Calvin Abueva attended the practice of Phoenix. I wish he stay in Phoenix Matthew Wright, Calvin Abueva and a top 6 pick in the draft next season. They are going to be contenders.

maybe Fred Uytengsu had enough of Calvin's antics at shenanigans..

too much off court BS on the part of Abueva which cost the Aces this conference, plus statistics has been inconsistent for the past few seasons..Also there was a rumor around here (@IBN a few years ago) that Abueva's documents are fake that he is really +5-8 yrs older, meaning he is already past his prime if the rumors are true....

According to my guy a lot teams cant deal with abueva thus limited offers.
Not much of a market for aging head cases who cant shoot

Seriously speaking, Columbia doesn't really need another quality guard like Parks, Bolick or CJ Perez as Jeramy King & McCarthy are proving to be quality guards in the PBA. What Columbia lacks is a quality big man. So I think picking either Parks, Bolick or Perez & use it as trade bait in exchange for a quality big man would be a wise move.

well they have escoto as one of the bigs :D

But seriously are there even 10 decent legit bigs in the PBA? let me define decent ( at least 6'7 and averages at least 7.5 rebounds)

I think 6-foot-4/6-foot-5 "fours" should be counted as bigs. Hence, guys like Cliff Hodge, Vic Manuel & perhaps even Perkins who is only around 6-foot-3, should be considered decent bigs.

Remember, we are talking about PBA competition here, not FIBA competition

I gather from your answer, there are no more than ten , 6' 7 decent bigs in the PBA?

Parang ganun na nga. Hehehe

But my point is, having quality 6-foot-4/6-foot-5 "fours" would also help the team a lot even in the absence of 6-foot-7 and above quality bigs. I think a team with quality guards -which definitely is not scarce in the PBA -, and quality 6-foot-4/6-foot-5 "fours" would make the team achieve within the .500 winning mark. That would be a significant improvement for a traditional cellar-dweller team like Columbia.

On the top of my head these are the top bigs in the PBA. Ranked in their effectiveness/potential in international play. I put the limit at 6'6. I didnt add the guys that havent really shown anything in the PBA yet. Including the ineligibles, we have 12.

1. CS 6'8 Ineligible
2. JF 6'10
3. GS 7'
4. JA 6'9
5. Erram 6'8
6. Almazan 6'8
7. Taulava 6'8
8. Sanggalang 6'6
9. Rosario 6'6
10. Caperal 6'8 - + good post defense, good perimeter touch, - below average rebounder and rim protector
11. Tautuaa 6'7 Ineligible
12. Nabong 6'6 Ineligible

with the scarcity of decent bigs you can see why Kia ( whatever their name is) will have difficulty getting someone good / decent big in return for trading their 1st pick
