I would just like to emphasize that more than 20k troops is a very huge number for an ordinary military exercise. You add to that the risk of contracting Covid 19 is real and yet they chose not to postpone this, and you can’t help but deduce that something’s amiss.

Tama. Being “kampante” caused people in Italy their liberty. Outbreak has spread into an epidemic in just a few days because people (esp teenagers and young adults) went on with their lives as if Covid19 was nothing. They banked on a premise of low mortality and that it kills only people with weak immune system and/or have other serious illnesses. When football players started contracting the virus and some younger people not in the expected age range started dying, boom- a rude awakening. The government did a poor job containing the spread and Italy overtook S. Korea for the 2nd place in just a short period of time.

Too bad it has to come down to this. Guess it’s better to be inside our own houses than being inside a coffin or being intubated in the ICU. I hope people in Pinas becomes more responsible and the government do a good job so as not to resort into a lockdown.

When paranoia or overreaction becomes useful.

More often, its better to overreact & be labeled as paranoid than be complacent & arrogant and die as such

But panic and hysteria will also doom us.. it's better to remain calm and just follow WHO. Look at what's happening. This virus brought out the worst in people.

Italy 40k cases, 3,400 deaths toppling China who has double the positive case at 80k. 475 deaths the other day, the most in any nation. 8.2 % mortality rate, I would assume also among the highest. Lockdown would be extended for sure, and this time ot has no target date, indefinite lockdown. Very little regression on the number of new cases.

All these because people were so sure it was just a more severe flu.

The kids on spring break in the USA are singing the same tune the Italian kids were singing a couple weeks back. Hope they're ready for what's coming.

It's almost 20% in the Philippines.. and it's probably even higher than that as some cases are not reported/patients died before they got tested. With the state of our health care system currently is, expect those numbers to soar up once we got more testing kits.

If these kids are our future we're doomed.

Doomed it is for Italy. 672 deaths today! Talking about exponential rise in numbers.

Take care bro. We will outlast this virus.

Anyone one else find it disgusting that politicians are getting prioritized when it comes to testing? A lot of our frontliners can't even get tested even when they got exposed but politicians who are asymptomatic are tested for their "peace of mind" whenever they feel like it.

BTW, Kudos to all PBA players & coaches who are chipping in some of their hard earned money to help out their fellow kababayans in this trying times.

Thanks, bro. Kayo din lahat, wherever you guys are.

As much as we don’t like it, they are on top of the pecking order as far as privileges go. Akin to these healthy, asymptomatic NBA stars who have no business being tested if you think about it. But they can always say the resources (test kits) come directly from their own pockets.

My sister hasn't come home for almost 2 weeks now. I know people that are PUIs but aren't tested and just sent home and instructed to only come back when the signs are malala na. They aren't tested even if they are possiblity exposed to the virus while working in the frontline because there's not enough kits available. The condition of our health care workers back home was already bad way before the virus outbreak and now it's just disheartening.

Not their pockets. OUR pockets. Where exactly do our taxes go anyway? The frontliners and those at risk deserve to be tested, and the funds could be in place for mass testing, esp with the cheaper UP developed kit. But when it comes down to it there are almost 0 politicians in the Philippines who care about the people more than they do themselves, their families, and their lapdogs.

I really don't understand what perspective led you to believe that it's from their pockets. Unless you believe the millions stolen year after year really does belong to them.

I think he is referring to nba stars who used their own money.

I don't think he meant that..

Those a-holes should have followed the DOH algorithm like everyone else. They could have just taken a 14 day quarantine which was the protocol for those who got exposed but were asymptomatic but didn't and wasted kits that could have been used by someone who really needs it. They knew how limited and precious those kits are. They are indirectly responsible for the deaths of many pinoys.

Lol Looks like you need some chill pill. I was referring to those asymptomatic NBA stars. And even if I was referring to our politicians, it doesn't mean that if they'd actually (take note it was just my made-up alibi in these NBA players behalf, nobody ever claimed that in real life) say that, I don't think I'd be someone who'd believe such a thing. I was in public office for 6 years. I know how things work but thanks for the lecture anyway.

No need for such a tone. This is not the best time to be hostile, esp over a made-up scenario.

Almost 800 deaths TODAY for Italy. People are going down like flies, and unfortunately, it includes people who are relied upon to combat the disease. I've read a doctor in Manila died, too. This has gone beyond sad, it's depressing.

Medical personnel who were already retired were recalled, and students on the verge of graduation were accelerated to be part of the workforce already. Inspite of that, there is a massive shortage of personnel TV shows are recruiting anyone in the medical field to reinforce the frontline every commercial break.

It's impossible for the Philippines (lack of resources) but mass testing should be done. Asymptomatic carriers are the ones who are doing the most damage because they spread the virus far worse than PUIs and PUMs. So yeah, these test kits are precious commodities that should be put to better use.

He died daw because a patient lied about his travel history. And he only got tested 2 days ago because of protocols based on what I read.. aside from the number of testing kits another problem is we lack the labs so mass testing isn't just possible as of today. And people are still not taking the quarantine seriously. They're now asking for more volunteer doctors and nurses. So after years of abuse and exploitation they're now going to send them to their deaths without any compensation man lang?

^^After this is over, which we all hope is sooner than later, those in the medical fields should be given some sort of compensation. It might not be practical to do so in form of cash that’d be given right away as the economy is sure to suffer, but in terms of thrust funds or life insurance bonuses which they can use for the future, that’d be great.

As horrible the situation is in Italy right now, it would get even worse in days to come. The statistics point out to March 30-31 as the PEAK, meaning we ain’t seen nothing yet. From thereon, we could only hope the curve flattens. It is only by then that we could assess whether the lockdown has served its purpose or not. The people contracting the disease and dying, majority of them are highly likely to have contracted the virus BEFORE the lockdown.

Not to be the bringer of bad news, but expect the worst in the crucial 2 week stretch from hereon there in the Philippines. With the way people are not taking things seriously (esp these youngsters who insist on going out para tumambay), and couple that with a very high mortality rate, you better get your acts together or else the whole country will succumb to this pandemic.

They were neglected and exploited before that's why there's a huge shortage now. What's sad is a lot of those workers are probably just casuals and JOs. If something happens to them their family would get nothing. Yeah I don't expect then to be properly compensated with this economy and how bad things would probably be.

Somebody better get things in order quick. I fear we could overtake SK's number of cases if we don't control our people.
