Philippine PBA Trades, Releases, Sign-ups, Rumours (vol. III)

to be honest, these trades happen because team owners in reality think of casual fans as "dumb". In a way they only cheer when their team is in the playoffs and dont care who or how did they get the players.

Also another reason is, commentators or sportswriters do not have the guts to challenge the authority on trades. Unlike in professional sports in the states. Simply put, the PBA is a joke. I feel so sad that politics and power is taking over a sport that filipinos love, especially after Gilas.

i know that this is the bad side of the league.. unfortunate and sad but we cannot do anything about it.. that is how sports is.. that is how the WORLD works.. sports is business especially in the professional side.. that's how the world works.. deal with it..

with that said, let us look at the brighter side of things.. at this point, Petron, San Mig, Ginebra, TNT, Meralco, ROS and Alaska are all TITLE CONTENDERS on paper.. and all of them are the classic/traditional teams with a huge fanbase.. good for the league.. and let's face it huge for the fans..

let's face it.. if a gameday would feature Global Port, Barako, Air 21 and another team all at the same time, what will the arena look like?

PBA is business.. SPORTS is business = a known fact all around the world..

In mlb hoarding of players is rampant name it the yankees, the angels, the dodgers. While some teams in MLB are pseudo farm teams from this empire teams.

After swirl of developments, coach 'clueless' on what future holds for Barako Bull
From: Richard DyOctober 31, 2013, 04:09 pm

“Basta kami, at lalo na ako, I’ll just follow what management says,” says Barako Bull coach Bong Ramos. Jerome Ascano
EVEN interim coach Bong Ramos admitted he himself is clueless on who will be calling the shots for Barako Bull next season after a whirlwind of stunning developments in the team the past few days.

A day after Rajko Toroman’s surprise firing as active consultant, Ramos conducted the team’s one-and-a-half hour practice on Thursday at the Gatorade Hoops Center as “ordered by management."

The soft-spoken mentor describes himself as a “good soldier” who simply follows the orders of his “commanding officer," referring to the Barako Bull management.

“Basta kami, at lalo na ako, I’ll just follow what management says,” said Ramos, who was appointed head coach early in the year as Toroman took charge of the team as active consultant.

“I’m just a soldier, whatever they (management) want, I’ll just submit. Ano i-request nila sa akin, submit ako.”

Ramos solely called the shots at practice for the first time since Toroman was given the pink slip by management on Wednesday.

Toroman’s exit came was followed by reports Barako Bull is trading away its three first-round picks in Sunday’s draft as well as the trade of promising point guard Eman Monfort to Ginebra in exchange for Rob Labagala.

Ramos also disclosed the decisions on the team’s first-round picks in the coming draft remains hanging in the air pending the entry of the team’s new head coach.

Insiders claim current Petron assistant coach Leo Austria and team manager Siot Tanquingcen are on the short list of potential coaches for the team although no official statement had been given by management.

Ramos previously handled the team when the Energy Cola were still carrying the brand name Air21 two years ago until Junel Baculi was appointed to the post.

But Baculi was removed from his job last year, paving the way for his transfer to Globalport, while Ramos reverted to the head coach status.

Ok, its business, but you don't have to humiliate people. There're better ways.

You're right, but doesn't have to be ugly as it is. I am under impression that "the bitches" completely depend from Evil Empire. They have no power. All the decisions are made by RSA. But he is getting info and suggestions from R.Non and now new power man AlFrancis. Chua is the dirtiest guy ever. Norman Black experienced his plots years ago. At this moment he is united with Non because they're together in ruining Eala(who brought Chua to SMC). Moving Rajko from Barako is part of their battle with Eala. Al Francis wants to be back on the bench of Ginebra. He'll brake everyone's neck to achieve that. He is a coach with poor knowledge, who kisses players ass to be popular.
There're better ways to take talents that barako picks. Their way is brutal and humiliating.

Cowboys? Lol...they haven't been good in 2 decades. It's the Pats nowadays who have media sway in the NFL...

Now i know you're reading my posts intently....:)

But do you agree that the NBA, NFL & MLB are balanced leagues?

At least in the PBA, we have different teams winning the championship....go to russia or israel wherein the same teams (CSKA moscow & maccabi tel aviv) win the championship year in and year out... :)

look at the bright side, Ababou could pad his stats and increase his value,
If he could still play at the same level as before. Or he could intentionally play bad enough so the Gins would only need to trade a future second rounded for him.

