Pba draft 2024

  • Thread starter Thread starter r1ck2
  • Start date Start date
Is this the deepest PBA draft class in the last 20 years? Balungay, Abarrientos, Ildefonso, Barefield, Balti would easily be top 5

Well, 2021 draft is stock too… Malonzo, Mikey, Oftana, Santillan, Stockton, Caracut, Ilagan, Melecio, Laput are stats or become major contributors in their respective teams

FIRST ROUND

1. Converge - Justine Baltazar

2. Blackwater - Sedrick Barefield

3. Terrafirma - Rj Abarientos

4. Phoenix - Dave Ildefonso

5. Northport - Evan Nelle

6. NLEX - Kai Balunggay

7. Rain or Shine - Jonel Policarpio

8. Rain or Shine - Jerome Lastimosa

9. Magnolia - Caelan Tiongson

10. Meralco -Cj Payawal

11. Ginebra - Cj Cansino

12. San Miguel - Mark Nonoy

I think SMBs biggest need is a mobile defensive PF or a tall SF. Somebody who has a decent perimeter shot but is not a bad defender. This was the weakness Meralco exploited

If I am converge I would pick Balunggay over Balti, 6'7, 24 yrs old > 6'9 29 yrs old. I even think Kai is better than him. Although if we are talking about the talent overall for this draft, Barefield definitely clears. Converge just need a big I guess.

Balti is only 27 and probably 6’7 but with a long wingspan. Yes if it is just talent it woukd be Barefield. But Balti is a loyal guy. I think that will be rewarded. TNT will gets its Mikey replacement via BW. SMC will get a tall athletic forward via TF.

In theory phoenix get a star in rj will they pass up on him.on fears that he will leave in a year or two..but rj in an indy yeam.will.be good for the league..

Damn, Kobe Paras declaring for the draft will make this the 2018er NBA draft in PBA terms. I don't think he has plans anymore on playing basketball.

The problem with Phoenix is they already have Tyler Tio and capable vets in RJ Jazul and RR Garcia. But it is hard to pass up on a guy like Abarrientos who has proven himself in foreign leagues. But the real question here is who will Terrafirma get as the third pick, Kai Balunggay or RJ Abarrientos? And rumor has it that Converge is more interested in securing Abarrientos rather than Barefield.

I thought he is 29 lol my bad. Yeah I guess he will be rewarded, I hope his ability did not get stagnant staying in the MPBL.

PBA should be the NBA copycat that they are and stick to a 2 round draft and make the rest free agents. At the very most, 3 rounds. Having 7 rounds is a joke.

If I am ROS, I will trade 1 of their 1st rd pick for a future 1st. after Kai B and Balti, there are no blue chip bigs in thr draft. Balti, Barefield, Ildefonso, Abarrientos, Tiongson, Kai B are the top 6 talents of this draft. Trading one of their 1st is fine as they are picking 1st of the 2nd rd.

Mine would be:

1. Converge - Justine Baltazar
2. Blackwater - Sedrick Barefield
3. Terrafirma - Kai Ballungay
4. Phoenix - Dave Ildefonso
5. Northport - Abarrientos
6. NLEX - Policarpio
7. Rain or Shine - Tiongson
8. Rain or Shine - Payawal
9. Magnolia - Lastimosa
10. Meralco - Nelle
11. Ginebra - Cj Cansino
12. San Miguel - Filfor?

I hope SMB gets a taller SF. I dont think theres a good defensive PF left.

The 2023 draft I think was deeper with loads of reliable bigs.

But not as star driven as 2021… only superstar material in 2023 is Holt (maybe Ricci in the future)… you have Oftana, Stockton and Malonzo as stars (Mikey too if he backs) while Laput, Santillan, Caracut, Ilagan as good contributors… their 1st pick Munzon still not yet in discussion by the way (he is contributor but as a 1st pick, he’s not living yet to expectations)… that’s how deep 2021 is…
