NCAA Season 100

Yup, i like him as small ball 4 but the problem is i dont think he's establishing himself to be 'that' guy or maybe the coaching staff hasnt unleashed him yet. Dude only average 7 pts in 20 mins of playing time. If he's gonna be one of the top guns, Mapua and clint escamis will need more than that for them to keep up with the rest of the contenders.

Mapua is good to go with its 1 to 4 position, the only hole that is lacking is the center spot which bonifacio vacated, fermin isn’t getting his groove yet while the others (jabonete, recto, hubilla) is quite undersized to be the 5. Mangubat is impressive while bancale improved and cuenco is steady. Other than those guys, I dont see someone who will surprise. Hopefully, coach randy hasn’t shown all his cards yet.

Hubilla will play the 5? How tall is he now?

I think Jabonete will play some 5, he maybe undersized but he dees have the strength and body for it, tas he's a workhorse pa down the paint. I like him more as a 4 tho since he has that 3pt shooting. As for mangubat i like him more than rosillo. Bigger and makes better decision with the ball. Not to mention the he has better attitude lol haha. Just need more reps as rookie to get used to the speed of srs basketball. Yam Concepcion is a good pickup for you guys too.

Escamis/Bancale/Garcia
Mangubat/Cuenco/Abdullah
Hubilla/Concepcion/Pantaleon
Recto/Agemenyi/Pabilona/Ryan
Fermin/Jabonete/Fornis/Reyno

Am i missing someone? Is asuncion, morenos and jerry rivera still with mapua?

People forget that Mapua was a sh*tty team in preseason 2023. But come NCAA S99 (2023), they stormed to the best record in the elims and top seed going into the final four.

How good is that filam recruit of yours, Macaranas? Heard you also got a ceu guy.

For S101, the Cardinals have impressive recruits (thanks to 1UM foundation, finally the alumni group funneled their resources) like Drex C 6’8” (NU), Nitura F 6’4”, Lazarte G/F 6’2”, Gonzales G 5’11” (MU/UP), Manlapaz F 6’4” (AdU/EAC), Eligado F (CEU) and Macaranas SG 6’0” (FDU-Floram).

with Eligado from CEU, he is a great scorer in CEU and Tarlac, but same as precedent players its different in NCAA/UAAP.

with Macaranas, hopefully he will be good, he is a shooter but play limited minutes in FDU-Floram (US NCAA division 1), anyone who keeps track on transferees of Div.1 players to UAAP/NCAA?

Asuncion and Morenos are no longer with Mapua, I believe they ate about to move school. Jerry Rivera has ACL.

Igliane will sure have spot, Pantaleon or Pabilona or Reyno maybe on the bubble.

They should have got Mulingtapang (Red Robis to UE) instead of Abdullah. Well, Mulingtapang has significant playing time at UE than moving to Cardinals.

Mapua will be strong for the upcoming seasons with these recruits. Hopefully, escamis stays but if he doesn’t with the arrival of gonzales, macarana, lazarte, nitura, manlapaz, drex etc. They are still be a strong contender. For this season, Igliane will be our tallest player. Hubilla needs to improve his shooting, Recto his consistency, and mapua is good to go. Lets go!

Random question. Are the Yuchengco's active when it comes to funding Mapua sports program/s?

In terms of YGC, they are providing standard academic sports funding same as other schools, they are not as supportive compared to Sys’ (NU), Montinolas’ (FEU),extra funding are coming from alumni groups EE-ECE-CoE, ME and CE-EnSE.
actually there are 2 groups supporting the Cardinals and the athletic programs, both were just incorporated last May 2024: One Mapua United, Inc. (1UM) and Mapua Alumni Global Support, Inc. (MAGC)

I see, so its the alumni guys who have been doing all the funding? Were they existent during the time of Nimes, Isit, Gabo, Oraeme? Or recently lang naging active?

nope, it just started after season 98 lang, ung multiple alumni groups were extending support. before kasi paisa isa lang.

With mapuas new recruits, we’ve seen nitura, gonzales, jimenez, elegado, lazarte, macaranas in practice or in pinoyliga. However, delos reyes and manlapaz haven’t seened with the team yet. Are they practicing already? Are they enrolled?

Manlapaz should just turn pro, dude's just gonna waste another year of residency. He's been playing in various ligang labas anyways and i dont think he'll be a big loss for mapua with nitura, hubilla and recto around next year.

His draft stock is low. I will be surprised if he gets drafted. He needs 1 good year at mapua to just be considered in the draft. Look at bonifacio, even with an impressive collegiate career, he couldnt sign in the pros.

He doesnt have to apply in the pba draft now. Theres always the mpbl and other leagues where he's already playing. Just focus there, he'll further damage his stock with another year of inactivity. Lets not forget, if he really commits to mapua, he cant play in those leagues anymore as an sgl while serving residency so he really has to attend classes and pass his subjects. He's old anyways, gonna be 24 by the time he's eligible for the cardinals next year. If he stays, he'l have to battle for minutes with the guys i already mentioned, in the pros, with the right coaching staff, he'll have the chance to be the featured player.

It will be hard for Warren to play in the PBA. He is an undersize big. While he has the same height as CAde Flores, at least Cade has an insane motor and uber athletic. Mataas din ang iq ni Cade and has a decent jumper.

Got your point, but in my opinion if he wants to go to pba, ncaa is the best route. In mpbl he might not be noticed and might get bullied by the former pros. He is still under 25yrs old, just maximize his playing years. He doesn’t have a worth college career, he might get it in the ncaa. Just enjoy college basketball because he cant turn back time. He can play in the mpbl after his playing yrs are done.

Warren can play in the pba. It’s just that teams aren’t willing to try. Maybe a poorman jervy cruz, he has developed his midrange and even shoot 3 pointers now in the mpbl.
