PBA 49th Season

Schonny Winston & Alec Stockton deserve Gilas call up/tryout. They've both have shown promise as good size point guards.

Some posters here will say like "They might not carryover their impressive PBA game to the FIBA game". I say, how will we know if we don't try them out? They are not expected naman to deliver the same Nos. or stats in the PBA to the FIBA game. They don't have to. The most important things are their ability to orchestrate & defend (both are known to be decent defenders).

Stockton & Winston are in their mid-20's which means they have not yet reached their peak. Chances are, may e improve pa ang kanilang mga laro. What impresses me most about both theese players are their defensive skills while they both are threats in offense as well. I think these are the type of players we need in the national team - players that excel in both offense & defense.

test them first in competition like SEA Games

SEA Games basketball is too low-level a competition to serve as a gauge to our national team players. We'll, unless of course if we are talking about last year's SEA Games where Thailand & Indonesia paraded several non-FIBA eligible players & the all-import Cambodia team.

I think competitions like Jones Cup & Asian Games would be the better competitions to test their mettle.

Something must have happened between GR3 and mags, mags is usually well ran

But we're talking about coach tim.. remember he mentioned that he'll use the same core even in a lowly tournament and asian games.. so chances are slim..

But b.league and oppa guys aren't available in sea games.. kai, carl, aj, kquiam, papa dweet.. let's see if coach tim will invite stockton. But tim will look to find a center(kai), PF(carl), PF/C(aj edu), SG(papa dweet), SF(kquiam) for seag..

based on his previous choices in SEA games, Brandon Rosser on the Tamayo Role, Holt will probably get a spot for Dwight.

other spots are unknown, though if we look at the SMC umbrella, notable names are Zav Lucero, Jerrick Ahanmisi, Japeth (please no), Will Navarro, Arvin Tolentino (unlikely as Cone doesnt rate him), and maybe Brandon Bates as an outside shout.

I'm all for Phoenix tanking season as long they will get QMB, then Matthew Wright coming back for the last hurray.

Yep no point for converge and phx to be competitive when the empire flagships (smb, tnt, meralco and bgsm) plus ROS are on top of the foodchain

might as well tank and collect assets , heck if im phx, ill try to lure cstan out of TF (is he eligible to be ufa?)

There were news of him going overseas. So he might be an incoming UFA.

for players like Stockton and Winston who do not have yet the international competition experience i think SEA games is enough to gauge them than rushing them into a tougher level of competition

Mason Amos might take the aj edu spot..

I didn't watch much of Holt's game when he was still with Terrafirma or in other leagues, I never thought he is a good defender

Phoenix is tanking honorably haha, most of their games they were competitive up to certain points of the game and then boom they were suddenly getting blown out, like earlier it was tied at 97 around 7 minutes of the game and only scored 4 points in the rest of the game while ROS scored 25

Tank For QMB

Wright just recently signed an extension though. A 2 year deal. He probably might sign one more contract before returning to the PBA.

but a Tio, Perkins and QMB trio seems interesting. Mocon is really underperforming though.

Dont forget Ballungay, I think re Mocon, the level of players has increased in the PBA. id say everyone as gotten so much better at shooting the 3, everyone's gutsier at attacking the rim and more competent at defending.
