a D-league within the Big League
to be honest, these trades happen because team owners in reality think of casual fans as "dumb". In a way they only cheer when their team is in the playoffs and dont care who or how did they get the players.
Also another reason is, commentators or sportswriters do not have the guts to challenge the authority on trades. Unlike in professional sports in the states. Simply put, the PBA is a joke. I feel so sad that politics and power is taking over a sport that filipinos love, especially after Gilas.
Maybe you havent heard about the lakers, yankees, cowboys, red sox, knicks, etc...
i know that this is the bad side of the league.. unfortunate and sad but we cannot do anything about it.. that is how sports is.. that is how the WORLD works.. sports is business especially in the professional side.. that's how the world works.. deal with it..
with that said, let us look at the brighter side of things.. at this point, Petron, San Mig, Ginebra, TNT, Meralco, ROS and Alaska are all TITLE CONTENDERS on paper.. and all of them are the classic/traditional teams with a huge fanbase.. good for the league.. and let's face it huge for the fans..
let's face it.. if a gameday would feature Global Port, Barako, Air 21 and another team all at the same time, what will the arena look like?
PBA is business.. SPORTS is business = a known fact all around the world..
Cowboys? Lol...they haven't been good in 2 decades. It's the Pats nowadays who have media sway in the NFL...
Now i know you're reading my posts intently....
But do you agree that the NBA, NFL & MLB are balanced leagues?

If he could still play at the same level as before. Or he could intentionally play bad enough so the Gins would only need to trade a future second rounded for him.look at the bright side, Ababou could pad his stats and increase his value,

salud should be in control? More like san mig is in control of salud. I expect to hear a mouthful from Uytengsu or trillo and a huge fine after that. PBA commissioner Chito Salud ‘should take control’ against lopsided trades, says Yeng Guiao

With the PBA draft only three days away and the new season less than three weeks from tipping off, there has been a flurry of transactions for trades and draft picks over the past week.
But some of the trades have been deemed by observers as imbalanced, drawing the ire of fans online.
On Wednesday, Barako Bull coaching consultant Rajko Toroman parted ways with the team. Sources close to the veteran Serbian coach said the development was in large part because of Barako Bull’s decision to trade three first round picks in the coming draft, which is regarded as a deep one.
The team is set to trade its No. 6 pick in the draft to GlobalPort in exchange for Petron backup guard Denok Miranda. There are rumors that their fourth and fifth picks will also be dealt away.
Barako Bull also traded promising guard Emman Monfort to Ginebra for third-string point man Rob Labagala, raising the eyebrows of many fans. Monfort, who will be entering his second year in the league, showed flashes of brilliance after winning Barako Bull’s starting point guard spot under Toroman in the Governors’ Cup, including a 25-point explosion against Ginebra.
Without pointing to one specific trade, Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said the burden lies on PBA commissioner Chito Salud to police transactions that could be deemed as imbalanced.
“The reponsibility to keep the league parity and credibility of the PBA lies on the shoulder of the commissioner. It’s up to him to take control of the situation,” said Guiao.
When he first took over as commissioner, Salud used his power to veto or revise trades that he deemed lopsided.
The last trade he vetoed came in February 2012, when he disapproved a deal that would send Powerade wingman Marcio Lassiter to the Petron Blaze Boosters for Noy Baclao and Rey Guevarra.
Salud made the decision to veto in the midst of a controversy about the status of the Powerade franchise, which was reported to be on sale even as team management denied it. The team ended up being sold later that year.
Lassiter still ended up being traded to the Boosters in a revised deal later that season, with Guevarra and Rabeh Al-Hussaini being sent to the Tigers.
