Philippine PBA Trades, Releases, Sign-ups, Rumours (vol. III)

I wonder who will Ginebra give-up for CStand? An injury-prone Art Dela Cruz? SMH

Ginebra will need someone to replace Art (and Jared Dillinger) at the wing and small-ball 4 (which is the kind of 4 that Cone prefers) if that happens. They have to get one either through the draft or through trade.

SMB still depending on Junmar's health and plays.. w/o Junmar or unhealthy Junmar, SMB is predictable and they doing more on one on one iso plays.. Ginebra and TNT are still favorites here because of familiarity

Speaking of June Mar's health, another Snow rumor: https://snowbadua.ph/?status/76-76-1614306321/

"One superstar player had his leg reopened thrice by a surgeon.

Not good.

Player is trying to shed more pounds to help out in his recovery

Considering that his team needs him and he is the most dominant player of his era.

Praying for his quick healing."

Agree that June Mar is sorely needed with San Miguel. He's too much of a keystone player for them. Without his gravity, the shooters will have defenders all over them (which should really be the case even if he is there), and their effectiveness will be limited.

Yeng wants expansion to 15 teams: https://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba...ders-expanding-to-15-teams-a791-20210226-lfrm

He does make some good points.

WOW. BRAVO COACH YENG.

AS MUCH AS WE HATE COACH YENG AS A FIBA COACH.

He actually have some same ideas as us fans about Philippine Basketball.

Like, he is always saying that Big Man should be able to shoot from outside also. And di na daw uso slow big.

Ans here. He have some valid points enpanding Pba to 15 teams. And I LIKE THE IDEA OF 2 CONFERENCE

Well fans had been arguing for years that he needs lose weight and not bulk up..

About the bigs, it's worth noting that some of his bigs are able to play both big positions. Mike Miranda, Beau, Ponferrada, Quiñahan, probably Soyud. I tend to say that if a big is under 6'9", he should at least be able to play the PF position. At least Yeng's recent rotation bigs follow that to an extent.

A two-conference format is long overdue, let's face it. The current format with 12 teams doesn't give much leeway to Gilas. We've seen this in the 2019 WC.

....

A lot has been said about Kots Leo's alleged command to JMF to pile on the pounds ... that and running him aground with 40+ mpg (?) , they're riding this train till it falls off the tracks.

Filipino coaches should know the difference between bulking up and gaining weight, somehow local coaches think that adding weight would improve strength. that's why we don't have muscular bigs, can't remember if prime Taulava was ripped, but we barely see any ripped PBA big with 6 pack abs (no homo), most of them just bulgy

It would have been better for June Mar to improve his moves than to bulk up. He's already a finesse low-post big, so he should have just added on to that. Better if he had trained like Duncan and Dirk rather than like Shaq. Might have been a bigger threat without sacrificing mobility and health.

Well, that may just be my hindsight speaking. Finesse bigs weren't exactly that loved back then when June Mar was starting out, even in the NBA (though small ball was starting to take over, first with Miami, then with GSW).

general observation not only for bigmen but all players in the league in general, it seems that only a few invest in their bodies/physical conditioning (again no homo), must be due to the lack of a real off season

Whew!!! tumatayo balahibo ko ah!!! my idol Tiger Woods had a surgery on his open fractured on his lower extremities cause by that freak accident..indeed life on a sporting world is just a temporary moments.

Magpapainum ako sa mga barkada ko if its a Cstand for Slaughter trade:cool:

Greg, the 12th, and the 24th for Standhardinger, either or both of Kevin Ferrer and Sean Manganti, and the 13th is more reasonable for Ginebra. It also fills their immediate needs (which are forwards to replace JD and JDV) at once.

Frankly, just trading for Ferrer and/or Manganti is more reasonable long-term than trading for Standhardinger, who's about as old as their current core. They need good young players at the forward positions, and younger stars as well (which I hope Scottie and Arvin become).

The PBA 3X3 will be played, if in a non-bubble environment, across five one-day legs plus one Grand Finals per conference. If a bubble's needed then it'll be three two-day legs plus one two-day Grand Finals. The bubble will be 13 days in total. |

The PBA already has potential venues for the games but it'll still need approval from the IATF. |

I hope the 3-conference format does not apply to the 5x5 tournament. If it does, well, I hope it's only for transition purposes, then we go two conferences at the most. This should also make room for the FIBA Asia Cup, if it will be held as scheduled.
