NCAA season 101

  • Thread starter Thread starter Silent Killer2
  • Start date Start date
A heartbreaking defeat by San Juan to Caloocan in the JR MPBL DLeague. Earl Sapasap missed two crucial FTs. I think Jahmir Eligado will be a serviceable 4 in college. He plays similarly and physically like that of Joshua Guiab (JRU) and Mav Vinuya (AU).

Last weekend the Pasig Servants lost to the 6-man Zamboanga Sikat (coached by Britt Reroma). Although Pasig had avenged that loss last night, their team have Seven Gagate (UP), Adrian Sollano (SBU), George Diamante (Letran) and SJ Moore (CSB).

Mahmood is suit for NCAA anyway, a bulky undersized guy who plays as center at 6'7.

Havent really seen tape of him, does he play similar to gani stevens?

Similar but better. He was not just utilize by Pido. A typical traditional center but has decent handle and shooting. He actually wants to play as 3, but he can't maximize his skill at that position.

He’s too stiff and has poor laterals to be a 3. Not to mention his handles are not in the level of a 3. Does not have yet a reliable mid-range jumper. Best scenario for him is a 4. But currently his best natural post is the 5. Great instincts around the paint with that heft and muscle. Kinda Rommel Adducul and Justin Arana type big.

I dont think Zain is better than Gani.

Gani wouldnt be getting mins or even be in the lineup of UP. Gani was the backup 5. He could be better as hes much younger but that remains to be seen. A lot up and dlsu players are held back by playing behind a stacked team

Allegedly, Zain has work ethic issues. Isn't it surprising that he didn't end up in UP/DLSU/ADMU if he really was all that?

Gani in high school was all about football (hoops for cross-training). He's late into basketball and is just scratching the beginning of his hoops potential.

Mahmood was all basketball in high school and theoretically should have been more ready.

In a preseason exhibition tournament last year Zain was a disappointment when UST faced SBU (UST won). I was expecting more and he looked liked a project in that game.

Gani Stevens is fundamentally better. You can see from his footwork. And it explains his background from american football where you have to be disciplined in the line of scrimmage to never be flagged for either a false start, neutral zone infraction or offsides. (I’m assuming he was an offensive linemen or pass rusher).

But Gani’s older and has more games under his belt in the PH.

He played tight end and defensive end his senior year. He's mobile.

Fast hands and quick feet for a heavy guy. When he first arrived (18) he was already ready for the physical game.

Having long-arms and being a lefty is also an advantage. Lack of skills limits him to being a big, but upside is higher than most local bigs.

With the appointment of Chris Gavina (close relations with Fil-Am Select) at UE, Phenom boys might be moving soon

Him again? Dang only saw that sequence, who did he punch in baste this time? Dude really has some anger issues.

Kenji Buenaflor. The new kid. Haha Umali is actually the one shoving Kenji back and forth and Umali is the one who has the nerve to retaliate that way. Unbelievable! Haha

Umali really has the size and the talent but he really has to check his behavior in court. Even coach Malabanan is hard on Umali coz he knows his attitude inside the court.

He's been like that since forever. When he cant handle the physicality, he's throwing punches. Anyway did the game resume? Seem like most if not all of the baste bench went to the court when it happened. If they called it, that would be alot of techs against baste too.

Anyways as for umali he's back playing for benilde right now in pinoyliga againsy up team b

The verdict was not clear as there was no audio before they resume the game. But I still saw Umali at their bench but he did not return on the game. Even Kenji did not return after that.

I heard the family of Kenji will file a case and I hope for Baste to file a separate complaint in NCAA. I think even if that happened outside NCAA, Umali can still be sanctioned. Not sure about that specific rule though. I just hope for the complaints to proceed for Umali to learn his lesson. I kind of miss the physical type team of Baste. I just think the current Baste team is too soft. I hope for them to bring their physicality back minus their dirty tactics way back. Hehe being physical is one of the pedigrees of Baste.

They should, i mean he even gave him those donkey kong axe chops lol. Way waaay excessive imo. Even after all this time he still hasnt learned to keep his emotions in check, reason why i wasnt a fan of his move to benilde. He's just gonna bring distraction to the team. Its just unfortunate since shawn umali the student is actually doing really well in school.

Anyways i dont think ncaa can do anything about it. Not only was it outside ncaa, its the offseason. I think best way to handle him is just not to include him in the lineup. Benilde is all set at the position with liwag coming back, plus they still have options naman. As for umali maybe he should just focus improving himself then maybe plan on going pro, he's already 24 anyways.
