Panathinaikos 2016-17

Claver is exactly what Pao needs at the moment. We should note that next EL season is very long, so the roster should be well covered.
Pao just took four key players of two Final Four teams and incorporated them to another group of talented players. Seems like a nice job.

About Pangos, is he Slovenian or Greek (or both)? I though he was a Greek Canadian. If he is not Greek, then why would Pao risk signing a player who hasn't proven himself on Euroleague level?

Well yeah just searched it a bit and it seems that he is of Greek heritage. In case of signing with Pao,can he get the Greek passport as well?

Slovenian passport they say. That's all.

All players have not proven that they are Euroleague level until... they have the chance to do so! What do you mean by that?
And is... nationality an argument? Are we in the Greek national team thread?

Ofcourse he can play in the Euroleague. But I am not sure if he has shined enough so as to sign him for Pao. Though, if he is of Greek origin and the coaching staff believes in him, then I can understand their incentive to sign him for Pao. After all, he might be a future investment as he's only 23.

Frankly, I don't understand that he has a Slovenian passport either. If he can prove that he has Greek origin, the he can get a Greek passport. So this is rather confusing.

I didn't mean he has a Slovenian passport, but that he can get one.

We are talking about a backup solution here right? No one knows how he will deliver or evolve, but for that role I don't think that he is not even to be considered.

Okaro White to the Heat.

That leaves us with Claver hopefully. Rumors are that we are in talks all evening. Finish it!:D

Greek media start reporting that it is a done deal!

Ok now THAT is a sweet frontline.

After some point it was obvious that the Spaniard was using us to blackmail Valencia to lower his buy-out. Never mind. See you in OAKA.;)

Claver's first option has always been Spain. First Real Madrid and second Barcelona. He waited to sign with PAO until he recieved the Barça offer.

Pao still does not have a final four roster. They are not much stronger than last year. Sure, they have Bouroussis, James and Singleton, but let's not forget that Pao lost Diamantidis and Raduljica among others. The next couple of moves are crucial.

Maybe you will venture American market after players start being cut there

Maybe you will venture American market after players start being cut there

and that will probably happen. right now there are rumours in greece for manuchar markoishvili for small forward position and from within the team they say we will go for a power forward from those cut from NBA.
there are 2 issues though. we already have maximum number of non europeans(feldeine, james, gist, singleton) and we can only have maximum number of 6 non greeks.we can have more for euroleague but we can only make 3-5 changes in greek league.its not like turkey or russia where you can choose every game which 6-7-8(i dont know the limit in these countries) foreigners you will have in the 12-man roster for each game.

the first problem might be solved with a passport for mike james(there are rumours about bulgary or another country in the balkans). the second cant be solved with more than 6 non greeks because the coach doesnt want to have 2 different rosters next season, because we already have many changes and the more we make, the harder it is for them to have a chemistry all together as a team. imo we need 1 PF,1 SF and 1 backup pg,so one should be greek. during the last days the backup pg is said that it could be bochoridis and the backcourt would be: calathes, james, bochoridis, pappas, feldeine but i think it would be better to wait for rochestie to drop his salary and grab him, while keeping jankovic and not get manuchar or another one there. and after that we could wait for NBA cuts and james passport to get a good athletic and good shooter at PF(perry jones is good choice.he could be something like quincy miller this season)

after claver's loss i would like to see tyler honeycutt to panathinaikos if his move at efes is not official yet. he is the closest thing we could find to maciulis during his days at the team and he can provide good cover at both SF and PF

if the roster of Olympiakos is really definitive i believe that this year the Greek title will be green-coloured.

Final four is more difficult, i consider this roster too perimetral. But who knows, with 24 teams it would be impossible, with 16 it isn't, surprises are possible.

At the moment:

Management says they are going after one more PF and that's it. Some argue that we need one more PG.

Update the name of this thread.:D

Panathinaikos BC Superfoods 2016-17
The "superfoods" part makes the name somewhat ridiculous. Although,at the time when the team has advanced to F4, we will be used to it.

Panathinaikos has built a good roster this year, nevertheless Bourousis has to confirm his excellent Spanish performances. It should't be taken for granted, his last years in Greece weren't so brilliant. Anyway, a cautious optimism is justified.

Bourousis in PAO

Bourousis in PAO

3 games, 15 minutes per game, 8.69 points 4 rebounds... and only 0.3 assists per game, and he is an amazing passer. I don't understand why he plays only 15 minutes. He is by far the best player in PAO, the best possible leader of the team, if PAO continues giving only 15 minutes to Bourousis I don's see PAO playing quarterfinals.

As Baskonia fan, I thought that PAO was better team than us because of Bourousis, but if Bou is the third big guy in the rotation I think that even Baskonia is better. With Bourousis Baskonia would be a F4 contender, he would play 25 minutes per game being the leader of the team. Knowing Pascual I think that Bourousis will regret leaving Baskonia, he will remember his season in Vitoria as the best in his career.
