Pba draft 2024

  • Thread starter Thread starter r1ck2
  • Start date Start date
I have been watching some MPBL games of Justine Baltazar and I think the way he is dominating that league is similar to the manner in how Junemar Fajardo is lording it over in the PBA, it is the fact that none in their respective leagues can keep them in check and both are able to dominate through their sheer size. I think the real test for Baltazar will come when they face the SGA Manila team which has Rabeh Al Hussaini and Greg Slaughter in their line up. Im a bit skeptical though if he can tranlate his current game into the PBA, for one he has lost his touch from the outside and I think Arana is a much better and stronger post player between the two. And if let say Converge opts to field the two together the lack of a decent perimeter game from their frontcourt is a real problem for them.

And so far Chiu has been relatively healthy and doesn't have any major injuries or attitude problems. He can be a solid rotation piece which is what you should be aiming for at least if you're a contender and picking at the end of the first round.

Phoenix is the team for Chiu. They need a big and Chiu fits the bill. It will also give Chiu playing time he needs to improve more

Greg committing to Manila serves as an indication that the MPBL might be dominated by Gov Delta and SGA in the years to come.

Yes Balti’s length and height advantage in MPBL is similar to JFs height and heft advantage in the PBA. They have a physical advantage over the competition. The difference I think between JF and Balti is that JF always tries to add to his game. Even at JF’s heaviest he would do floaters and Euro step. He even improved his 3FG to be competitive in the big’s 3 pt contest. Even in the ROS game you see how he attacks Belgas defense is a combination of brawn and skill. He enjoys the comp so much he was caught smiling while posting up on Belga.

It seems to me the weaker comp is stagnating Balti’s skill. I dont see any improvement in his 3 pt shooting and face up moves. Part of it I guess is physicality. It would be dangerous for him to drive in traffic where a heavy bump might cause an injury. However, his one hander doesnt look efficient at all mechanics wise and FG wise. He needs to move on from the MPBL to better comp while there is time for him to improve his skills.

I agree Baltazar needs to improve his game when he moves up to the PBA. Baltazar wont have that luxury of having those physical advantages he is currently enjoying in the MPBL and he will have to face players that are bigger and stronger than him (Fajardo, Standhardinger, Aguilar, BGR, Rosario etc). Heck even Arana who is 4 years younger than him is a stronger post player than him. And playing in the MPBL/PSL for 2 or 3 years has been bad for his development in a sense that he has lost his touch out on the perimeter and he has become a slower player as compared to when he was with Gilas. As it stands now if ever lets say a Sedrick Barefield, Kemaka Hepa or another player from the B league like Tamayo decides to join the draft, I wouldnt use that right to pick first in the draft to select Baltazar.

But there has been a weird rumor going around that there is a possibility that Kai Sotto might enter the draft and Converge will pick him up to secure his rights. Converge then will grant him the freedom to play wherever he wants to and once he decides to finally play in the PBA Converge will be able to sign straight up.

I don’t think Converge will waste their pick just to secure Kai… I don’t think Kai will play in the PBA for years until he has no option… it’s not good idea to use their pick that has no assurance if he will commit to play for them for longer term…

B. League might be a long shot but it's a good exposure to raise Geo's stock before the PBA draft.

According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Chiu will have a tryout with a B.League club after the tournament.

In what ended up being his final year at Ateneo, Chiu played in 14 games with a total playtime of 108 minutes, totaling 19 points and 32 rebounds.

During his Mustangs debut, Chiu played splendidly, finishing with six points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

He helped Taiwan secure an 83-78 win over the Zamboanga Valientes.

too busy partying and being a "mowdel" and a metrosexual? hahaha wasted potential because of being with the wrong crowd.

What if he's the wrong crowd and not the other way around? Hahah

Wasted potential indeed, feels like he quit basketball already.

Is there no initial list yet? Only few have declared and no big names yet.

I hope the likes of Jarod Lucas, QMB, Sedrick Barefield and the Duncan bros. may re-consider applying for this year's draft.

the likes of DJ Fenner, Kamaka Hepa, Remy Martin and Boogie Ellis are a long shot due to the fact that they had better/lucrative offers playing overseas.

interesting to see the likes of Jason Brickman to un-retire and re-apply as well.

off-topic: good news to hear that LA De Vera from DLSU are officially invited to had a workout with the Diamondbacks

that kid is something.

still hoping to have a pure blooded Filipino strutting their ware in the high profile like MLB

oh dear!! baseball is really in the DNA of every Filipino but unfortunately ugly politics of yesteryears had resulted to nothing.
