NCAA Season 99

  • Thread starter Thread starter Silent Killer2

Jonas Napalang might also be in the mix for starting PG.

From Upis right? Any help will do as their glaring hole at the point guard spot exposed them all season long. Current knights galvez and fajardo both suffered significant injuries, especially fajardo who i heard has acl injury.

Another bedan? Yikes baka worst pa ibato sa kanya if he doesnt deliver hahaha kidding aside mayba they're better off with a letranite coach......im hearing mcjour luib has been applying as early as the start of 2nd rd. Maybe another ayo deputy in kerby raymundo or teammates chris calaguio and willie miller, who recently joined converge's coaching staff.

Haha Alex kasi is the coach of Bacoor in the MPBL which owned by Letran's manager. Miller and Raymundo are viable options too. Chris has bedan roots also, class 94 if IIRC.

Yup Calaguio is my batchmate( HS 94) . The same goes with Richie Melencio and Ronald Magtulis.

From a coaching perspective alex angeles definetely has the chops, kaya lang strike and bacoor must be wary of fan and alumni reception when it comes to hiring non letranites haha mahirap na we already saw what singing another school's alma mater can do, what more another losing season haha. Chris calaguio will be safe as long as he sings the letran hymn first lol hahaha. If they'll go with kerby or willie, they need a solid offense and defense coach, maybe poach capacio from jru haha.

San Beda making it to the final four again for the 17th consecutive season.

No.1 Mapua vs No,4 CSB are 1-1 in the elims
No.2 LPU vs No.3 SBU are 1-1 in the elims

I see the fondness of coach gold with blue collar guards

Nitura is not a blue collar. Parang tamad nga sa depensa. He’s a finesse player. I can see why there’s interest in him. I began to like the kid when he schooled Payosing and Puno in the PBA D-League. He was unstoppable in that game ala Manu Ginobili.

The NCAA right now has 4 potential Gilas guards/wings with size namely Cyrus Nitura, Art Roque, Jomel Puno and Kobe Monje.

Maybe UP can poach nitura.

Perps doesnt look like a championship caliber team unlike up.. playing time might be an issue though

Are Roque and Monje a legit 6'4"? Otherwise, they could be shooting guards in Gilas. I only know Nitura's game, which is versatile on offense (hopefully versatile enough to play point), and that Roque can shoot and has a good jump.

seems like the ncaa really is the gleague of the uaap

In terms of perception, popularity, and marketability, probably. To be fair competition got better and ratings improved. Hopefully talent level will be as good as 10 years ago, were a Ben Mbala led la salle team could not beat Ola Adeogun led San Beda in the PCCL or Fil Oil tourney.

I think Monje is too slow to be a guard.

Yes right about that height. The stark difference between Roque and Nitura is that the latter is the better ball creator and can play the combo guard position. Roque and Monje almost play the same, wings at the 3 position.

In my view, Nitura, Roque, Puno and Monje have shown potential to play wings in Gilas. Then there’s Mapua newcomer JC Recto with the same size, can play the perimeter and had some impactful games for the Cardinals.

Come to think of it, UP plays closest to how NCAA teams allegedly play. Physical (to a fault a lot of the time, most fouls in the UAAP). Hahahahaha.

I know that the hooligans and punks come mostly from Letran and JRU, but the impression is, the NCAA is more physical.

talentwise the top ncaa players can hang with the best in the uaap, it's just that outside the member schools there's hardly any interest with the league

gma even has to resort to all sort of gimmickry with its analysts and halftime segments

GMA should shape up it's sports program to avoid having an impression of being too showbiz that really turns off majority of the hardcore fans of Philippine Sports..sadly it's so low level right now..won't be surprise if they drop the product one of these days because ratings are not encouraging.

Data shows that when the JRU Heavy Bombers made it to the finals in 2008, there was a 150% increase in its enrollment. Marketing wise the NCAA is still an effective tool for member schools.
