So the main reason why you no longer love Ginebra is because they became a super strong team now and no longer the previous underdogs?

That's actually true. Magnolia is more Ginebra than Ginebra. If the PBA eliminates these farm teams It's going to make the competition much better,

Ginebra is no longer the same team that I loved. I became a huge fan of Ginebra when they had the worst record in 1995 and they drafted Marlou Aquino as the no.1 pick in 1996. Winning a championship in 1997 was the most memorable championship in their franchise history alongside the 2004 Championship when they won back to backs.

likewise, remember that undermanned BGSM team 99-2000 with the likes of David, Lago, Limpot, Crisano, an aging Meneses and a young JJ helterbrand, that was a fun team to watch,

Yes that was fun to watch. San Miguel was just a powerhouse team became they had a young Danny Ildefonson and Danny Seigle plus some quality bench. And Acquiring Dorian Pena from the MBA made them a PBA Dynasty.

With the addition of MC47, Calpito, Magtulis, etc. the following year, that was basically the rag-tag, lovable middle-of-the-pack team that took SMB to 6 games during the 2001 AFC Finals. True underdogs they were during those days.

If the mental problem of some players is one of the problems there, After elims, Give them a 2 week break, so that they can see their loved ones.. Just like in NBA after All star break, They give players a 1 week break.. I understand some players who aren't like this bubble due to mental issues but Bubble is the only way PBA that they can run as of now...

Yeah, I agree with the 2-week vacation period. The PBA should just do 2 bubble conferences this season, with 1-month break in between. Shorten their recently proposed conference lengths from 4 (Phil Cup) and 6 (Reinforced) to just 2.5~3 months each (3 games per game day), with both conferences on a single-eliminations format plus QF, SF and Finals playoffs.

oh yeah i forgot how mentally taxing the bubble format was for the pba players, and I think it is also the reason why they begged off from gilas duties, same with some of the cadets

and if done wrong or prolonged, it could destroy a entire program, just ask Ayo and the Growling Tigers regarding their Sosogon bubble last year

They'll need a player with Jawo's charisma, plus a few championships, to get larger fanbases, especially Phoenix and RoS.

Yes, agree. Plus a strong identity (just like the CYG-era Batang Redbull Thunder) that will significantly make them stand-out from the rest of the PBA clubs and convince fans to gain their loyalty.

send Abueva to BGSM, problem solved :), Abueva embodies the never say die attitude anyway,

Next year will be the start of the PBA's own version of Unrestricted Free Agency (UFA). Do you think many top players would want to become an unrestricted free agent next year rather than sign again with their current team?

Also, I don't know if someone here already voiced this out, but by approving the UFA, the PBA board just gave Ginebra a huge boon. Many players, if given the choice, would want to play for Ginebra. The pool of players in the UFA will be like Ginebra's farm team, and they don't have to give up one of their current top players like Japeth, Pringle, Scottie, or CStan. They'll just sign who they want and many players will give them priority.

I don't think the UFA will be fair to other teams. The PBA board should impose some kind of restrictions.

They need to implement a strict salary cap policy.

Someone already did voice it out. January pa 'to issue.

Can't the PBA do its conference a la Jones Cup? Everyday may laro, for ~2 weeks, inside a bubble. Then bakasyon. Then bubble ulit a la Jones Cup, etc., until matapos ang conference.

Subic would be ideal should they revert back to bubble format, the Hotel and playing venue are all inside the Subic Bay Free Port Zone compound unlike the last time in Clark were they have to travel 15-20 minutes to AUF..I actually would like the 3rd window be held in Subic too

Better venues for local gatherings and sports events in Subic Bay Freeport Zone are now available to the public with the improvement of Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC) and Subic Gym in Zambales.

Department of Public Works and Hihghways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar said the improvement of the SBECC and Subic Gym has served as among the sports venues for the previously concluded 30th Southeast Asian Games.

In his report to Secretary Villar, DPWH Zambales Second District Engineer Hercules C. Manglicmot said that they have completed the rehabilitation of the 2,595-square meter Subic gym and tennis court, with a total cost of P87-million.

The 10,470-square meter Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center also underwent rehabilitation amounting to P94.49-million to accommodate more visitors and host more events.

“After the success of the SEA Games, the facilities are now to the public for them to experience and enjoy the newly-improved center and gym. After all, these infrastructure projects would not have been successful without the public’s support,” added Villar.

Yup salary cap won't work in the pba. Teams can say players a salary is 200k, but not included in his package are his game bonuses, championship bonuses, housing, car etc. The rich trams will just focus on that, so if I'm a free agent and an independent team offers me 150k with basic perks and not a good chance to win, while smb/ TNT offers me 80k, but with extreme perks, I'd go with the latter 10/10.
