PBA 49th Season

  • Thread starter Thread starter Silent Killer2
  • Start date Start date
Tough to beat a team with an NBA caliber player (RHJ) who happens to be in his prime. Also, Chot knows everything about CTC's triangle offense.

tbf to Skati he did force that last turnover buy rotating behind RHJ, took RHJ by surprise losing the ball. Still not really a good 4th quarter for scotty. Maybe Ginebra may have finally solved the problem of double teaming RHJ without exposing the open man, but I fully expect Chot and co to adjust, says on the look of Chot signaling to make the extra pass. They will definitely make some plays based on RHJ getting double teamed.

That is the worst game of TNT this conference (much worse than losing to Terrafirma), they just scored 4 pts in the 2nd qtr but still able almost winning vs Ginebra, they even got that 3 pt lead advantage before JB bailed Ginebra.. that game is TNT's tempo, grind and grind game.. For sure TNT will adjust and once TNT again make their shots, Ginebra will be in trouble.. Ginebra are too nervous facing TNT... That game is also a testament that they badly missed Castro in those situations.. Castro will likely take that ball and make the situation better.. TNT will only win if they have a headway before closing games...

I've already mentioned this before,

for now the The Blitz are not yet ripe for that Gilas stint because of defensive flaws

we've seen that during his B. League stint when Yuki Kawamura schooled him many times.

the Flying A during his prime is a decent defender even in the international field despite being schooled by that fat Kang Dong Hee

alongside coach Rarara...that's the problem of a short preparation and the current stakeholders already learned their lessons.

I am a Barangay fan but on this occasion TNT has an advantage bec. they've already figure it out CTC's playbook.

and kudos that to coach DDO.

Poy needs to tighten his screw even during his BWB days he had this ballistic tendencies.

having a cuckoo in the head will only drag his team downward.

Pogoy is a choker despite one of the vets of that team, he needs to overcome that chicken inside.

RJ should really just play to shoot not to fish fouls, in two crucial moments on this finals that he has failed to fish a three point foul.

JB is injured. Didn't finish the game. Dislocated right thumb.

Do you think he can play on Friday?

GSM will be in a big deficit if JB doesn't play on Friday. I don't see them winning without JB unless there are questionable calls. The whistles are a bit already. RHJ won't get any and-1s with how the calls are going. This is half-expected as refs will try to give the dehado team a little lee-way. Allowing more physicality than if JB were there.

Did alfrancis traded the wrong guy for Ginebra, its easy to tighten a player to not play for his stats..it will be much easier for ginebra if they have one inside threat..

They also drafted the wrong guy I guess. RJ ain't it, he had like 3 straight forced shot after handling the ball all throughout the shotclock in the middle of 4th quarter. He is trying so hard to look like the prime Romeo, damn.

The inside threat they lacking would have been answered by drafting Poli or Balungay. I guess the surname is just thicker than that.

I don't get it why they went one on one rather than triangle offense. This is also the issue with TC teams, even in Asian Games stint. The difference he had Brownlee in that game. When the other team goes to switch on all ball screen he last option, one on one plays.

Ginebra should be by committee team the only mistake prev players have is you play to be mvp, you dont do that on a loaded team like Ginebra.. rj was able to orchestrate offense even without a legit pick and roll guy...Stephen holt is a all nbl team member and now not a offensive threat..Chua shouldve been patient he can have Rj and holt without giving up cstan or amybe even malonzo

RJ is smart and wiley on offense but he doesnt seem to have any physical advantage. He is not particularly fast or explosive. Which won’t be so bad if he could defend. He is one of the worst defending guards in the PBA. Just like that for TF now SMB guard. Cone doesnt like hiding players on defense. So RJ is forced to make miracles whenever he is on the floor. Because there is a big chance he will be scored on in the other end.

Al Chua and Cone just looked at the last name when drafting this guy. Well I guess they needed a PG. The best available players they alread had similar ones. So I guess why not make a marketing move. The problem with those are you know the guy had a big hole in his game. No marketing can fix that.

Their two PGs are flawed. Their starting PG is an undersized SF who cannot really facilitate.

I think if JB won’t play let Holt drive and pass more. Given the right setup he should be able to drive against his man.

the game exemplifies the organized chaos chot cannot replicate in intl setting ever since 2013... Intl teams are discipline enough to stick on the defensive game plan..lots of open guys for tnt..

Then who you will give to get them? If you talk about lopsided trades again then stop it.. reason why PBA declining due to lopsided trades of past transactions between big teams and so called farm teams... I was also wondering why they get RJ? Because they get Holt already, who can definitely play PG role plus Scottie who regularly plays PG for Ginebra.. I was expecting to get either Tiongson or Ballungay for them actually.. RJ could be better playing for other teams who need him such as ROS or Meralco.. RJ might better with that team who badly needs talent..

He looks so reckless. I have not seen anyone like him who tries so hard on isolation with fancy dribbles since Romeo's prime. Bad thing is he is not that good as someone who was called once as the golden boy.

He is so one dimensional that when his offense does not work anymore, he would be just on a cardio game.

That KBL stint really made him look good nonetheless. Although now I understand why he did not last long with his BLeague team.

Also Holt is so under utilized, this is the result when the team is so loaded that the coach don't know which player to rely on anymore.

Any bigs on the draft like Tiongson, Poli, or Balungay would have good results over RJ's doing right now.

They already have Scottie, Mav, Holt, and the other rookie guy from Ateneo, what is the purpose of getting another ball dominant guy?

Not an popular opinion, but I guess he might more flourish with DDO type of system of Chot or Free flowing offense of Tab rather than Triangle of Tim... We saw that already how he flourished with those systems who he has played for.. he needs the ball to be effective, and triangle is not that system that he can flourish.. Same what happened to Pringle when he was traded to Ginebra after stellar performance in Northport...
