To be fair with coach leo, he inherited the franchise fresh from its petronovela days, might be a bad x and o coach but great in managing egos

Gallent actually had to play more players because the remaining death 5 are already older and some of the replacements arent as good. Leo would have peformed worse with this team. Remember Leo was the guy who couldnt maximize CS.

Coach Leo and Coach Jorge are just basically running the same system wherein they rely too much on Junemar.

This is not a super team. A super team would have been Malonzo as PF and a two way PG. Marcio and Ross are not at their peak anymore. Perez has holes in his game and cant even stop Newsome. Mo is not a PF. Romeo is also far from his prime. Trollano is just a good role player.

These are good players but as their point differential says their best 5 isnt as good as before. Past prime players and ill fitting ones does not make a super team.

That kinda speaks to SMB's poor roster construction too. Like sir Rds said, Trollano is not a 4. At 6'3", he has trouble protecting the rim. Mo is also not a good rim protector. June Mar can protect them, they can't protect him.

One too many times, I saw SMB playing 'ole' defense on drives (although that's not on roster construction).
 
So Newsome will be a free agent? Will he stay or explore options overseas?

Not really. PF who plays big and a better help defender than Mo. Similar to the role of Arwind He would gotten Trollano to play 4

That's the difference, e. The 4. Arwind was a great help defender. When June Mar's involved in the PnR, you need a good help defender behind him. Mo, Brondial, and Trollano are not those guys.

Just that, last conference, they were just so overpowered (as in, firepower advantage). I see SMB fans say on Twitter that Bennie masked their flaws at the 4 spot.

Yep. If and only if

i expect teng and manuel will be traded for quality pieces from the farm teams. SMB's loss should serve as a eye opener for SMC, stockpiling talent can be negated by great coaching and a balanced roster

Meralco has offense and bigs to counter and make JF work hard for is points. What people don't analyze is how Coach Leo, keep mixing up SMC plays making both JF a primary defenser and a decoy. He was fresh even in 4 qrt in Coach Leo offense. And not tire out in defense

Yeah, a lot of firepower, not much defense, especially the interior. TerraFirma and RoS had big games offensively against SMB. It was only masked by their firepower edge.

SMB had one good point-of-attack defender (Ross), two good wing defenders (Marcio and Trollano), and one good interior defender (June Mar). The youngest of that group is 32yo Trollano, who has trouble against bigger 4's (only MERALCO punished him for it). June Mar has trouble in PnR coverage, and there's no one to protect him.

The rest of the regular rotation, they have holes. CJ and Terrence were BBQ chicken against Newsome and Banchero when he was forced on them. Brondial's slow laterally, Mo and Manuel can't protect the rim.
 
Who will be the target of smb from farm teams?

Holt?
Jgdl?
Juami?
Kemark?
 
Gallent isn't head coach material. He could've been as an assistant coach forever and everybody would be okay with it.
 
Newsome proving the benefits of competing with international competition, also I wonder if everyone will start hiring "consultants" in their teams
