So it's also true in Iran.. But your country is STRONG in this sport! Bad thing you got beaten by the Eastern Asians to the WC slot..

Yes we are still weak and is ranked 169.. But we don't play with one/two/three Fil-Fors in the starting eleven anymore.. Maybe only Emilio Caligdong could be the only homegrown talent in that 1st 11.. That could be possible.. And the youth program is looking good though some results show we are really behind other countries in the development..

I still think Emilio is at his absolute best when inserted after the half. He has some trouble pacing himself if he starts, from my own observation, which takes aways his huge speed advantage over average SEA counterparts.

i saw that game on TV. it was just a cruel ending at Barotac Nuevo, 3-0 win against Bhutan in the mud but Tajikistan beats Brunei 4-0 on a more-maintained pitch at Iloilo City... and we don't qualify on goal difference.

it's an irony that Barotac Nuevo has produced quality players that get pirated by the Air Force, and eventually the National Team since the 70's... and yet it doesn't have a world-class pitch.

yeah, the Iloilo Sports Complex is the best Football arena in the Visayas.

If only it didn't rain in the game vs Brunei...........

Yeah I get you.. He steps on the gas from the start.. He may be quicker than those guys but it would be useless if he's exhausted in the crucial points of a match..

My brother was a former mod of the PFF website but he left because he and his compadres weren't given any form incentive by the federation specifically the most venerable Jose Mari Martinez.

The website still sucks btw. He's currently playing for SIKAD FC. Isn't our national futsal coach Iranian?

I used to train with sikad f.c. back in my HS days, yet the older pips there keeps on bullying us kaya un we decided to join Sunday F.C. in

yes Iran is still strong (of course in asian level) and still can beat any team in Asia but Iran was stronger. and this extra attention to football hurts both sides (football and other sports).

yes, it is sad that we are not in South Africa, especially because World Cup slot was in our bag and we were just 8 mins away from the world cup ! but it happens in football !
congrats to Eastern Asians but Iran didn't lose to any East Asian team, Iran lost only and only 1 match in the whole qualification tournament and that was Saudi Arabia.

this is even worst !

I checked you team in AFC Futsal 2010 qualifier and yes !

he is not alone ! at least 4 of your players are Iranian :D (number 1, 9, 10 and 5)

when do you guys think will phil will qualify for the world cup? it's like a very distant dream..far more distant than our basketball dreams for the national team..i really hope that phil football/soccer improves...

Like you said, it is a VERY distant dream.. But before we even think of reaching that stage, we must first conquer SEA, which is already a daunting task.. Unlike basketball where we are the kings of the hard court..

I agree. And maybe making the Olympics in football is far more achievable than World Cup if given enough emphasis..There are a lot of good young footballers in RP..I think there is an age restriction in Olympic football, 23-under plus a couple of over-23's?...

Any good Azkals fansites

Any good Azkals fansites

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums. Was just wondering if any of you knew any Azkals fansites? I would really like to know more about them. Am currently in Auckland and I wish I was watching my own country's football team in the World Cup right now.

Any response would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I used to read about the Azcals on bogsie.com Sports Addict! blog. (The moderator stopped posting for awhile though.)

Then there's the facebook group dedicated to the Azkals.

That's the best I could do, I hope that helps somewhat.:)

We reallly don't have a lineup as available players are called up only when there is an up and coming tournament. So it just boils down to who are available and fit enough to make the team. The last noteworthy additions, I believe, were Fil-Dutch midfielder Jason De Jong(5'8) and Fil-Brit goalkeeper Neil Etheridge(6'4). I am assuming you already know Chad Gould, Anton Del Rosario, and Greatwich brothers since they came in before the Younghusbands..hmmm should we count Aly Borromeo? I will not..and also the Hartmann brothers who came in almost at the same time as the Youghusbands..There are some more but their talent level is really not far ahead of the locals so they really don't make the final lineups unless any of the aforementioned are unavailable. I'm sure there are awesome future deliveries, let's wait for next year..:)

Philippines Men`s NT in 4-Nations tournament !

if our goverment allowed our football association to imitated Philippine's immigration policy by naturallized Players overseas with indonesians blood or ancestry, we might be become asian powerhouse today ..

in Dutch leagues alone there are hundreds players with indonesian ancestry, infact many of them capped by Dutch NT the like of ;John Heitinga,Giovanni Van Bronchorst,Roy Makaay,Denny Landzaat,Bart Latuheru,Sonny Silooy,Michael Mols etc..
some of them (Indo-dutch) want to play for us btw such as Sergio van Dijk one of aussie league top scorer, Radja nainggolan play for Piacenza Serie A Italy, Irfan Bachdim former Ajax Amsterdam but many reasons preventing them to play for Indonesia,

so IMO you Pinoys should be gratefull on your goverment policy on this.

Spot on satria_muda. If only you employ the same method, you would
have been dominating Asia. There are really a lot of good Dutch players of Indonesian ancestry. When the search for Fil-Foreign footballers became a fad for Pinoy football fans, we usually end up with very Pinoy looking Dutch players who turn out to be of Indonesian ancestry instead..:D

2005 SEA games Football

2005 SEA games Football

Since there was no basketball at the team sports competition, Football became the number 1 team sport on the said games. The enthusiasm was at an all time high. The results were

RP 0 THAILAND 1

RP 4 CAMBODIA 2

RP 2 MALAYSIA 4

Despite the losses and failure to reach the semi finals and further on, it was refreshing to see football on top of the headlines on tabloids and major bulletins.

I watched the Women's Football on Marikina Sports complex.:)
