* Reports are out that new Azkal Javier Patino will now play in the Thai League for Buriram United. He is scheduled to fly out today for a medical exam, and if he passes he will be signed to a new contract. * Azkals needed at least 7 goals to ensure qualification in the AFC Challenge Cup next year, and they scored 8. Here are the goals:

* Valuable insight into the game. The Azkals are in the Challenge Cup, unless they lose by more than 7 goals to Turkmenistan, which is highly unlikely. The Azkals still will be pushing for a win at our home turf tomorrow against the Turmenistanis. Javier Patino scores a Brace right on his debut for the Azkals, but Phil Younghusband shows everyone who's still the boss by scoring 4 goals ... Azkals 8, Cambodia 0. Postgame thoughts on a wild one

* The Azkals beat Turkmenistan, the first time in our history, to top Group E of the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifying Tournament. We now advance to the 2014 Challenge Cup in Maldives. Turkmenistan is a favorite to win the Cup as they were the runners up in the last Challenge Cup. IMHO, the winner of the Challenge Cup will be down to the Philippines and Turkmenistan. Whoever plays well enough next year will win the tournament, and be "promoted" to compete in the Asian Cup ... Nice find, Silent Killer. There is already the AFC President's Cup, but this involves competitions among clubs from all of Asia, including the powerhouse countries like Japan and South Korea.

This new league is better because it is closer to us, and admittedly, not as tough as the President's Cup. Besides, if the ABL is already there, how much more a regional league for Football?

AFC Presidents Cup is supposed to be a club competition for the lower tier countries in Asia di ba? ACL is where the big boys play while AFC Cup is somewhat a 2nd tier competitions for clubs in Asia.

Phnom Penh Crown from Cambodia has already placed 2nd in the AFC President's cup, I doubt if a top team from Cambodia can beat the clubs from Thai Premier League or even from the Malaysian League.

My bad, I got it all confused. You were right, here is more info about the tournaments ...

- AFC President's Cup

- AFC Champions League

- AFC Cup

A couple of National team players from smaller countries like Cambodia and Laos actually also play in the Thai League. Next door neighbor, more competitive and lucrative league, so easier for them ...

It is SOOO funny that, last year, Filipinos were very excited when Fil-Foreigner Coach Erik Spoelstra took the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals. He was invited and came a couple of times to the country, he even shot some commercials, and did some shows.

This year, not only do we have a "Coach", but we have a STARTING PLAYER in the Finals of the best Club Football competition in the entire world, the UEFA Champion's League. And that player is DAVID ALABA of Bayern Munich.

David not only started, but will continue to start for Bayern Munich in the Finals.

The UEFA Champions League Finals is still 3 weeks away, on May 25, 2013 at the Wembley Stadium.

Here is David Alaba's official Facebook Fan Page. I wonder if he will get the same treatment as Erik Spoelstra ... https://www.facebook.com/pages/David-Alaba-offizielle-Seite/355056947886801?fref=ts
