Is this correct, if we win against S Sudan we will, potentially, be playing with USA in the semifinal?
Considering we are in the same group with them, shouldn't we be in the other side of the draw?

They did all they could to make a science out of draw. Everything will be clear tomorrow night after Serbia-South Sudan game, they will do another draw for playoff teams if I understood it correctly.
 
How it looks now before draw situation will look like this:


pot 1 Usa,Canada,Germany,Serbia

pot 2 Australia,France,Greece,Brasil


i think all 4 teams from pot 1 would be favourites in their 1/4 game doesnt matter who they gonna play from pot 2

There will be 4 pots.

Pot 1: USA, Germany (they can't meet before finals)
Pot 2: Canada, Serbia (if they beat South Sudan)
Pot 3: Australia, France
Pot 4: Greece (if Serbia beats South Sudan), Brazil

If USA, Germany, Canada and Serbia all advance to 1/2, it's 50% chance that USA and Germany will play either Serbia or Canada in 1/2. I guess that will be known after draw tomorrow.
 
When you think about it, 1/4 pairings are pretty much already set.

Pot 1 will be matching teams from pot 4:

USA-Brazil
Germany-Greece
(Germany can't play vs Brazil because they already played in the same group.)

Pot 2 is matching with pot 3:

Canada-France
Serbia-Australia
(Canada can't play vs Australia because they already played in the same group.)

So what's the point of that draw tomorrow? Probably to make it clear which teams are matching in 1/2.

OMG now I remember. So Serbia has open business to settle with South Susan.

The semifinals are actually also decided by the rankings. So the draw might really be useless. I mean no draw at all.
 
I am not comfortable to admit it, but i need to say it. overall Spain deserved a spot at 1/4. The plays that were able to find with Greece and the way they fought against Canada were extraordinary. Besides Australia was obvious that they used the clock in the last (at least) 90 seconds with greece , when they realized that there's no need to push for a win, so they can assure the 10pts differential. If only they could pull that upset against Canada.

If we are into conspiracy theories, one can say that FIBA is surely happy that all the superstar names made it to the Olympic village in Paris instead of getting stuck in Lille. Spain is lacking big names :P

it's not a conspiracy theory to say the did whatever they could to secure French NT a place to Paris.
 
C'mon Serbia this is not fair. Play serious defense.
Serbia will win but with 2pt instead of 3prs difference.

Serbia did not play serious defense for.three quarters. When they played in the 4th quarter the game was over for the Sudanese.
 
Draw is in about an hour, but given the rules about no rematches the matches will probably be

USA vs Brazil
Germany vs Greece
Canada vs France
Serbia vs. Australia

The question is how the brackets will look.

That’s a coach decision. South Sudan ran out of energy in the fourth and Serbs upped their defence. SSD was very energetic at the start. You can’t keep that up for 40 minutes against Serbia.

Bogdanovic showed that he is elite in the international game. MVP caliber.

It’s not easy to beat a team like SSD when everyone expects you to.
