for mer personally, I had no negative reactions on that proposed 4-point area.
if we read the history of the 3-point area, many people during those early times also had some nega reactions on it...."what the hell is the purpose of that curve line anyway".
I've already mentioned it before and I won't let it go until kingdom come.
the PBA should really tweak it's eligibility rules to allow AK34 to play in the league considering he is literally a product of Philippine Education and Basketball Development since his teenage years.
the In-Season tournament should be a welcome development considering the league was also sending teams in some regional leagues with 2 imports and scrap all together that 3 conference format instead.
Honestly, I would be fine with the 4-point line if we didn't have issues with roster construction and/or tactics at college level, club level, or Gilas level. That, or if FIBA adopts it.
We still need 3-men (Navarro, Malonzo, Gabe, Oftana, Arvin), 4-men (Balti, Tamayo, Mason, BGR), and 5-men (June Mar, Kai, AJ) with international size at club level (although most likely 5 will have to be filled by foreigners), we still need to work on closing out on shooters, we need to rotate quicker, we need to better execute and defend PnR's. Even executing zones, e. Sometimes, the zone is too static, rotations are too slow. If the concerns on just getting into 4-point shootouts turn out to be valid, the issues I mentioned here might be neglected except for maybe rotating to the perimeter, and it might hurt us internationally as a result, since some key players are already playing or will play in the PBA, they'll get used to a different ruleset and court dimensions.
But realistically, for now, I don't think anyone other than Lee and maybe Bolick can hit even 25% from 4-point range. So maybe most games defenses will still defend up to the 3-point line.
