Will all the players stay?

Ronquillo is being recruited by La Salle and NU.

And as per our source, Labagala is not sure yet whether he’s going to be the HC but he’s part of the coaching staff. But there’s still a chance for him to be the HC but he’s appointment as HC is not yet final. And the signing with Starhorse did happen today.

Coach Yuri of SBU has brought along Aldous Torculas in the Talk ‘N Text practices. One of the pitches that lured Aldous to the Den is the possibility of playing for the three PBA teams of MVP and also the possibility of getting employed there after his playing career.

As per Philstar, Jevy Hinoguin is now with Baste. Also expected to return is Paeng Are. Maybe he hasn’t played yet in MPBL.

Also as per that article, coach Arvin will still be part of the coaching staff. Maybe to stop Cocolife recruits from leaving. Salute to coach Arvin for doing the greatest sacrifice in order to bring back the glory of Baste.

I think Lumanag could be a prospect for other teams. A better-sized guard who defends hard and has good footwork. If he's still young, he might get looks.

Good move for baste in securing hinoguin, as ive said i see him being the next great pg of baste and eventual succesor of Are.

Speaking of paeng, i dont see him listed in any mpbl lineup so good chance he comes back for baste next season. All the the more better for hinoguin, learning under him

Recent jr mpbl champion coach jay cruz who has ties to eco green(one of benilde's minor sponsors) if im not mistaken, he was hinoguin's coach as well will also be part of the coaching staff.

Yes. Lumanag is being recruited as well by other teams.

But I hope for the majority of them to stay since coach Arvin is staying. It’s not yet clear whether he stayed coz Cocolife is still a sponsor or if it’s out of his loyalty to the school.

So really, hats off to coach Arvin. A true Sebastino and Golden Stag.

Paeng already confirmed on his FB account that he’s returning to Baste.

If Starhorse came in much earlier, Ashon could have still be with Baste. Oh well, at least the entry of Starhorse to Baste is a welcome boost. By the looks of it, I think majority of Cocolife recruits are staying.

I wonder if Team Phenom is same with Phenom Sports of Brodett.

Not sure but It may refer to the phenom clothing brand thats sponsoring starhorse at the moment. Seems like brodett naman has no qualms naman about his boys playing there in baste as one is already in the pool (markus dimaunahan). Tho personally i think its Jay Cruz who's gonna be crucial for baste's recruitment. He also has connections in the grassroots level. Not to mention brodett will still most likely prefer to bring his golden boys to bigger programs.

Is Ashton really that good? He joined three college teams (UP, UST, and Baste) but never got a spot in any of their official UAAP or NCAA roster. He just couldn't secure a place on those teams. While he might finally have a chance with Baste, we can’t be sure. It’s possible that his agent is simply skilled enough to get him into a pro team despite never playing in an official college league game. Instead, he only played in offseason leagues, which mostly feature Team B and C players.

Though he looks like he has the potential to be a serviceable in pro by being 6'4 athletic guy.

I dont think teams like up and ust would have recruited him if he wasn that good. Ashon was actually in UP's season 85 lineup. If im not mistsken he left because of the loads of players up recruited in the ensuing offseason(same time eusebio, lina and company left). While in ust its reported that he butted heads with pido'a non sense style of coaching leading him to leave.

From what ive seen of him, has that good blend of raw skills, size and athleticism to succeed. But imo seems like its either he just didnt put in the work, has attitude or mental issues leading him to bounce around.

Tiebreakertimes disclosed that it was Red Dynasty who is only sponsoring though, not Starhorse?

I feel like that’s basically the reason he didn’t secure a spot at UP at that time. The newly recruited players likely took the remaining roster spots (I assumed they were better than him than time), which led to him leaving UP.

As for UST, you might be right, but there were also reports that Pido wasn’t really interested in him. In fact, some reports even claimed he was just trying out for a spot. Let’s wait and see how his career unfolds in the MPBL. If he’s really that good, he might do well in that league.

Both are connected to jackson chua. He's the man behind the starhorse entity planning to buyout terrfirma and the one that set up a team in mpbl. He's also the owner of red dynasty. So we can specifically say jackson chua and friends are sponsoring baste

In the leadup to season 86, UP was loaded in his position, they have mark belmonte, sean torculas, lebron lopez, chicco briones above him in the depth chart. Moving out of that logjam was the smart business decision. Now moving to UST is the questionable move imo, could see it a mile away that his personality wasnt a fit in what pido was trying to do in ust so i wasnt surprise he didnt make the season 87 lineup.

From what i have observed it seems like he wants the system to adjust to him, and not the other way around and if he doesnt get his way, he slumps his play which is a big no-no for pido or any other coach especially in the collegiate level. So personally i feel like his game will be much more suited in the pros where he can be the system tho he still needs to prove it.

No UP or UST so ncaa teams have a good chance to go far in this tourney assuming they play their "A" team. Even dlsu still has some kinks to work with so NU might even come out as the best uaap team in the tourney.

I’m seeing Cocolife recruits on their FB accounts welcoming Are back. Looks like they’re not packing up. Good sign!

We’ll see in a few days if they stayed because of coach Arvin or if it’s coz Cocolife is still a co-sponsor. Next game of Baste in Pinoyliga is on March 29. Let’s see if Cocolife is still on Baste’s jersey.

I’m just not sure whether Rob Labagala is the man for the job. He didn’t even had a head coaching job before this. And now suddenly he’s the man calling the shots. But so far so good. It’s a positive development in terms of the team’s backing.
