Would it be easier for SMB or MVP teams to get players from farm teams? For example, they will just ask Terrafirma to not much their offer to RFA Adams and they get him without trading anymore. For Terrafirma they continue to get support from those trade partner teams.

Probably. That might be possible behind the scenes. Ask the farm team to not exercise their right of first refusal.

In TerraFirma's case with Adams, Cardel's already acting like Adams ain't coming back. He's as good as gone.

Actually, they have this wrong notion in setting-up regional leagues. Why go full-blast Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao when logistics are too costly? Why not try it first in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon and Baguio City? These areas are all connected by expressways so logistics should not be a challenge.

Tsaka na nila isipin ang Visayas at Mindanao if they already figure it out how to make it possible with less cost.

Also, they should try it first to less popular teams.

They'll have to work hard on getting those teams a fanbase, though. The team as well.

Establish the fanbase. I guess, start with the provinces. It has to be done gradually. Only 2 or 3 teams at the time.

ROS, Phoenix and Alaska are my model teams here.

Oh.

I remember people (including me) want an expansion when it was a 10 team league.

Wish Granted. But not that way our wish wanted to be. Not Farm teams. Huhu.

Add expansion teams. But make sure they are a rival rich companies too.

If only Ayala, Gokongwei, SM, Jollibee, Aboitiz, and Razons have interest in pba.

But they are already earning great with their businesses.

if only they will allow foreigners/foreign entities to own pba franchises that will sure balance the level field, and might even open the PBA to regionalization/internationalization, too bad the board is too conservative and blinded by false nationalism, plus a lot of legal/constitutional hurdles to deal with

I personally wouldn't want an expansion as of the moment. Not until we have too much talent and size at the 3 and 4 positions. Frankly, the way I see it, the only overloaded positions are the guards. I'd like to see the teams load up on good-sized and talented wings and fours, whether small-ball fours or traditional fours. I think this upcoming draft has the potential to help with that.

What the PBA need right now is a disruptor, much like what Uber did to the taxi industry, or what Netflix did to the traditional cable and tv channels.

Chooks to Go might be that disruptor. The owner has the financial clout, basketball savvy and balls to stand up with the the MVPs and RSAs of the PBA.

I think they could have a presence in the Region III and CALABARZON areas. Those are good teams to start with. Plus, Alaska and RoS have established themselves as solid teams. They could get plenty of fans in these areas.

Good news that the PBA is saying that they will adjust the calendar for the EASL. The second step would be to allow imports to play in the PBA for the entire season without a height limit and relegate the All-Filipino to the offseason. Another would be to classify naturalized Filipinos as locals under the Fil-foreigner limit. This should help our teams compete there, as a start.

This EASL tournament would provide a second playoffs for PBA teams and the PBA would get a cut. It's gonna be like a 3-conference format, but more suitable for international competition (either between clubs or national teams).

As I always say, there is this dream situation and reality. The reality is funding the teams and PBA. 200 million a year is spent per team. Are they going to get any revenue in return and how much? How many people will go to a venue to watch PBA for regular games? Play-offs there is a guarantee and also Ginebra. But the rest of the league can't guarantee of 10K paying audience every regular games.

The EASL will provide another playoff tournament for the fans to watch, even if it's not a Ginebra game. I think the fans would want to watch one of our own take on international teams. And I assume the EASL might share TV and ad revenue among the qualified teams, which will help with the cash flow.

As for getting more fans to watch non-Ginebra PBA games live, the question is how do we make the PBA more attractive to fans? Gilas participation and commitment, better marketing for the other teams?

I am talking about PBA only. Season-long, one conference is an issue. Better marketing is good. But what marketing, can you suggest a guarantee marketing strategy to bring fans back for what 60games x 12teams regular season.

As for the calendar, maybe a two-tournament format is possible. 22 elimination games, and for each tournament, you have 1-3 quarterfinals games, 4-7 semifinals games, and 4-7 finals games for a total of 9-16 playoff games. In total, that's 20-27 games per team for each tournament, and 40-54 games in total. For the PBA, that's a total of 132 elimination games, 12-20 quarterfinals games, 16-28 semifinals games, and 8-14 finals games for a total of 168-194 games. I'm sure that span of games can be scheduled from September to June, which will make room for both FIBA and the EASL.

