and yet none to pay for the ethanol they use? Ramon Ang has said that Petron has been losing a lot of money, before the recent oil price increase. And he marveled at the efficiency of Phoenix because they were profitable.

And being a crony means he pays less than non-cronies. Look at how much Ayala lost by being forced to sell Maynilad to Razon for a discount.

Dennis oaid more in terms of SOP and campaign contributions not actual purchase price. Maynilad was under huge debt and fixing holes were expensive and under price regulations its hard to recover. Beside thier main business real estate is getting hit hard, needed additional money.

Crossing my fingers that he'll not be misused or played out of his natural position before his contract with TNT is over. I also hope that TNT would trade for a legit four (even if undersized) to pair with Oftana.

The next victim of TNT misuse. He will be the next Mo Tautuaa, Terrence Romeo and MGR.

heard that PBA is making Bay Area stay for pba for good...open pala sial sa foreign teams eh

Apparently Bilyonaryo.com ata nauna mag leak ng information na yan.

Etong PBA insider parang hindi naman talaga insider eh he only gets his info from the internet. Puro NBA related pa tweets lol.

Mas ok pa yung inside the PBA eh since he is connected with Snow Badua

Yeah, and some peeps from twitter actually suspects that Inside the PBA is Snow's burner account

So there are rumors going around that aside from Phoenix, other franchises possibly up for sale are NLEX and Northport.

For me, fusing Commissioner's and Governor's Cup are closer to reality than scrapping All-Filipino Cup.

Yeah. Instead of scrapping the All-Filipino, why not have it as an offseason or preseason tournament with only the top 6 teams of the fused Commissioner's and Governors' Cups (which will be the regular season) qualifying? Have a double-round robin with two groups, and top 4 make the best of 3 semifinals. Final is also best of 3. So, that's 14-17 games, 6-9 in the playoffs. Ensures quality competition in that tournament, and fans will be there. Preseason or no, fans will wanna watch. Kung onti, no different from PBA regular season games anyway.

For the third conference, have a cup competition, like the other Asian leagues. Have it go side-by-side with the PBA regular season. Of course, we will have to account for the EASL.

I always have to asked the tough questions here. All Filipino 6 teams only? So the bottom teams will not do anything yet they will pay all the staff. More loses for them. No pay for contractuals and other businesses. So how will they get back those expenses. Are we sure fans will come and watch elimination games? Unless their is market research to back up that plan, its wishful thinking.

I have a bit of a short answer. Get good, and get fans. They're businesses, they should know how to market it to gain profit.

Actually, I will stick to what I had replied to you weeks ago.

AFC as pre-season tournament
Season proper
Invitationals as off-season tournament

If you still asking about the stakes of this, take away the name of PBA for both AFC and invitationals, just like how Japan has Tohoku Cup and Emperor's Cup organized by B.League and JABBA.

May I asked have you run a business before or right now. Believe me if just making a product good will make people buy it then alot of buainess wont be bankrupt. You need more than that, cost is as important than selling out. It is not sustainable not to look at expenses.

I still don't get how a preseason is better than actual conference when their is stakes involve. Again shortening the season will lessen the income of teams. How will you compensate for that.

No, I haven't. I'm a history graduate and law student, and no inherited businesses.

Pero kasi, that's their job, they assumed the risk of expenses. Find ways to attract customers and to turn a profit.

"I still don't get how a preseason is better than actual conference when their is stakes involve."

- The fans as well as other teams will have a glimpse of each other after the off-season. This is their opening salvo against each other. The objective is to make a statement ahead of the season. This is the stake that I am talking about.

"Again shortening the season will lessen the income of teams."

- Again, you will make your season proper longer - double or triple round round robin with longer playoffs. As you said, more games, more income. The league just needs to be creative.

"How will you compensate for that."

- Double (22 games) or Triple (33 games) round robin eliminations
- 5-7-7 playoffs
- More on the road games (and even more during playoffs)
- Put the game dates one during Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, when most people are don't have work or class.

What are your suggestions to make PBA attractive to people again and make people watch live?
