SMC and to a lesser extent MVP players have nothing to gain from unionizing, they would just jeopardize their post retirement income, whereas, players from indy teams, farm teams, minimum earners and those on SMC's (Maliksi, Yap, Slaughter) and MVP (formerly Parks) sh*t list will benefit from a union. I doubt that journeymen PBA players who are out of the lague in 3-5 yrs time get the same perks that a Arwind or the Ravenas get.
Long Hair would tell the SMC players, "Bakit pa kayo sasali sa union na yan? Busog naman kayo sa San Miguel management ah. Ano pa ba ang mahihiling ninyo?"
Really don’t understand why the PBA just didn’t go for a long all Filipino cup instead of the usual format? By going with a double round robin format for all Filipino, the league will be guaranteed atleast 22 games. If I’m an owner, that would make me happy as I’m assured atleast x number of games, what the league is doing is just Continue with the current format and still push for an import conference.
How will an import conference happen, when if you the imports need to be on quarantine, and if you replace import, you will need to wait for atleast 2 weeks, with travel time and quarantine. There is no chance also for ncr to go back in gcq anytime soon with the cases rising.
biggest problem in unionizing the PBA imho is that no single player in the league can unify these players, either some are content with the current structure, some are voiceless, most are apathetic and the minority, against the system but has no bargaining power (i.e. slaughter)
this generation of PBA players needs a Jaworski type of personality. I hope the incoming batch of PBA players are woke enough to challenge the status quo. (though I think they would rather go to Japan)

There's an old gentlemen's agreement that no new team / franchise can enter if the prospective new team has similar products of an existing team. Petron blocked the entry of the Phoenix before, then Petron reverted back to SMB ( and rightly so) , and that lifted the embargo on Phoenix.
Chooks will be hard-pressed to gain entry simply because Magnolia, more or less peddles the same chicken mean products. Let's just hope Magnolia revert back to Purefoods, which in all honesty, should not really be changed in the first place. Purefoods has lots of history on its ledger just to be set aside just like that. Once Purefoods' team name is back, then there's no reason for the old farts in the PBA to not let CTG in.
That can change, in politics there is no permanent friends and enemies... only interests..Aside from being a direct market competitor of Magnolia (pambansang manok), Mascarinas and SBP had a bitter feud with the 3x3 as the most recent setback.
This means that Mascarinas is in the bad side of both RSA and MVP, thus any chance of his franchise entering the PBA is zero to none right now. And out of spite, Mascarinas has supported other leagues, from MPBL and the Vis-Min Cup.
