Bmeg tried to get emmett years ago but his asking price was too high...

Emmett is indeed expensive... He's getting one of the highest salaries at the moment in Lebanon (something like 400,000 US$ for the season and he had joined Amchit in mid-December after the league had initially started at the beginning of November)

Sir, do lebanese fans send death threats to players too? :o

If not, they are not true fans.

True fans send death threats :D

Nah... If they did, these fans would most probably end up in jail... Generally it's the fans from opposing teams that are getting into huge fights so that's why this year the Lebanese federation decided that no 2 team fans can be in the stadium together and specifically in the big derby games... example Sagesse-Riyadi, Champville-Riyadi, etc...

wow that's over 16 million in Philippine Pesos .... much bigger than what Marcus Douthit is getting. How long does a basketball season normally takes to start and finish in Lebanon? In our Douthit's salary, it actually stretched from January to December.

Players, coaches, request the amount for the whole season, in other countries. Usually that amount is payed through 10 salaries (and here through 13), because normally that is how long the playing season is. Meaning, 13 salaries here doesn't mean bigger money. 400.000 usd is not that big amount comparing with some in Europe. Highest payed player is Krstic, center from Serbia, plays for CSK(Russia) for 3.000.000 euro.

That is the dilemma of having small stadiums in Lebanon. But what can we do it is the convention given how small lebanon is..Oh I never imagine if Lebanon have big time college league to cater these players

Yean this year the top Lebanese teams (Sagesse, Riyadi, Champville, Amchit and Mouttahed) are all spending much more money than they used to in previous years... Many businessman and sponsors have noticed how important basketball is and how the stadiums are always packed with fans (generally speaking) and that why they have decided to invest more into the teams and Lebanese basketball.

The Lebanese league lasts around 6 months. So it starts in November and usually ends towards the end of April / beginning of May... There are a lot of breaks during the season... For example the league stopped for 2 weeks between December and January due to Christmas and New Years and many foreign players went for holidays to visit their families... During end of January and February the league again stopped for almost 2 weeks as the Lebanese NT was participating in the WABA Championship that was taking place in Iran.
I hope from now on though there won't be any more breaks as this is affecting the teams and level with the inconsistency of amount of games being played.

Man CSKA have their own customized airplane for their team and players so for sure we can't compare with them :p ... or with any Euroleague team in that matter except maybe the smallest teams that have a budget of around 1 million Euros.

I think CSKA's budget for this year is close to 45 million Euros which is really huge!!!

Yeah unfortunately that's the case... I mean Lebanon has a population of just arounf 4 million so having stadiums that are more than 10,000 capacity would make no sense as they wouldn't be filled up unless we build that stadium for an event like the Asian Championship (for the future).
Many colleges have really small basketball gyms and some don't even have bleachers... In Lebanon unlike in Philippines young kids are committed to their basketball teams rather than their colleges and many of the good players who might still be attending university would only play for their team in the Lebanese league and not with their college... Also many teams refuse this (letting their players play with their colleges and universities) as they are paying them good salaries and wouldn't want to risk them getting injured playing with another team.

Prokhorov owns both CSKA and the Nets, right?? Iba talaga ang mapera! The difference is in the $$$$..

Sir khalid As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatulahi wa barakutu...

Out of curiosity regarding Pro League in Lebanon how do Teams profit? is is tickets reciept or something else? becuse if you can see if there's a limited fanbase and in most cases where venue are not filled by people then how come these teams were able to pay their imports such huge amount of cash and also players like EL-Khatib whom I think have a bigger salary...

Fact is our basketball is American-influenced that's why like the US, we have a strong varsity leagues in both High School and College. When I was researching on other countries why their schools have no problem releasing players to the U16 or U18 National Teams, I found out our American set-up even though we are using this for almost a century already is actually not the standard, as most of the countries does not have a varsity program in schools, colleges or universities but instead have strong Sports or Athletic Clubs which not only have Pro Players but they do have their own stable of kids. So even as kids these players are usually semi-professionals, so a number of them just dont go to school, home schooled or module type education via internet. While those who go to school are actually not excused from school but they are allowed to go on leave-of-absence as a sort of service to the country. With no school sports league competitions, losing said players for some time is not a problem for schools which have Youth National Players. Like in Asia, its actually Japan and South Korea which has school varsity programs instead of strong athletic clubs, that is because once upon a time this 2 countries were controlled by the US and they followed only the set-up by their former "Masters". The Athletic Clubs are setted-up via geographic means and do note being members of these clubs, you need to pay the membership dues. Also found out especially on the kids, most of the teams have the players pay for their own airfare and is not covered by sponsors like we here in the Philippines do. Talking to the our legendary players, I was surprised that it was really the practice also in the past here in the Philippines that if you are chosen as a National Team Player, you pay for your own travel so they'll do it either thru their own means or by soliciting with their own personal sponsors.

Pareng Sergio teams don't really profit in the Lebanese league :p Most of the teams are supported financially by either big businessmen or rich families and the smaller teams mainly have sponsors but it's not enough as they still incur a lot of costs and expenses and can't compete with the bigger teams.