PBA commissioner Chito Salud ‘should take control’ against lopsided trades, says Yeng Guiao
Rey Joble, InterAKTV · Thursday, October 31, 2013 · 8:47 pm

With the PBA draft only three days away and the new season less than three weeks from tipping off, there has been a flurry of transactions for trades and draft picks over the past week.

But some of the trades have been deemed by observers as imbalanced, drawing the ire of fans online.

On Wednesday, Barako Bull coaching consultant Rajko Toroman parted ways with the team. Sources close to the veteran Serbian coach said the development was in large part because of Barako Bull’s decision to trade three first round picks in the coming draft, which is regarded as a deep one.

The team is set to trade its No. 6 pick in the draft to GlobalPort in exchange for Petron backup guard Denok Miranda. There are rumors that their fourth and fifth picks will also be dealt away.

Barako Bull also traded promising guard Emman Monfort to Ginebra for third-string point man Rob Labagala, raising the eyebrows of many fans. Monfort, who will be entering his second year in the league, showed flashes of brilliance after winning Barako Bull’s starting point guard spot under Toroman in the Governors’ Cup, including a 25-point explosion against Ginebra.

Without pointing to one specific trade, Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said the burden lies on PBA commissioner Chito Salud to police transactions that could be deemed as imbalanced.

“The reponsibility to keep the league parity and credibility of the PBA lies on the shoulder of the commissioner. It’s up to him to take control of the situation,” said Guiao.

When he first took over as commissioner, Salud used his power to veto or revise trades that he deemed lopsided.

The last trade he vetoed came in February 2012, when he disapproved a deal that would send Powerade wingman Marcio Lassiter to the Petron Blaze Boosters for Noy Baclao and Rey Guevarra.

Salud made the decision to veto in the midst of a controversy about the status of the Powerade franchise, which was reported to be on sale even as team management denied it. The team ended up being sold later that year.

Lassiter still ended up being traded to the Boosters in a revised deal later that season, with Guevarra and Rabeh Al-Hussaini being sent to the Tigers.

RAIN OR SHINE DENIES TRADING BELGA, THIRD PICK FOR SECOND PICK IN PBA DRAFT

SYDNEY - Rain or Shine team governor Atty. Mert Mondragon vehemently denied rumors circulating that they already have the second pick after trading Beau Belga and their third pick to San Mig Coffee Mixers.

“No, that’s not true. We just signed Beau to a contract renewal last Tuesday,” said Mondragon in an interview with Solar Sports Desk in Sydney, Australia.

The soft-spoken official likewise hinted that they will exercise their third pick right, hoping to get the big man they have long lacked in their roster.

“Yes, we will pick third. Hopefully, makakuha na ng big man. Yan ang sinabi ni coach Yeng (Guiao) na kukunin niya,” he said, while admitting to getting tempted at quality guards who have joined the 2013 draft.

“Marami ngang talent eh. Kaso wala kami magagawa. We have to address our needs first. We have been lacking a big man - so big man kami,” added the former PBA chairman of the board.
Mondragon also bared that he has been receiving feelers from different teams regarding their 9th pick on Sunday’s draft.

He however revealed that coach Yeng Guiao has already declared his intention to also utilize it.
“Yes, gagamitin na namin. But coach Yeng told us na it will still depend on the situation,” said Mondragon.
“According to coach Yeng, he will decide on the draft day if he will trade it (9th pick) or not,” he said.

Meanwhile, only Jonathan Uyloan and Chito Jaime have so far remained swithout a contract renewal.
Mondragon said they are still keeping a tight watch on what kind of players they will get in the draft before they weigh their options on the two fringe cagers.

Coach yeng controlling the team unlike others in evil empire with the exception of cone

you didnt read the whole thing. I said sportwriters call out their teams when they do trades so dumb. An example is the grizzlies, when they handwrapped gasol to the lakers. You saw Steven A Smith go wild. When the yankees signed CC Sabathia to the huge deal. When the knicks traded all their assets to get Carmelo in 2011. I can go on and on. You have sportwriters/journalists who call their teams out in national TV or in the paper. Here in the country, they do it via blind items.

Also just to add, teams fire these managers who do these kinds of trades, here in the country, they are given extensions.
