PBA 49th Season

Based of Long Hair's statements, they want teams to do away with the zone. Nga naman, SMB has June Mar while Ginebra has Brownlee to attack the basket with Japeth.

If they don't want zone, why not bring back illegal defense? It forces a man-to-man, and gives leeway for camping.

Are they really serious to compete in FIBA and Olympics? If not, just give the duties to our B.League and KBL players.

Thing is, the PBA has players we need. We need Scottie, Newsome, and now CJ for defense at the guard positions. They have Navarro and Malonzo as wings who can be capable defensively. And then there's June Mar. Those guys are not easily replaced.

I don’t think PBA as a league has a remarkable 3pt shooting percentage. Now more players would attempt to shoot further and that’d eventually lead to a an even more inefficient shooting league.

PBA mistook the circus for innovation.

All these are OK for the All Star game but not the regular games. Looking forward to a FIBA ban.

The reason why teams tend to camp at the paint/play zone defense is because pba players are not known for their 3 point shooting, the 4 point shot would just lead to comical shots especially during crunch time and teams are trying to catch up a big lead.

Well atleast pogoy, oftana et al are decent shooters in the pba

Yeah Filipino players are not good 3 point shooters, this just aint a PBA thing. For some reason we dont really develop them well.

The MBA did invent the 8-second backcourt rule. It is now used in FIBA.

with the backlash i think it will not push through

I hope you are right but did the PBA even care about the backlash though? The backlash issue on farm teams have been going on for years and they don't even talk about it.

they do except about this thing, remember before they had the draft dodger rule but removed it due to the backlash from fans, the same with the draft lottery when Chito Salud did not remove his hand inside the draw box the caused controversy regarding the legitimacy of the lottery

The PBA has their non-negotiables. Like the import height limit and farm teams.

The rest are open for discussion. Bunch of retards.

But the eight-second violation makes alot of sense.

It makes sense now but it was a radical idea before like the three point line and shot clock in the early days.

The PBA will do this to stay relevant, but perhaps these rules or similar radical rules will also get adopted by FIBA and the NBA as the game evolves.

The PBA had a longer 3 point line in the 90s, longer than FIBA but shorter than the NBA. FIBA then adopted a longer line equivalent to the PBA line.

The PBA and NBA had 4 quarters before FIBA adopted it.
