NCAA Season 99

I hope Jomel Puno will turn out to be another Will Navarro for San Beda. (Not the one who left) Can be a utility tweener that can be a threat on both sides of the court.

NCAA is suntukan and rambulan galore. Sorry.

Just JRU. They have been like this since the Ariel Vanguardia days. Can't find the UFC compilation of JRU fouls on Youtube.

Letran, Benilde, Mapua, EAC, and Baste have lots of moments of physical altercation, one way or another.

Not csb tho lol, they're the ones pa nga being branded as soft by other fans eh haha. NCAA is just more physical than UAAP, but if you look past that, level of play have increased, escpecially this year with lots of newly hired coaches having pro experience before, while beda and csb also hired consultants in norman black and rajko toroman. Not having FSA's still suck tho.

Yeah, CSB are usually the soft guys for being mentally weak. Their fights and physicality are usually Sangco getting involved, or their players being provoked.

As for level of play, yeah, it looks good. JRU have a good system, but are dirty, like Letran. CSB have a talented lineup on paper. Beda are building almost FIBA-sized lineups. Hope they do produce Gilas-worthy and overseas-worthy prospects, and some guys here have potential.

Maybe he's referring to michael mara who punched someone from adamson during that davao tournament haha, also punched someone from ateneo in the filbasket tourney. But that's just more on his immaturity, other than that no blazer has been involved in dustups nor have they started anything. As for sangco dude will play mind games with you if you engage him pero he's more rugged than dirty. CCT dont really encourage those extra exurricular things.

For me besides jru, eac has improved a lot under jerson cabiltes, ganda na ng oncourt movement nila and they actually draw plays now. Baste even tho they're down in the standings has also been better if you see them play, for me losing yambing was that big since they lacked solid wing players that can complement their their shooters and bigs. Arellano recently has played better, leading big against lpu just to collapse at the end, going toe to toe with eac and winning against letran, this team just lost a lot of guys, their top 3 scorer from last year

I don’t get why teams/players still play those mind games. Whatever it takes to win doesn’t mean that you’ll play dirty and rough. Why not beat your opponent based on tactics and skills? At the end of the day, it’s just basketball.

If Mapua wins this year. then the 16 year drought before winning another title considering that Mapua won back to back before their drought (16x2)

Any Mapuans here or someone who is close to the players? I just wonder how do they survive 4 terms a year and having to play basketball. Is Mapua quite lenient on athletes?

Btw. Escamis is ballin’ , wouldn’t be surprised if he will be a one and done with the Cards especially if they win this season.

Mind games are fine wag lang to the point it gets dirty or they deliberately injure someone, personally im not a fan of it either, pero even the greats like mj, kobe, malone, payton, kg and others does it. The mental aspect of the game din kasi is pretty underrated.

If escamis continue to play like this through the 2nd rd, won't be suprised if he ends up being roy/mvp ala abando.

Jomel Puno starting to show what he is capable of.. Still hoping to see Jopia play like he did back in the PBA D-League.

It starts with coach randy and coach yong...they preach to be good students first.

Capt. Warren Boni is a computer engr student himself, he checks the team off the court especially on acads...paolo hernandez is a good psychology student...even nocum still studies and have units in mapua up to now, surprisingly last years point guard jayjay pido was an honor student.

You could worry less on acads on this batch of cardinals

Did you know what happened in that recent game against olivarez college? Can't find the whole vid pero from what was circulating online, it looked bad on that mapua coach

Jopia is terrible in the PNR defense. I would give his time na lang to Cuntapay and Visser. Cuntapay has same defensive deficiency as Jopia. But is a better offensive player than Jopia because he is a floor spacer with his 3-ball threat.

Maybe time for SBU to elevate JE Lopez as Tagala has not even seen playing time. He is a threat on offense and is a better defensive player. This year maybe Lopez’s best chance to crack and play more meaningful minutes with Team A. Next year lalong mawawalan ng playing time yan with Sajonia, and Calimag brothers coming in.
