Diamante won't be able to play as he is just finishing grade 10. Same reason I think on why there are no news on where he will play for college.

-THANKS FOR ANSWERING SIR. I POSTED THIS A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO.

"Any Letran team insider?
Re: Diamante
Someone told me that Diamante's grades are still incomplete? They are still trying to fix it so that there will be no issues in the future.
Is this true or fake news?"

I always believed that NCAA FSAs are better than the UAAP ones. especially back in 2015 with the likes of oraeme, ola, bright, eze, potuchi, abdul wahad, laminou, holt and nguidjol.

There were also before them like Noube Happi who was a double double threat for EAC.

Nguidjol was a one and done for LPU. More impactful si Mike Harry.

Likewise. This FSA banning, as opposed to fr. vape (vic) said before, it really did harm the league more. Watching undersized bigs is an eyesore.
Just imagine guys like abando, santos and other high-flying players, posterizing these FSAs? Wooooh! The league will gain more traction in social media, which will be helpful for the league's marketability.

Hell even ligang labas have imports in their teams. The only problem with FSAs before was the poaching of the other league — Oraeme and Akhuetie. Now that more NCAA teams have backers with deep pockets who are willing to go toe-to-toe with some teams in the UAAP in terms of recruitment, then poaching is not much of an issue anymore.

The real battle now will be the scouting and even development of these FSAs. There are too many FSAs to remember there names from both league that are not as impactful as Ekwe, Mbala, Akhuetie, Oraeme, Daniels, Adeogun, Chabi-Yo, Abdul, Kouame and Diouf. See? I can only remember a few names because these are the only FSAs who really helped their respective teams, out of the hundred FSAs who played in the NCAA and UAAP.

Not to mention most of those guys have stayed locally playing as imports in various ligang labas. Call me an optimist but somehow they continue helping the development our local ballers even after their ncaa days lmao. Its not everyday you face ncaa quality bigs.

Tas some have even started a family pa with filipinas thus giving us more options for gilas in the future hahaha. Like Karim Abdul who has a son that played in that pba kids league couple of months back.

No one from my group of friends in Letran agrees with the banning of FSAs. Even the players themselves (e.g. Almazan) admitted that FSAs helped his development. I hope the school reconsiders this especially now that they have funding. in my opinion, the reason they were against FSAs before was just because we had no means to get one :D

What I find funny of Fr. Vic's statements against FSA not helping in the develooment of locals is that the NCAA have not produce a single FIBA NT quality prospect since abueva, sangalang, almazan, kmark, bolick and oftana. All of whom played with FSA prior to the ban. Those behind the ban really fckd the NCAA and its athletes big time.

did not include abando for obvious reasons. He is a naturally gifted athelete. Freakish and spent only a year . The NCAA cant claim his development.

The only players from that group that have showed their quality for the NT so far are Abueva, Bolick, and Oftana. Kemark hasn't done so yet, but he has the potential to be an NT quality contributor.

We do not have centers of international standards. Accommodating undersized bigs affects all the other positions.

The "stated" reason for the ban which is to give chance to locals is absurd. Getting cut is a reality in team sports, even now when there is an FSA ban, guys are still getting cut. If you want to be on a team, get better. You do not sacrifice the development of the elite players to accommodate for the development of mediocre players.

This and you know what other reasoning these individuals keep pointing out, these taller fsa players daw kasi will dominate, they're afraid that these guys will get majority of the awards like wtf kind of thinking is that. First of all the skillset of ours locals have gone way up compared to years past, second if these locals really want to develop and win these awards, they should work on their game more to improve, not have competition taken away from them.

For a very long time now, imports have been a way of life in the Philippines. Guys like Ginebra imports Bates and Hackett (scored over a hundred in a game) totally dominated but it didn't take the limelight away from Jawo. Pinoy fans are well aware of the difference in tier between imports and locals.

Now we have a guy like KQ who is clearly the MVP even with FSAs allowed.

Tbh the talent level in the NCAA has continued to improve from 2005. IMO the disparity of talent between the NCAA and UAAP became evident only during the pandemic season. I believed the Sbu teams, Abueva led Stags, the 2015 and 2019 Knights have shown that the league is at par with the Uaap in terms of talent.

Even the Bong Alvarez led Stags were so dominant that it man handled the Uaap Champ Ateneo. Same with the Adducul led Stags which has dominated every competition in 95 and 96.

If our bigs can't dominate the 5 because of FSA's, that doesn't mean that they can't dominate when they play the 4.

An undersized center (6'6"-6'8") is fine only if he has the combination of length, strength and athleticism to compensate for their lack of size. Kaso lang, we have few homegrowns of that mold.

I think the dominance of the Tab-era ADMU raised the bar considerably in the UAAP. UP and DLSU had to ramp up it's recruitment, training and coaching to be able to compete (and they have now caught up). In the process of all other UAAP teams trying to play catch-up, the gap between UAAP and NCAA widened.

For me they dont even have to dominate these fsa's, just focus on their own developement and help their team win in the process. Lets be real, itll be hard to stop these taller fsa but with proper development and great baskeball iq, atleast they'll be able to contain them. Recent example CSB v FEU in filoil. Was liwag and company able to stop konateh? Nope he still had a double double of 15 points and 14 rebounds but atleast they did enough for him to not to dominate in the post and almost win the game if not for that miracle 3pointer

Agree. Tab changed the recruitment landscape. Coaching? Hmm maybe to some extent.

The Ncaa has to be realistic in its approach. What it can only do is to narrow the gap. The return of the FSA is a must. IMO they should consider their stance with SGL. Its the only way to counter the money being offered by the other schools.

2 year transfer rule. Older age cut off is gonna make the field even ish

Not really long term besides Sen Pia already expressed her dissent with the new rule. The league must find ways to entice recruits to play in the NCAA. Make the league more player friendly but impose a stricter rules on eligibility.

how to entice players to go to the NCAA? raise the level of competition by allowing FSAs back and please replace the old guards of the mancom with new blood that is willing to embrace the international game

With due respect, Fr. Vic Calvo of Letran and PAul Supan of JRU need to step down. These 2 oldheads are like termites who weaken the NCAA organization for the longest time.

Haha yeah Supan is an effing d-bag. Still remembered when the amores thing happened, benilde never heard from him and when even he publicly apologized on behalf of jru, he never mentioned any of the players that was hit, or csb, he just directed it to the ncaa. Talk about being accountable lol. Atleast Amores himself had the guts to go to benide and personally ask forgiveness to the team.

They voted in favor of the ban even though they had 2 FSAs playing for them at the time. And they had a habit of making it difficult for their former players to transfer to another school. If I'm a BB player I'd think twice enrolling there

Idk what will happen but the UAAP should really do soemthing about that. It will set a bad precedent . I dont think they can impose stricter rules on eligibility right now. The ncaa has caught up once again. The pandemic years were bad basketball
