NCAA Season 100

To be honest i still see san beda as the team to beat. They still have lots of shooters and potential go to guys that can score in bunches. Just a matter of time before everyone figures out their role in the team. Siguro they're still just one capable big man away from truly being elite but nothing beats the championship experience most of their guys have from last year. Is norman black still part of the coaching staff? Havent seen him all preseason long.

Yes, Coach Norman is still with the team. He was behind the bench in some DLeague games. With the PBA season already over, expect him to attend the team’s practices again.

Nobody saw last year San Beda winning the NCAA. Even pundits crossed SBU out to make the Final Four. But Yuri shot down his critics by beating the heavy favorites CSB, LPU and Mapua to win the chip.

I know it’s a disappointing preseason. But SBU has only participated in two tournaments (DLeague & FilOil) with Team A guys. Pinoyliga doesn’t count because majority are Team B. The Ormoc tournament SBU missed a few guys like Puno, Lopez, Richi, Nygel, Etulle (in China) and Bonzalida (HS graduation).

And injuries to Tolentino and Lina have somewhat spoiled the preparation for S100. They still have a pocket tournament in Agusan at the end of this month and the US training next month to get them in sync.

Make no mistake this S100 team is good enough to be in the Final Four at the very least.

I know Jacob Cortez is gonna be your team's biggest lost but is it fair to say that losing yung big man rotation of jopia, cuntapay and visser(who still had one year left of eligibility right?) also hurt a lot? Im kinda on the fence for Lina, since his injury is lower body related, he was already a step slow even before the injury, so i have to assume his athleticism will be further affected.

Yes the big man deficiency for SBU has been discussed here since the disappointing DLeague stint.

Who knows SBU may grab a big man or two when they train in Cali next month. For sure they will invite and workout a lot of guys there.

Red Lions injury update:
nygel - groin
jomel - concussion thigh
Yuki - Ankle
Joe - Knee pain
Pay - Quads
Estacio - back spasm
Richi -impatso :D

I think it's safe to that there will be no changes regarding the FSA ban in the NCAA in the foreseeable future.

With yhe exit of Al Francis Chua in the NCAA with him goes the "for the boys" of majority of the mancom members.
GMA7 may convince the other member schools in lifting the ban.

We'll see. Im sure ncaa is aware of the growing gap between both leagues and will soon consider steps on how to catch up with the uaap. Especially if other leagues like UCAL catching up to them. Bringing back fsa's should be one of those moves.

SGA is conducting practices in benilde's gym. Some players are also included in the practice pool. Its expected they'll have scrimmage/tuneup against the blazers in the following days. Theres also talks that csb will have an offseason camp/join a pocket tourney comprised of taiwanese professional and school based teams after the jones cup.

Does anyone here know the schedule of games of mapua in Asean University Games? Is it televised?

First day games of 5x5 basketball of the Asean Uni games is on Sunday, June 30 at 1pm and 3pm Jakarta time.

There is a live stream at Youtube, perhaps same channel of the 3x3 games.

Mapua Cardinals pre-season schedule:

July 9 - July 18: Japan Universities/B2 teams pocket tournament and Incentive/Team building for S99 finalists (not sure if Boni, Paulo and others will join the incentive trip since MPBL is ongoing).

*ONE United Mapua Foundation officials is asking Clint not to entertain scouts from B1/B2 league teams during the pocket tournament

Wow nice. Who are in the roster for this tournament? Is there a new player? I assume this is the first time the team go abroad. The support from the alumni is really good for them!
