this post by sergio23 is in the Philippines NT 2010 thread of the philippine section. brought it here to lessen the OT-ness.
hope you dont mind it sergio23.:)

OT:

The Azkals will be revamp according to Mister Martinez. So its not only in Basketball, even in Football the bad spirits are also trying to distract the team. in the first place why revamp when the team is doing good Internationally right?
We are on the right track but some Abnoy disguise as Pinoy are now closely working for our national teams destruction.

who the f*ck is martinez? is he a Filipino?
correct me if im wrong guys, but the Philippines receives money support from FIFA right? maybe that's what alarms that martinez guy. there will be lesser time to enjoy the funds coming from fifa. his pocket doesnt want to reduce.

btw,how do refs rule an off-side? it always ends the excitement(atleast for someone as ignorant as me :D)..hehe
nakakahiya.when friends asks me what happened in a certain play, i cant answer them..i was a football player pa naman when i was in elementary.and i dont even know the rules or anything. up until now i didnt know how i survived those days. lol

you must not be ahead of the defender upon receiving the ball inside the box... or so i think...

I'm not sure if I can articulately put it into words but here's how I understand it, the recipient of the pass should be behind the last defender(excluding the GK) when the pass is made..It doesn't matter if the recipient is outside or inside the box..He can be ahead of the defender when he actually receives it but should always be behind until the ball leaves the foot of the passer.:)

Here's how to explain it better..

That's why it is kind of hard to score a goal in football..

If you put it in basketball sense, you're cutting away the breakaway fastbreak.. It's kind of easy actually..

than11 made an effort to explain it.. But I made the same one to the people that ask me and they still don't understand it..:D

looks like Indonesian Striker Irfan Bachdim made Reidl a bit mad

Alfred Riedl admonished Irfan Bachdim
Riedl demanded his players to fully concentrate on the semi-finals ahead of the party.

VIVAnews - Concentration full. This is what is demanded Alfred Riedl on his troops before the AFF Cup semi-final against Philippines on Thursday, 16 December 2010.

The players no longer allowed to conduct interviews in the hotel area. Especially if you have to come to the studio in particular.

Public and media attention to the national team's success soared after they won Group A with a record one hundred percent. Now not only bona fide soccer enthusiast who cared for them. Impromptu too many pop fans especially after learning there is a handsome nimble players named Irfan Bachdim.

Bachdim already felt the reprimand Riedl. After practice on Saturday (11/12), bloody Dutch striker was 'mugged' television reporters to pronounce a sentence which is specified in front of the camera.

"Come Irfan, do not let them mengaturmu," said Riedl.

Bachdim looked confused by the warning. But the pace was still detained by reporters earlier. Seeing the situation, Riedl looks pissed and wiped his face with his hands.

This makes Riedl judge was time he has implemented strict rules on his players for not berintreaksi with things other than football affairs. If there is a breach, Austrian coach did not hesitate to punish by not playing in the match.

like whats happening to Irfan, the azkals are getting too much media attention, their assignment ain't over. people flock anywhere they go, I do hope this won't do damage to the Azkals focus.

I agree with you.. the media attention and other stuffs they're doing are not helping... sure some deserving attention is necessary but enjoying it too much will distract them from their practice and focus in the upcoming semi-final series... We did great in the Group Stage but winning in the Play-offs is another level...

---------------------------------

About the OFFSIDE:

You must not be ahead or in front of any defender at any given time or any place in the field unless you're converting a penalty.. unless if you're one of those sneaky people that can trick not just the defenders but also the referee and the sideline refs...

Good Morning!

On the topic of Offsides:

No offensive player must be ahead of the last defender before the ball leaves the foot of the passer.

On Mr. Martinez:

Why the hell would he revamp a team that has achieved so much. There is nothing wrong with the current team, really. The only problem is, Mr. martinez, doesn't have the support and loyalty of the team. Sad that there are people like this who exist in Philippine Sports.

I hate how these newspapers publish good things about mari martinez, i bet they're a getting a share of those missing funds from fifa

Its like Martinez hired media spin doctors and delusion people from the truth.. of course, lets remember that Philippine media is own by the elites and Martinez belonging to that social class, its their duty to protect/defend one of their own... their interest comes first before national interests...

Haay, instead of saying the truth, instead they take side to martinez shady reputation. Shame on that newpaper, their motto pa naman is "The Truth Will Set You Free".

Nurdin Prediction Score Indonesia - Philippines
Currently, most importantly how to keep the concentration of management and coaches to focus.

VIVAnews - Chairman of PSSI, Nurdin Halid sure Indonesia would win the duel in the semi-final opponent Philippines AFF Cup 2010, 16 and 19 December 2010. Nurdin even have a prediction score for the game.

