this is a good suggestion coming from Alaska. However, I think the 50K is a bit pricey. maybe a 20% of cadets first year Pro Salary will suffice as allowance for player's rights.

Oh, its as if PBA teams are willing to wait for 2 to 3 years before they can make use of the "cadet" player that they have drafted. And to think that these teams have to pay these cadets 50k per month.

Eh ito nga lang na year in w/c marque amateur players won't be joining the draft in favor the Gilas cadet team eh umaangal na mga PBA teams that they won't be able to pick a marque rookie, what more if they have to wait for 2 to 3 years.

Good suggestion by WSU but why lend this amateurs players for 3 years if they can just lend PBA players for 1-2 weeks for home and away games? just like in football NT team only trains 1-2weeks chemistry will not be a problem if we send same line up every games... but ofcourse it won't happen because some teams are too greedy for sure may pananakot, injury and milions alibi nanaman just to stop their players to participate. so the best solution is the cadets talaga + MVP players ehehe gulo ko but i wish PBA just adjust their schedule but its imposible....

we'll let us remember that WSU doesn't speak for the board. this is just his opinion. but i agree with his opinion. this way pba is helping gilas cadets financially.that way SBP has a bit of an assistance financially.

I don't like the idea of giving the players picked a PHP 50000 allowance. This implies that the player has other obligations to the team aside from the exclusive rights. There should be no compensation for injury. Just give exclusive rights to the team picking. But subtract the required rookie contract duration based on how long the cadet deferred playing. If he deferred for 3 years, because of his Gilas contract, then treat him as a regular player. It would be a waste, if say a Ravena, proves himself internationally but would be tied to a rookie contract when he starts his PBA career.

This is how it is in the NBA if I'm not mistaken. Stars such as Manu Ginobil and Luis Scola deferred playing in the NBA. They didn't get any additional compensation but their NBA teams did not get any insurance for injury either.

unless the PBA and SBP comes up with a final rule on this. nothing is final. and no, it doesn't imply anything. what your thinking does imply something but it doesn't matter what you think. im sure pba and sbp can find common ground where both see eye to eye and end up with a compromise where it doesn't hurt both entities. until such time, nothing is implied, this was just a suggestion by WSU. of course there will be agendas and agendas change. and if you can take anything from WSU's comments, it simply means, the PBA can lend a helping financial hand to SBP for gilas cadets.

My ideal solution is the cadets be drafted, but there's a gilas clause where they are required to attend gilas practice once a week and mandatory pull out when gilas starts preparing for a fiba competition(maybe 1-2months).

Heck maybe even make it applicable to all Rookie, Soph and Jr pba. This will make top RSJ familiar with the gilas system, easier learning curve in the future when they join as sr gilas. It will be like a league wide player development program for the pba. Young players will gain experience and compete vs good competition. but then I woke, it won't happen lol

What if SMC handles Gilas?

Iirc SMC stopped lending players because MVP tried to poach them, giving them more money (under the table) Eg. Belga Chan etc.

easy fix: Let Gilas Cadets team join 1 or 2 conferences in the PBA. Adds value to the league and ticket sales. Gilas 1 joined a PBA conference and it only did great to both of them.

I meant not the players  "both" = PBA & NT.
NT had their needed training + PBA gate receipts.

As the late Heath Ledger's character said:

"Why so serious, son?"

AHAHAHAHA!

Baguio from Alaska was sent to Phoenix in exchange of 2017 twin draft picks
