Wright can be good if used well. Pogoy is lucky in coach dickel's system. Evident when coach yeng is the coach, pogoy sucks.

A great player will always be great no matter who the coach is. For example, Cj perez.

Wright and Pogoy are both system players. But atleast wright manage to be the star in phoenix.
And wright has more great games than pogoy.

wright actually was bad in yeng's system. he was firing blanks in the qualifiers, not part of world cup roster, labelled as soft in the forums (does not respond well to yeng curses?).

pogoy sucks in yeng's system as well because he has to create on his own one-on-one. if only tasked to do 3-and-D, he is an asset, have to see how he performs in Korea-level teams in Dickel/Tab system.

CJ perez is best in open court. though not magnified, maybe not optimal in a system, i have to re-watch how he played when playing offensive sets in Indo game (taken out early in 3rd qtr) because all the highlights are layups-from-turnovers. he gambles too much in defense, not sure if he is disciplined enough for a Korea-level opponent.

Thats what i noticed alao about CJ in that Indon game... Nasanay na sa PBA's isolation and solo play, lacjs discipline actually both in offense ans defense, masyado nag gagamble for steal that leads to open shots or foul... But a good transition open court player... If just in the Indonesia game Thirdy played better as he played within the system, better defense and good passes. Couod be due to familiarity of Thirdy to the system...

CJ perez could still be good disruptor (ala better Cyrus Baguio in 2009 vs SoKor), maybe serviceable in spurts for Gilas. hopefully CJ plays in next window

Compare pogoy to the likes of chan, fonacier, gary david, old dhontz. He is miles ahead. Point is, Pogoy is in gilas not because of tnt-affiliation.

true. he is good in both offense and defense. although guarding a pg wasnt his strong side he is more of a wing defender. he recognized mismatches and post up prastawa.

if he is still with columbian then he could and he can. if he gets traded to smb then yeah nah.

pogoy is a true swingman, who is most adept playing 2 and 3 on both ends. He shouldn't be asked to defend against PGs.

only if he was at least 6'6

we're not talking about ideal heights here but the realities of the situation. fact is Pogoy has played as a swingman throughout his career for FEU, TNT and Gilas despite not being 6'6. Same is true for Jeff Chan, Cyrus Baguio, Hontiveros, Matthew Wright etc etc, It's a consequence of our general lack of height.

Are you serious bro???? Jeff chan was a marked shooter last fiba world cup 2014. Opponents treats him as our best shooter besides alapag.
Fonacier too is an efficient shooter. But yeah you can argue about old gary and old dhontz. But if pogoy is in the level of an old players, then he is not that good.

Miles ahead?????LOL. Jeff and Larry contributed more in fiba world cup 2014 than pogoy contributed in fiba wold cup 2019.
And I believe our opponents last 2014 was tougher

I hope this game silenced pogoy’s haters even for a bit. Without the antics, pogoy is a decent 3 and d option for gilas. hustles hard, plays defense, knows the playbook. Can shoot as well.

The thing about Pogoy is that, about 4 to 5 years ago only a few (or perhaps nobody) thought that he would become a National team material. We have to remember, Pogoy wasn't really a superstar in college basketball. I think the Teng brothers - Jeric & Jeron, were bigger stars than Pogoy. Yet Pogoy has been a National team mainstay for almost 4 years now.

He may not have made as much impact as a Jeff Chan or a Marcio Lassiter did in the National team but its obvious that Pogoy has been a serviceable player for the National team.

So in a sense, Pogoy has exceeded most people's expectation.

Hontiveros was the Philippine team's No. shooter during the mid & late 2000's. Aside from his outside shot, Hontiveros was also a good wing defender.

I say compared to Fonacier & Gary David, Pogoy is better in so far as the FIBA game is concerned. But compared to Jeff Chan & Hontiveros, I think both Chan & Hontiveros are better than Pogoy in international basketball.

I concur, Dondon even in his twilight years was key in Gilas and although Chan's percentage went down overtime, he had alot of gravity in others teams defensive schemes after his 2013 FIBA Asia performance.

Gilas not having players like them is one of the problems w/ the roster construction. We don't have enough natural shooters to spread the floor so guys like Castro can ISO.

Thats why I said OLD dhontz. Prime dondon is miles ahead of pogoy.

Maybe Gary. Fonacier is more efficient than pogoy. Jeff is the best shooter in our gilas 2(Alapg is debatable).

Jeff was really marked in world cup 2014. They double him and deny him the ball.

Agree, we lack shooters. We have Kai and Edu solving our big man needs. Our guards us a surplus. We need wings shooters

Jeff was a good decoy who had his moments when he was actually free when they played the worlds. If we had more of that there would haven not have been problems w/ the DDO. A lot of our small speedster,ISO guards, and Point Center Blatche the past few years needed a shooter to playoff as they got stonewalled on a drive and settled on pullups.

The wing spot is the true weakness of the team. Shooting is another issue but having Clarkson as a small ball 3 would be a mismatch. But the team also need a backup for him when the qualifiers take place during the NBA season. Kobe and possibly Dwight could be the guys to solve that if it pans out.

If you really want someone you're the one who approaches them. Like the way he approached Abby Poblador.

what the F is chua talking about that they did not know which of their players will have expiring contracts as they have a lot?
if that is really the case, assuming that was indeed what happened, then I would suggest they fire their team manager as he is not doing his job. Wait who's GSM's manager again? LOL oh well.

Aren't they supposed to talk to the person before his contract expires? And they didn't even bother to talk to him till now? They don't even care that he went abroad without signing a contract even though he's their biggest trading chip? I call BS on this. They probably already talked and Greg didn't buy their BS kaya nagtampo
