Sayang si Navarro, because he will be end up in Northport, An alleged SMC farm team... he will be end up like Kevin Ferrer if he will play in the PBA...

Or William Navarro could end up as a serviceable role player to any of SMC team. Remember, defense is Navarro's calling card & he has played under a very good system of coach Tab, hence he has a very good understanding of the game which could be another significant quality of his game. We know that all SMC teams - San Miguel, Ginebra & Magnolia are already loaded with talents, scorers, hence a role defensive player like Navarro may be perfect compliment to any of those teams. Besides, a good size wingman with decent defensive skills is a sought after commodity in basketball nowadays.

With Kevin Ferrer, I really don't know what his calling card is. He is very inconsistent in offense. Is he a decent wing defender? Ferrer's career is going nowhere.

If Navarro becomes the taller version of Freddie Abuda on defense, and then expands his role to become a stretch 4 with a respectable outside shot (33-40%), that would already be a huge win for any of the 3 SMC clubs, and has MVP-backed Gilas to thank for.

As for Ferrer, I'm kinda seeing Aldrech Ramos in him, although the latter has somewhat resurrected his PBA career with stellar showings last conference. Ferrer has to reinvent himself, get in better shape (he's gotten really big and slow), and focus on becoming a primary defensive stopper for his current or future team, something he was kind of good at when he was with BGSM.

With Navarro, depending on his coaches if how he will be use by his coach..if he is with smc, I want him at magnolia.. smb and ginebra are not patience on young guns.. atleast magnolia have confidence on their young players..

Yeah, of the three SMC teams, Mags is the best place for a young player to go to. They actually have a good track record of player development since Victolero took over. Sangalang became a reliable offensive option, Jio became a serviceable backup PG, and Dionisio is being groomed to be a serviceable 3/4. Laput will also benefit there. In addition, Victolero's system is the best-suited for international competition, especially defense.

Pero, Mags have plenty of role players like Navarro.

Chot going overboard with the small-ball, going with a 4-guard lineup midway through the 1st quarter.

Yeng is now going with his lineup with 5 perimeter players (PG, Trollano, Oftana, Semerad, McDaniels).

Of course Chot loves his guards. But he doesnt have a big SF though. Rosario doesnt have the handles to be an SF. While NLEX has 6'3 6'4 and 6'5 guys who can.

He has Glenn Khobuntin and MacKenzie Moore as wings. However, yeah, he loves his guards too much to play them at 3, opting to play them at 4 instead (although Khobuntin spent most of his time at 3).

Yes forgot about Glenn. But IMO he is below the level of the NLEX SFs.

Should have kept one of Trollano or Semerad instead of trading both for Parks IMO.

That's right. But it should have been worth it. But who would've known Parks was a whiner and would opt out after a season. Similar to SMB, they should target a big SF in the next draft.

Almost every contender is in need of a big SF (sans the wing import). Especially TNT, SMB, and Ginebra, who employ 3-guard lineups as their best lineups, and are a bit thin in that position. Even other playoff teams like MERALCO and Alaska are in serious need in that position.

Magnolia, NLEX, NorthPort, RoS, Phoenix, and TerraFirma, on the other hand, have plenty of big wings and/or versatile forwards, small-ball fours. Hope we can see that style contend.

This coming draft might see an increase in 6'4"-6'5" wings or combo forwards.

Agree with this. The talent of this upcoming batch will change the landscape of the PBA. I just hope the 3 guard teams indeed use big SFs and not just convert them to PFs.

A bit of a concern is that medyo overcrowded yung forward positions ng Phoenix, specially if Sean Anthony comes back from injury. Imagine Perkins, Anthony, Manganti, Camacho, Demusis, sharing the minutes at the 3 & 4 spots. Di ko na nga binilang si Matt Wright who also plays at the 3 spot most of the time.

I'd said this before, but the only way tall wings will take over at the 3 and eliminate the 3-guard lineups (where the 3rd guard is 6'2"-6'3") is if a 6'5"+ wing flat out dominates the matchup at the 3 against the 3-guard lineups, and his team wins because of it. I ask myself, what wing can have that kind of impact on a team? We'll need a 6'5"+ version of Parks or Abueva.

I hope Malonzo can change the game at the 3-spot, and dominates that position.

I think Topex has a temporary solution, which is to play Perkins at the 5. But I think sooner or later, Phoenix will have to trade to a team in desperate need of a wing or at least a combo forward. They can trade one of the wings for either assets (picks or prospects) or maybe bigs, or even another impactful star for them to be able to compete.

PHX should unload through a trade at least 1 of these forwards you mentioned and get a bigman in exchange.

I hope 1 among Manganti, Demusis or Camacho goes to Meralco. I think any of those players mentioned would thrive in Meralco.

demusis seems to be the best pick bait. manganti has potential to be back up of wright. camacho i think will be good defensively

I think Phoenix would keep Manganti. He has too much upside. Camacho as well, since he needs development. That makes Demusis kinda likely.

MERALCO could use all three, actually. Maliksi's their only 6'4" wing, and Hodge hasn't played 3 for a while. They actually could use size in both forward positions.

Have to agree with Demusis, he is the oldest i think among the 3 being in his late 20's. so the upside seems capped. So he should definitely be traded for him to flourish.

Black water is an insult to Pilipinas basketball. I hope Black water and terrafirma , the farm teams ,will be sold to different franchise who really wants to win. I hope and pray PBA realize that and give both teams ultimatum. Same with Northport , which is a very suspicious farm team of SMC.

Yeah, these teams should be given an ultimatum. Make the playoffs at least once within 1-2 years, or either sell or disband.

As for NorthPort, they're making the playoffs, even if they're getting farmed. Same with NLEX (which frankly is also a farm team). They compete, but how can they win a championship?

They wouldnt win. Lmao. They are the lowkey farm teams. Or Mediocre Teams

The only Independent Non Farm Teams who tried to compete and WIN in the last decade were frankly Aonly Alaska and Ros.

Ros Won 2 rings. Alaska have multiple runner up finsihes.

No suprise that Blackwater and Terrafirma and even farm in disguise North port is always in this section. Farm team really bad i hope PBa realize that, and give ultimatum to this farm teams if they really want to win or just sell there franchise.

God, I miss the 2016 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals which pitted the Indy teams you mentioned. Despite their low budget, they compete, and if they trade players (i.e. Paul Lee, Chan, Abueva, Almazan etc) they get quality players or draft picks in return.

Asi for 3!!!. Lmfao.

I think most upcoming Bigs in Pba will have a perimeter shot as time goes on.

My problem only with this is they may forget to use their size and length inside.

But having an inside outside game versatility for our league will be a good development

I think that Phoenix is also an independent and a non-farm team.
