I'm not bashing Spain, I only believe that 47 mio, big basketball nation needs a little less help than Slovenia to be competitive.

I'm not sure that a person, who agrees with Eduardo playing for Croatia, can accuse anyone about hypocrisy.

As I said I can somehow accept if if someone like Eduardo or Dončić playes for other nation since Eduardo is product of Croatia football and Dončić product of Spanish school. It's not OK, but far more reasonable then giving some random guy passport to get a win. For me all titles Croatia won with Harkov and Garcia in Waterpolo is cheap move and will always be. Same is Brown, Smith, Langford, Tobey, Randolph....This guys have 0 conetion with these countries or their basketball

Do you really don't understand that would basically mean game over for small countries, where every good player is crucial? Spain doesn't need Mirotic, Hezonja, Bogdanovic, Doncic...to be successful. On the other hand all those are essential for more than a decade for those smaller countries. You're basically saying, because those rich Spanish clubs have enough money to lure all the biggest talents there, Spain should profiteer too? Wtf? Sure random Americans help, but they at least don't take away talented players from other European countries.

Basketball is very specific sport, where height is crucial. I believe Fiba tried to help countries with smaller pool of players to compete. 1 player won't win you anything, which was very clear in this Eurobasket, but it can help you to compete and this was probably the main reason for the rule. Give a chance to more than just a few countries.

This might interest you. Giannis says he is both Greek and Nigerian and calls himself a Greko-Nigeriano. :D

I can imagine that many Greeks cant live with this answer.

We do have our fair share of assholes but I wouldn't think that there are that "many".

What he's saying is like...a fact. "I'm born in Greece, I grew up in Greece, I went to a greek school, I speak greek but my ancestors are from Nigeria, my parents tried to instill nigerian traditions in me, language etc". There is nothing to argue against here. You can be more than one "thing" in life. Especially as the world progresses, barriers (in terms of accessibility and language) are not as high as in the past.

As fasoulaki said, if you've ever had "foreign" parents (I mean foreign to the land they are living at the moment) or if you've been an immigrant yourself or if you have some basic fucking decency and empathy, you can understand completely what he is talking about.

I don't understand the point. We all know he is born and raised in Greece of Nigerian parents. It is not unlikely that he would support Nigeria over Greece in a football match. For good fun. I remember Kosta Koufos saying he went to school with a Greek flag when Greece beat the USA in 2006. But pretty sure Koufos loves his country (US) and considers himself an American either way.

I can't say this for all Nigerian families in Greece, but the Antetokoumpo family and the country of Greece eventually are a win-win. He was born in the right country for his family to prosper in the way that he does. Quite sure he has his complaints as a non documented migrant. But all that matters is that his genetics, upbringing, determination and environment are all the result of his succes and who he is as a person. This can not be denied.
