I think Azkals will qualify for the main tournament. I haven't seen the current team of Laos but Azkals can take care of just about any team in SEA if the team is complete. I just hope they will be complete when they compete in the main Suzuki Cup..unlike the last time out, when they looked like a better team in the qualifiers..

I am a little disappointed in a draw, but I'll take the point. Philippines is in a must win now and hopefully, the team can pull through. Cambodia is beatable and the Philippines have beaten them.

First goal came when Chiefy Caligdong was getting treatment on his injury, leaving RP to 10 men for a while.. 2nd one was a beauty though happened because Basa didn't clear the ball.. First half was all Laos..

And the 2nd half was all RP..

Great comeback.. Now bring it on Cambodia!

2-2. nice.

all right, we're faced in a must-not-lose game vs Cambodia. although a win is a must.

Get a loss = we're out
Get a draw = it'll all rely on Goal difference
Get a win = yeah baby. we're off to the main tournament!

Pilipinas, AHOO!

Azkals need only a draw against Cambodia to qualify for the main draw of the Suzuki Cup. Cambodia and the Azkals both drew with Laos but the Azkals won over Timor Leste 5-0 while Cambodia managed only a 4-2 win over the same team. So if it will boil down to goal difference, RP will advance regardless of the Laos-Timor Leste outcome.

I was like  when Etheridge saved it.
Khmers are doing a lot better than the Azkals in the 1st half. let's see what happens in the second

Azkals picking up the intensity these first few minutes. We definitely have the defensive skill and perhaps one of the best GKs in SEA, but we need to start scoring more goals.

...And it's a draw! The Philippines will definitely make it to the knockout stages regardless of the Laos-Timor Leste result.

It's a scoreless draw: 0-0. Cambodia was on attacking mode but very susceptible to counterattacks. Azkals cannot seem to capitalize on the counterattacks. Needs to improve on that. Almost a goal for the Azkals in the last play but still no luck.

With the draw, the Azkals qualify to the main draw of the Suzuki Cup. It's now up to Laos against Timor Leste for the Goal difference whether it'll be Laos or Cambodia to the next round.

If Laos wins by more than 5 goals over Timor Leste then they will top the qualifiers and Laos will go to Indonesia while Azkals will go to Vietnam. Otherwise, Azkals will top the qualifiers and will go to Indonesia.

Laos-Timor Leste

Laos-Timor Leste

Holy cow, a second half scoring splurge sees the home side, Laos, crush the minnows from Timor Leste 6-1! With that scoreline, Laos overtakes the Philippines as the Number 1-ranked team in this tournament due to total goals scored.

At first, I was disappointed. It would have been nice to have finished on top. But not to lose sight of the big picture, we at least made it to the main tournament. Our guys did great but I hope they get better for the big boys.

Runners-up ain't too bad considering we will play Vietnam (yikes, defending champs!), Singapore (I think we can take them on a good day) and Myanmar (we tied them last time).

See you in December! Maybe the ASEAN teams will get beaten up in the Asian Games and will be too tired to put up a good fight against Team Pilipinas!:D

I agree, I think that's way better than being on the same draw as the ever mighty Thailand, unpredictable Indonesia, and menacing Malaysia.

I don't know about the tired-after-Asian-Games-thing since, I believe, AG is an U-23(plus 3 over-23) competition. Other than Malaysia (and Philippines at some extent), I think all other SEA nations have mostly different compositions for their U-23NT and men's NT. Vietnam, for one, would most likely have a stronger team in the Suzuki Cup than the one in Asian Games.