However, even with this tournament format, imports should be allowed for the whole season, and with an unlimited height limit for both tournaments, and teams have the option to retain or change the import between tournaments. The EASL runs for five months, roughly one and a half conferences, so both tournaments have to have imports.

Intere4sting development, I hope this pushes through, and pls I hope the KBL players wont end up like Sanchir Tungalag

Possible tie-up: PBA, KBL to exchange players

"Gusto nila ng cooperation, strengthening relations and friendship. Gusto nila magusap ang PBA at KBL kung ano ang pwedeng gawin," said Marcial on a recent communication with the Korean league well received by the PBA.

"Ang sabi ng board okay yan. (Let's) engage," said Marcial, looking forward to forging partnership and cooperation that would be beneficial to both leagues.

So, It's Phoenix or Meralco the last destination of Banchero.. Who do you think Banchero better fit?

ROS needs another ball creator aside from Nambatac. But is ROS willing to shell out money to take in Banchero. Meralco is also a good destination for Banchero since they lost Pinto to free agency.

lol at this quote:

While Phoenix is an independent team, it is filthy rich like the SMC and MVP Group. Its parent company is Udenna, a conglomerate founded and owned by Dennis Uy, a close ally of president Rodrigo Duterte. According to Forbes, Uy is the 27th richest man in the Philippines with a net worth of $710 million.

Korean imports, especially known marksmen, might help with the PBA's 3-point shooting, which has been pretty much below average, which is why PBA teams can get away with sagging off on shooters. If the shooting improves, the perimeter defense should improve. Otherwise, the defense will keep getting burned. Could be helpful.

However, we might have to integrate the Korean import while not compromising the playing time of the FIBA-eligible players.

The PBA seriously needs to consider rule changes on the Fil-foreign rule. It should be changed to FIBA-ineligible rule. That way, we can get naturalized players and imports as well as FIBA-ineligible locals.

I want Lee Seunghyun (the lefty bigman), Choi Junhyong (6'7 point guard) and Oh Sekeun (6'7 version of Patrimonio) to play here.

Oh, yeah. Some Koreans could provide positional upgrades to our forward positions. A lot of our PFs and SFs are undersized for their position. This might eliminate the undersized 3-guard lineups as well.

I was thinking of Abueva a little. However, Abueva would need big-time discipline to stay in SoKor. Plus, he's 33. Sucks, because he's our best FIBA-eligible wing. Him and Gabe are aging already. Oh, yeah, I forgot about Calvin Oftana. If he gets good enough in the PBA after a year or two, he might be considered.

As for bigs, yeah, they have to contend with imports, whether on the pick-and-roll or in the low post. Greg and June Mar will get pick-and-rolled or pick-and-popped to death. Same with Ian Sangalang. Japeth has just signed a 3-year extension with Ginebra. Raymond Almazan and JP Erram, sure they're mobile, but are they good enough, and is TNT willing to give up Erram?

Ofcourse not, as a matter of fact, TNT is fortifying their frontline by signing 6'7 Mark Acuno via free agency.

6'7 Erram
6'7 Acuno
6'6 Williams
6'5 Rosario
6'5 Marcelo
6'5 Fuller

This is a solid frontline - not tall but very versatile.

All of them can play at least one forward position (Acuno is sometimes listed as a forward, not a center). Can Chot develop Acuno into a nice 4/5, at least a rotation-quality one? He has the size to play the 4, and could stretch the floor as both a 4 and a 5.

If banchero wants big playing time and 2nd superstar after wright then Phoenix is the destination.. however, let’s be real here.. all of professional basketball players are needed of good living and big bucks.. I will not surprise if he picks meralco.. honestly, I’m surprised that no any smc teams are interested on banchero.. I thought they are the favorites to get him..

All the SMC teams have a ton of rotation guards. It won't really make sense to get Banchero.

Ganuelas reunites with TNT. Wow, TNT is getting stronger.

Erram 6'7
Acuno 6'7
Williams 6'6
Rosario 6'5
Marcelo 6'5
Ganuelas 6'5
Fuller 6'5
CBC 6'4
Khobuntin 6'3
Pogoy 6'2
Williams 6'1
Banal 6'1
Reyes 6'1
Heruela 5'11
Castro 5'10
Montalbo 5'10

Who are they going to unload though?