"I've always believed and still believe that Indonesia can win versus the Philippines. If the prediction of the score, 3-1 to Indonesia," Nurdin said after watching a team practice, Tuesday, December 14, 2010.

Nurdin assess the technical preparation of the national team is ready. Currently living how national team coaches and management to maintain the concentration of the players to stay focused on the fight versus the Philippines.

Away Goal Means Nothing in Semifinal & Final
Regulation of the AFF Cup is different from the common practice in the European Champions League.

VIVAnews - Six countries become 'participants remain' AFF Cup 2010. They added the two countries that qualify to fulfill the eight participants in the group phase.
Furthermore, although only eight participants, the road to get to the final was not a short trip. To become a champion, a team must play in seven games. Three in the group stage, two in the semifinals and two in the final.
That is not a plus if the respective country escape from the path of qualification such as the Philippines for example. If you qualify for the finals and became the champion, The Azkals total played in 10 games. Philippines through joint qualification Laos hosts who eventually became the champion of this phase, Cambodia and Timor Leste.

For the semifinals and finals, the match was held with a system of home and away or home and away. Teams that have a better goal difference in the two parties (home and away) will come out a winner.
And if the goal difference on 90 minutes of the second party is still the same game, the game will be followed by an extension. If in 2 x 15 minutes extra-time still remains a draw, the winner will be decided through penalties.

This means that away goals do not mean in the semifinals and finals if the result is still the series. This is different to that commonly done in the European Champions League which apply if the away goal rule will be more valuable than the party's goal in the cage because it is calculated 2 times.

For example in the Champions League, if the party team draw 2-2 away to a party later in the cage again drew 1-1, then the team will be the winner because it scored more in the cage opposite, despite the same goal difference.

Another example, if the party lost away 1-2 and 1-0 win in the cage party then that team emerged as winners because they can score goals away on goal difference, although more of the same.

Indonesia on Thursday, December 16, 2010, the party will play an away semifinal against the Philippines in Senayan. A draw even with a big score would not be of much use. (One)

its his way of saying "I can do better than Palami" but he's been given 3 years and nothing was conceived out of those missed opportunities.

As a fan, I hate to see the Azkals hit the road to play a "home-game" on foreign soil. It's a cruel way to enjoy the advantage they richly earned. But it isn't time to crucify the scoundrels responsible for the Azkals' ironic banishment just yet. The spotlight is best reserved for men on the pitch. Besides, I don't think it's the worst thing to play the biggest games of their lives away from their biggest enemies here at home: fair-weather friends, grandstanders, posers, leeches.

They come in all shapes and forms. Some are new. Some, especially the most prominent ones, have been stalking this team from the start (I suppose these are the true die-hards). I suspect the ones who profess their undying love for goal-keeper Neil Etheridge on Facebook pose less harm than the ones who profess new-found devotion to football through privilege speeches and photo-opportunities. I don't doubt the sincerity of all who wish to chip in. The Azkals, after all, inspire us to forget about left hooks and slam dunks for a moment and understand what aggregate goals mean. It’s the latest sports "bayanihan" movement.

Look, I am likewise new to the cause. I will never claim otherwise. I only learned how to correctly pronounce and spell McMenemy yesterday. I know the Azkal legend was created back in 2005. I also know the legend has grown a thousand times since. Yet I don't believe everything I hear – who to praise for what, who to blame for which. Neither should you. Politics can make dreamers into cynics. It also pushes recalcitrant crooks to act like renaissance men. It's all smoke and mirrors. I'd rather concentrate on the real deal.

Why should our Azkals set sail into hostile territory anew? Because they're better off focusing on the real deal too. It's not the extra-curricular activities off the pitch that matter. After looking at some of the personalities who are scrambling to join the parade, I'm even more convinced.

I know Bacolod is heart-broken. Panaad devotees deserve to host a Suzuki Cup match and shout themselves hoarse. But I worry about the barong-tagalogs out to steal limelight or steal, period (which they often do). I worry about unreasonable demands for the Azkals' time. I don't worry about the pressure of playing at home and winning for the benefit of a riotous home crowd. They won in Vietnam. They can win in Jakarta too. These Azkals thrive on duress. But not the kind of duress created by individuals who care little about the game and more about the benefits of media exposure.

Maybe I'm unpatriotic since I think the Azkals can adeptly play before 80,000 non-believers. Maybe I'm unpatriotic because I want the best thing that has ever happened to Philippine football to stay as far away from the political circus as possible. Maybe I'm unpatriotic for wanting the Azkals to prove they can win against anyone in this tournament, anytime, anywhere. Maybe I'm being unreasonably unpatriotic because I believe. - GMANews.TV
