Philippine PBA Trades, Releases, Sign-ups, Rumours (vol. III)

Depends if Alaska is willing to transact business with the SMC Group. Alaska has often pinpointed SMC as the principal violator of the salary cap and using its financial clout to gain undue and unfair advantage over the rest of the PBA teams. To deal with SMC is not unlike what Bong Tan did in 2002 when he traded his best players, Eric Menk, Rudy Hatfield, Dondon Hontiveros, among others, to SMC teams.

Tan did this to spite the PBA bigwigs led by Commissioner Jun Bernardino and prove that this was a SMC league. Wilfred Uytengsu may actually carry higher principles than Tan.

I say Powerade would trade that first round pick for scrubs and more cash. Barako can now ship Kramer to another SMC team. Meralco on the otherhand must outbid BUT it seems like SMC has the inside track in all these movements.

For BGK, I have read that E-Vill is asking for a trade. Can BGK just trade him to Powerade for that first rounder? Then they just pay the remaining of Enrico's salary. In this way, Powerade can save nad maybe earn some cash considerations from SMC.

E-Vill+Mairhofer for Thoss, what do you think?E-Vill is one of Joel Banal's best player in their Ateneo days.Ginebra, on the other hand needs a legit center which they currently missing after trading Reavis.

Yeah, problem is, Banal is not Alaska's coach anymore. It's already Luigi Trillo. And for what I know, Luigi is a true-green blooded Archer like his dad. His younger sib, Paolo, is blue-blooded...

Sorry I forgot.;)I thought Joaqui Trillo is a blue-blooded?

Joaqui is as green as you can get, not unlike how blue-blooded Mico Halili is...

I think TnT should trade for Gabe Norwood. A tall point guard might do wonders for Chot's dribble-drive offense. No more Castro being swallowed by Sampayan Brigade and it will lighten up time for Ryan Reyes, Castro and Alapag (who all went down injured in Game 7). Maybe Alvarez and Lao or some draft pick? As it is Yeng favors Lee and Tang as his PGs.

Barako Bull eyeing to transfer Arboleda and Allado to Air21 - as to which team can be a conduit is still being worked out.

Air21 is also eyeing Noy Baclao and previously "untouchable" Joseph Yeo, whose minutes have significantly dropped. SMC is now willing to let go of the two.

Interesting pair of trade rumors.

Arboleda and Allado will definitely help Air21's lack of experience. Allado can contribute big on this team. I assume Barako Bull is willing to take lesser players in this trade. Baclao and Yeo can make Air21 a dark horse team who can compete with any team in any game. Petron will probably ask for 1st round draft picks from Air21.

Not really surprising that Arboleda would want to move to a team that is fully owned by his wife's family. Regardless of how mediocre the team is. But yes, this is probably another ploy for Petron to ensure the services of Junmar.

Doug Kramer ‏ @DougKramer44
Done deal! 3 years with Barako! Thank you Lord!

Three years with Barako? Hmm..

Nag-iimpake na ang Powerade. (Powerade is packing its bags) - Lassiter, Kramer, Celino Cruz... Gary David might be the last to go hehe

norwood for lao, alvarez and a low pick?? are you insane?? norwood for ryan reyes straight up probably.

i dont think it is wise to let go of Yeo and Baclao at the present. Petron should postponed this decision until the result of the 2012 Draft this August...If they could get Fajardo and another fresh legs for the position of Joseph Yeo then it would be the time to part with them thru a trade but not after such time...

but aside from that rumored trade, did you hear any other trade activities being prepared involving Petron? thanks :p

actually Petron already owns the first round draft picks of Air 21 and Barako Bull for the 2012 PBA Draft this August. But perhaps Petron would want their 2013 or 2014 first round draft picks to secure their bid for the other amateur players who will not join or cannot be considered eligible yet for the 2012 draft...

But i pray that Alaska wont quit PBA. I hope that it will have the patience to wait for the day where there would really be a more competitive PBA league...I am pretty sure that there is no "bentahan" so to speak among sister teams. But it is clear that there are monopolistic tendencies by powerful clubs to get the players that they want from other teams willing to make the trade happened (for undisclosed reasons). To an extent, this lessens the competitive balance of the league...There must be a rule (either written in the stone or a silent one) among PBA members that they should join hands in scouting/getting fresh Filipino talents (local and foreign-based) that would continuously ensure the success of PBA in maintaining/ upgrading the brand of players in the league. They have to ensure that PBA would be able to bring them here and make them show their wares to the Filipino basketball fans. Like Stanley Pringle, he should not be playing with an Indonesian team but instead to any PBA team as a Filipino. The "malikhain" traits of some officials in the government must make it sure that their "malikhain" character would benefit, this time, the interest of the Philippine basketball. If they are really Filipinos by blood, then it's just documents...it's not fair that we be denied of their talents just because of rules technicality. If foreign basketball rules (FIBA) makes it hard for us to get the best Filipino talents in the pool, then we should make our local rules (even with the "malikhain" documents) flexible to work for our benefit. Let us ensure that they can play for flag and for our league.
