The Gilas draft is a joke. 2 years before a player actually plays for his mother team.

Dapat agad agad pwede na sila gamitin pero pag may FIBA pwede hugutin anytime. Why let them stagnate with no competitive basketball for such a long time? Whats the logic?

That already happened before with RR Pogoy batch, but when they need to train they couldn't be pulled out. Teams are in the middle of chasing playoff spots. It's hard for teams to plan if one of their reliable players will be in and out of the roster. Just like Nets with Kyrie. That's why PBA let them be full-time with Gilas. PBA will not distrub the Gilas and PBA teams will not need to plan their games with the player.

Bolick and Slaughter, according to sources, have been offered max deals but are reportedly asking for more.

“Greg is asking more than four times than what is being offered,” said a source to the Inquirer.

wow 2M a month for Greggy boy

From the same article:
“It’s like saying that they really don’t want to be on this team. They haven’t played in months and they got paid, is it hard to show some kind of gratitude for that?”

They're all asking the same questions. They can't be this clueless. Who wants to play for a farm team if you're getting an offer worth more than 4 times the league maximum overseas?

Exactly. Why play for a farm team that isn't allowed to win against the mother teams? And got paid for less?

Maybe they don't really want to be in that team anymore? That's why they're asking for a a huge payday now

a part of me wants the empire to outbid or match the foreign teams, make the empires bleed cash, anyway scaring the players with a 5 year ban is apparently not working, pba teams need to step up, give them a offer they cant refuse, sucks for the indy teams though :(

They are not actually stagnating. Arguably international competitions are a better showcase for international leagues. Practically all of the players in the international leagues now did. PBA won't showcase them.

They should have been part of this window. I dont think Kib Montalbo will be better internationally than Matt or Suerte. Hope I am wrong though.

Yeah, IMO the intention is good and reasonable, it's just the proper execution that's lacking which should be more regular (official/unofficial) games against other NTs or scrimmages with top PBA teams, to build the young squad's chemistry, cohesion, and confidence. If I may add, there should also be an age limit for this Gilas draft. Only amateur standouts 19-21 y.o. should be the ones prioritized for this draft.

If only the PBA would take the hint and evolve like what the VisMin Cup is doing.

VisMin is also very picky in their prospective members after the incident that's why there are only around 6-8 teams.

These are their confirmed imports right now:

- Henry Iloka 6'11
- Prince Eze 6'8
- Chibueze Ikeh 6'7

i guess he ends up with BGSM or SMB before the year ends, no way they'll pay him that much money to stay in that farmteam,

Not far fetch. If double max is literally 840k, we can be sure they have agreed to terms not that far off from that figure. I’d go out on a limb and say trade discussions have already been initiated even before the actual resigning.

Nasa whirlwhind phase pa yung lovelife ni Bolick, I doubt he will leave the girl to go to Japan this early in their relationship.

Hibang na hibang pa siya looking at the girl's IG. Mukhang sobrang galing ni girl sa kama.

If SMB, only fairly trades are: TR7 = Bolick
Perez = Bolick
Lassiter, Enciso, Brondial = Bolick

While Ginebra, fairly trades are: Pringle = Bolick
Thompson = Bolick
Mariano, Caperal, Pinto = Bolick

Other than that, it's a lopsided trade...

Ginebra will gladly accept the 3rd one.

Mariano, Caperal, and Pinto for a Superstar

Mariano, Caperal, and Pinto for Bolick is a fair trade? None of the three are promising stars, unlike the Ferrer, Jervy, Sol for Pringle trade, where at least Ferrer showed promise.
