Thiis is the last time A PROPER undersized Small Ball Team Won a Pba All Filipino Cup Title

Talk N Text have Midget guards under 6 feet in Castro and Alapag. But they compensate with speed and talent level.

Their Bigs are maybe the most undersize from 2010-2020 era of PBA (If we compare all AFC Champions)

Kelly (6'6") - Compensate it with his mobility and athleticism
RDO (6'5/6'6") - Compensate it with his physicality, post game, Mobility and especially deadly 3pt shooting
Ali Peek (6'4") - Compensate it with his huge body ans physical strength
Carey (6'2") - Hustle Player

Coach Norman Black and Coach Chot both won with this lineup. It looks like it is more in the players than the coaches in that tnt afc era.

But when the likes of JMF, Greg, Cstand, Sanggalang came around. Teams were forced fo draft bigs just to defend this Giants.

Only Castro was in his prime when those guys entered the league.. Jimmy, Ali Peek were on their way out and RDO, Kelly are slipping na due injuries and medical conditions..

d only smc player who defied their gods in order to serve the country.

Tapos dapat itratrade as punishment kaso malakas si father in law.

luckily his in laws are politically powerful and aligned with RSJ and RSA's Nationalist People's Coalition. The Sottos are practically untouchable, the family patriarch (Vicente Sotto) was a hero/father of Cebuano language/literature and the author of the Press Freedom Law, while the current gen sottos (Gian, Vico) are slowly positioning themselves for national politics.

Anyway, hope he enters coaching and be a skills coach eventually

So even the SMC big boss found Arwind "Bagyo" Santos as mayabang who used to think that he was the best basketball player in the world. Oh my! I could sense how much air Santos used to have in his head before. I could sense how annoying & irritating Santos used to be even to his teammates, coaches & management.

Good thing he mellowed down as what RSA said.

Fitting that he sang 'Bagyo.' That's a lot of air. Hahahahahahahaha.

I heard Parks will be Northport bound.. If TNT will be able to sign Parks faster and accept trade that Northport will give.. This is not includes Bolick and Slaughter.. So it means TNT can only get either Malonzo and others.. If i were TNT i will accept that trade that includes Malonzo.. The latter will give TNT's big boost in terms of length, versatility and height in wing position.. parang pinatangkad na Jared Dillinger datingan ni Malonzo for TNT.. They should act that fast to get Malonzo before the latter will boost up his value.. Yes, Parks can able to make Northport to be a competitive team.. I will put Northport in top 4 teams this coming conference and to leapfrog the likes of Meralco, Phoenix and Magnolia.. And i see they can toe to toe with SMB and TNT.. that big 3 of Bolick, Parks and Slaughter is already a deadly one... The only problem is Northport can they convince Parks to stay for them or if SMC (especially Ginebra) will request to take Parks from them eventually...

If they can get either Malonzo, Slaughter or Bolick then good but if not what's the point of helping the other empire? Parks is an MVP calibre player. Him ending up with SMB, Ginbera or Magnolia would be a disaster for the league. Also I don't trust NP. For some reason they always lost against the mother teams in important games.

Well, either way other teams, especially TNT can't stop Parks to go w/ SMC.. So the best solution is to trade him for atleast a good asset.. Getting Malonzo is not bad either.. TNT will have a tall wingman in their arsenal and can go tall ball w/ having speed because Malonzo is a freaking athletic w/ his 6'7 frame.. Bahala na NP kung paano nila ibibigay sa Ginebra or other SMC teams si Parks...

Erram, Troy, Malonzo, Pogoy, Williams is a good core to in a post Castro TNT. I still don't see them getting past SMB or Ginebra though and even the Mags now will give them trouble

Yeah.. But atleast the core of SMB and Ginebra is getting older.. We don't know if can Junmar sustain his form post injury case for him.. While Ginebra will still competitive but guys like Japeth and LA already in mid to late 30's.. Even Pringle is in his mid 30's.. after 2 to 3 years eh their dominance will be gone.. Yes, they have farm teams but they still don't have LA and Japeth's skillset in their farm team.. The only 2 guys that can similar to LA's game is Matt Nietto (Already now w/ NLEX) and Brickman (can't make his papers to join PBA)... while Japeth's skillset is still not yet found in the league.. AJ Edu (Japeth's similar skillset) will not join PBA anytime soon..

Yeah, their cores are getting older.

SMB:
Arwind - 39 (will turn 40 this June)
Cabagnot - 38 (will turn 30 in December)
Ross - 36
Marcio - 35
June Mar - 31 (will turn 32 in November)
Terrence - 29
Perez - 27 (will turn 28 in November)

Ginebra
LA - 36 (will turn 37 in July)
Japeth - 34
Pringle - 34
Standhardinger - 31 (will turn 32 in July)
Thompson - 27 (will turn 28 in July)

As seen here, SMB do have viable replacements in Perez and Terrence.

Ginebra on the other hand, depends if they include Arvin Tolentino as part of their core for the future (hopefully they do). However, Scottie's their best player under 30. Hopefully he becomes the lead guard, and Ginebra can develop another star from Arvin, Enriquez, or Holmqvist. Plus, you do have a point about LA's and Japeth's skillsets. This is why I'd been advocating for Ginebra to build through the draft and/or to get young players (those 27 and under). If they can find a way to get Parks, e 'di OK. Actually, that makes Cone's 3-guard lineup more justifiable, since he's 6'4" (which is actually the ideal height for the 3rd guard here).

I'm fine with a Parks-Malonzo one on one trade. Though I feel makalamang ang Northport (and in the end any SMC team), TNT doesn't have much choice. Better to gid rid of a prodigal son in exchange for something of value naman. At least Malonzo has youth in him. He's bound for some improvement.

Parks will have to agree to a contract first before he can be traded.

I mean all good things have an end.

Crispa/Toyota Dynasty ended

Grandslam 90s SMB ended

Late 90s Grandslam Alaska ended

Early 2010s TNT dynasty ended

Then the San Mig Coffee grandslam dynasty ended.

Then JMF 5 AFC SMB ended

Now, we are entering or in process of Ginebra's Dynasty.

And yes, Because of age, it will end soon. Maybe Coach Chot can revive TNT again. Maybe any SMC will "rebuild fast thru fleece trades" (It will still take long)

Yup. If ever that rumor might be true. I love the trade. Northport has an abundance of long versatile wings like Ferrer and Manganti to develop pa and Malonzo's stock is still high because of his amateur and pre draft rankings. So ill take it. Maybe Northport could add someone like Doliguez or a Faundo to sweeten it.
