PBA 49th Season

let me guess, dave has still plans to play in foreign leagues that he can’t commit to NP in certain amount of years?

This is my guess as well. Dave was vocal during a podcast interview that he is still very open to playing overseas.

Another reason might be NP has connections with SMC, Danny I i think had problems during his latter years with SMC before joining Meralco.

They dont look happy

Thats the problem with SMC teams they tend to trade their aging stars to their farm teams once their prime is up. I've read somewhere that Juami disclosed that Stanley Pringle is looking like his Northport days. Hope he regains his confdience back after suffering some injuries.

Exactly, i wonder why tho. I mean is it because uaap is an amatuer league?

No. Think of it this way:

Bill Bayno, John Moran, Rajko Toroman, Mark Dickel, Nenand Vucinic... bawal.
Tim Cone, Alex Compton, Sean Chambers... pwede.

In some law schools, the BCAP issue is a classic case of local interest groups bribing DOLE to ban local companies from hiring foreigners for labor that a local can do. It's not like expat doctors with a specialization that doesn't exist here, expat pilots with a type-rating that can't be acquired here, or expat CFO's that can flow more capital than any local finance manager... as far as the BCAP was concerned during the champage socialist era of post-EDSA, it's just a basketball team coach. Any Pinoy can do it as well as a foreigner. They'll only allow foreigners who they like and trust. Cone lives here, Compton and Chambers played here. That simple.

Tan mentioned that NorthPort did manage to speak with the second-generation player via video conference on Draft Day, as he was in a stint with Strong Group Athletics in the 43rd William Jones Cup in Taiwan.

“Actually, nung Draft Day, within that day, nagusap naman kami via Zoom. But we haven’t seen Dave sa court,” said the veteran mentor.

When asked if Ildefonso is seeking to be moved, the 51-year-old former college coach said, “Wala naman akong narinig ganun. Wala pa.”

Tan reiterated that the NorthPort management’s offer is already on the table, and now the ball is in the court of the former Ateneo Blue Eagle.

“Wala pa. But again, yun nga yung narinig ko, the team offered a two-year, maximum contract. Pending na yun,” he said.

If TF is not a farm team they could squeeze a good 2 yr run out of pringle or cstan, or flip them for draft picks to teams in win now mode (TNT, ROS, Converge can use the two)

unfortunately its the retirement home of smc

I understand Dave wanting more that the rookie salary cap, but not practicing and showing your worth is off for me. If you are confident, show them what you are worth.

If somehow Converge manages to convince Northport to trade them Dave Ildefonso then its an indication that they will most likely not tank this season.

Pba wants to fix it's attendance issue, but season is in 1 week and schedule hasn't been released yet. How do they expect people to watch when they don't know the schedule?

vargas with the most idiotic response to the question about league parity by comparing the PBA to the UAAP and boxing both of which have no drafts, no player trades and no salary caps. And every knows it is in these aspects (Draft, trades and salary cap) that the league balance got destroyed.
