Philippine PBA Trades, Releases, Sign-ups, Rumours (vol. III)

PBA should move away from 3 conference format , make it just 2 first All Filipino then the 2nd conference will be an Invitational tournament in which the top 6 of All Filipino conference will be joined by at least 1 team from Japan, South Korea. Taiwan, China and maybe from Middle East, then 2 imports or even 1 with unlimited height, then the bottom 6 from All Filipino cup will be joined by the finalists of DLeague which can be reinforced by an import and their FSA if school based while the pba teams will have either an asian import or non asian with a heigh limit of 6'6 then it will be division B maybe the farm teams will somehow not trade their marquee players for peanuts as they will have a reason to compete , like maybe winning a championship in the division b sa 2nd conference will not be as bad as being a cellar dweller in the current set up

At least NorthPort got a first-round pick. Hahahahahahaha.

All that said, I think it's time we adopted the European football transfer system and disclosed cash amounts in trades. In Europe, you straight up buy players for 8, and even 9 digits in euros. At least it gives teams more incentive to raise their prices, increasing their spending power (wages, transfers, etc.). At least we'll know the farm teams will get something out of it.

That, and convince their member clubs (especially the more loaded ones) to look for basketball glory with much more significance outside the PBA, and that I believe is by giving more emphasis on qualifying to the EASL Tournament and trying their best to win it every year. This may not solve the problems plaguing the league overnight, but at least it would be something to look forward to for the fans clamoring for a change.

Yup, the 3-conference format really sucks. Nawawala ang bearing ng pagpanalo ng PBA championship.

They do it for the ratings. If the two conference format next year works out ratings wise maybe they stop. Otherwise 3 conferences will come back.

If both conferences will be on single-round robin format, i think it will work as fans won't have to wait for the conference playoffs for too long. Otherwise (double-round elims, resulting to an almost 5 months long conference just like 2004-2010), then it might backfire just like it did before.

That Zhu guy was a solid player in CBA, so Bay Area isnt getting CBA discards in their lineup

Powell is punishing the defense while Liu is making the shots of Blackwater difficult.

Powell is showing us how wide the gap between NBA talent and PBA talent, he's like Mikey Williams+Stanley Pringle+motivation combined

Its really really wide. We are being fooled since most our international competition is within asia but most fans dont really get how poor the asian level actually is.

that's why Australia and New Zealand are here.

Top 2 or 3 league talent vs top 5 league players.

I like "Pa-liga ni Boss Alfrancis" (trans: League of Boss Alfrancis) better. But that's just my own bias, lol

Well it is true. The league is so imbalanced and rigged to favor SMC and MVP teams and IMO tilted towards the SMC side more. Farm teams and independent teams almost has zero shot of winning especially now that all independent teams are rebuilding.

That's why im cheering for the guest team (The Dragons) though, I doubt Long Hair and Vargas would allow them to win the championship, ref magic incoming.
