How about a surprise on draft day? The 2nd pick was dealt to Alaska for Thoss + future 1st rounder, so the 2/3 of Pinatubo will be reunited!!

That would be a very big gamble on Alaska's part. Right now Thoss is the best center in the PBA while Junmar and the incoming towers would need 2-3 seasons to achieve full potential. Unless the deal is very sweet Alaska will hold on to Thoss...

Who do you will Tnt select then? Holstein? they need a bigman badly

They got Rob Reyes from a recent deal right? i do think De Ocampo-Anthony is a good frontcourt already and they just need the Rob Reyes types (maybe another) to fill out the roster.

Gilas intends to Qualify for the 2016 Olympics!!

Please verify in the PBA site since I am unable to find it. the PBA will rally behind Gilas and the FIBA WORLD CUP, hoping that by reaching the Top 16 we will qualify for the Olympics. I believe this is not a done rule yet.
However, If this is true, then I guess this is the reason why Gilas is trying to get to the 2nd round.

here's hoping that we can reach that 2nd round come FIBA World Cup 2014! :)
I believe hindi pa to official na rule ng FIBA. But

And Kelly Williams? (i read somewhere that he'll be back this coming season)

That too... Even a 50% Kelly will be better than any prospect not named Slaughter, Sanggalan and Almazan. IF TNT gets that 8th pick i do think they will get a guard.

Almost. The entire plan was Monfort to Ginebra, Ross to Petron, and Denok to Barako. The showstopper was Denok to Barako - wouldn't happen as long as Rajko is "consultant."

Meanwhile, Belga finally inks max deal wit ROS...

You're right probably about Rajko's opinion about Denok, but logic tells me that no one from Barako can stop the action of SM. If he couldn't stop the trade of Maliksi(their best player) and Kramer, than probably it will be the same with Monfort or any other player. The coach of Barako(whoever he is) is in the most difficult position from all the other coaches. They just don't have free hands to make the team.

if that happens (TNT getting the 8th pick) then they'll probably pick justin melton.

As excitement over rookie draft builds, fringe players like Gaco fear for jobs
From: Snow BaduaOctober 29, 2013, 05:24 pm

THERE'S a flipside to the excitement that's building up ahead of the PBA rookie draft, wherein players with mouths to feed endure sleepless nights wondering if they'd still have jobs in the pro league next season.

Count Jerwin Gaco among them.

Like most of the fringe players who occupy the ninth to 14th spots in the teams' lineups, Gaco fears for his job as another wave of younger, talented rookies aim to land places in team rosters after Sunday's draft.

Gaco was last seen celebrating another championship with San Mig in the Governors Cup finals, but he has an expired contract and unsure if someone from a deep, talent-laden rookie poll will be tapped to take his place beginning next season.

“Syempre pag ganitong panahon, kinakabahan ako. Kasi tulad ko one year, one year lang ang contract ko,” said the former Dela Salle Green Archers forward.

“Hindi mo rin kasi maiaalis na papasok yung mga mas bata … yung iba sa kanila syempre maiisip mo, ‘Naku, mas magaling sa akin yun. Kapwesto ko pa, paano na yan?’ Yan ang tanong mo sa sarili mo lagi,” he added.

The competition to be among the league's top stars is great, the burly bruiser admitted, but he pointed out that it's just as hard to keep your place in a league that has resisted expansion for the last 13 years.

Red Bull was the last expansion team allowed to join the league back in 2000.

“May pressure talaga ako every year na dumadating yung drafting," said the free agent. "Mabigat kasi lagi ang competition sa amin. Lalo na sa mga katulad ko."

In the same boat is Rain or Shine role player Chito Jaime, who has an expiring contract and like Gaco is keeping a close watch on how the Elastopainters' lineup will shape up after draft.

Rain or Shine has two first-round picks in the drafting and is expected to select Letran star Raymond Almazan - a big man like Jaime - at No. 3 overall.

Gaco's San Mig side will also likely nab another big man, Ian Sangalang, with the second pick overall.

“Taon-taon yan ang naiisip ko. Pero syempre, thankful tayo kay God kasi surviving. Tayo naman hindi na naghahangad ng (mahabang) playing time … Basta ako ready to play anytime,” said Jaime.

“Syempre, gusto pa rin natin nasa PBA. Kaya nga sa practice, ibinubuhos ko ang lahat. Mahirap din ang walang trabaho,” said the 30-year-old forward.

Jaime, who has a six-year-old daughter with wife Rose Ann, has been in and out of the league since he was drafted 14th overall by Sta. Lucia Realty back in 2008.

Now he's trying to hold on with a hope and a prayer.

“Nakikiramdam na lang tayo. Syempre, sinasamahan ko ng matinding panalangin. Yun naman ang susi sa lahat eh,” said Jaime. “Basta kami ng misis ko, mapag-aral lang namin 'yung anak namin okay na sa amin 'yun.”

As the anxiety among fringe players build between now and Sunday, Gaco and Jaime can only hope they'd still be around when the league finally opens its doors to new member teams.

“Yun rin ang panalangin ko. Maagdagan ang team para kahit papano, maraming malaruan na team ang mga players. Kahit mga dalawang teams, Okay na yun,” Gaco said.

“Sana nga madagdagan ang team. Kasi madaming talent dito sa atin,” said Jaime.

With SMC and Ginebre getting top picks this yr, wouldn't surprise me if Petron gets 1st pick next year. Hello Bancheroooo (since I want henry sy to have a pba team with parks)

well lets hope that tan will change his heart and joins PBA again and with Probably BDO.

A good frontline indeed but I think they need a tall center to match up with the other teams bigs.

Was the kerby-reyes trade the first direct SMC-MVP trade since j-wash for castro years ago?
