I thought the Ormoc pocket tournament is scheduled for June 17-20? UST, CSB and NU is also slated to participate.

Here’s the ad for that pocket tournament:

I stand corrected. Got mixed up with another tune up on schedule.

Ian Torres at point guard has been disastrous for CSB. 3‐4 games, costing benilde to's and runs for opposing teams tsk tsk.

Arthur Roque (Letran), Patrick Sleat (Perpetual) and Zedjay Etulle (San Beda) are lined up for Under 23 Gilas Pilipinas Team to the FIBA 3x3 Nation’s League on June 10-16 in China.

Letran adds a PG recruit from the states. Kinda surprising given the kid is from fil‐am nation, known rivals of phenom who already has loads of guys in the knights' pool.

With filoil elims done. Letran with a 7‐2 record should be the biggest suprise. Looks like allen ricardo's system is translating well for the knights. Still dont believe they're a top 2-3 team yet. They still have to pass over eac and mapua for that pero looks like they're getting there. Arellano is looking good under chico manabat's 2nd year, could sneak in a couple of wins against the top teams. While teams like LPU and JRU seems like on the decline. For lyceum, guadana really needs to take over now that umali and valdez are both gone, not having a solid big wont help them either. For jru their guards: argente and ramos needs to step up, since they wont only be losing JL delos santos, it looks like Dionisio and miranda will also not come back. Battle for the last spot should be against the rebuilding baste and perpetual.

So my way‐too‐early NCAA season 100 rankings for now:

1. Beda
2. Mapua
3. Benilde
4. EAC
5. Letran
6. Lyceum
7. JRU
8. Arellano
9. Perpetual
10. Baste

Benilde is the team to beat. They're just too loaded and most of the guys can play and guard multiple positions. I mean Justine Sanchez and Zenric Jarque arent even playing yet so they're not yet at a 100 percent. This team could adjust to play whoever is their opponent. They can play big, they can play fast, they can play inside, they can shoot threes. Defensively, everyone is too lanky and smart in anticipating passing lanes making it hard for other teams to get past them. See their games, everyone had a hard time punching thru their defense except for beda and letran. For me it a matter now how the coaching staff will be able to adjust on the fly and make the right calls on personnel and plays.

Coach Yuri is still experimenting. Nygel started PG in the DLeague but in FilOil is coming off the bench. Penny has started PG in the last 4-5 games. I’ve noticed in FilOil instead of bringing in the strongest five when opponents are making a run or expanding the lead, he leaves the second stringers on the floor to figure out how to stop the run. Sajonia in certain occasions looks lost in the system and resorts to hero-ball. And most of the new guys are struggling with the system.

I hope CYE and CJR bags a big man when they go stateside next month. Because Lina may not be ready at the start of S100.

I like nygel as your starting guard. Dude reads the defense well and makes the right decisions. Physically, he's a matchup nightmare for smaller opposing guards and wont have trouble with pressure D, add to that a killer first step and he wont have trouble blowing by defenders. On defense he's also underrated. In the game against benilde, he was the one who closed the game.

Anyways how tall is puno now pala? I dunno if its the hair, but dude looks as tall, maybe even taller than liwag haha

Jomel says he’s 6’6”. Nygel is a tall, physical and athletic PG for PH college ball standards. Those traits is what makes him also a good defender.

CSB’s version of him I think is Ian Torres. I think he’s your best PNR guy and playmaker. He killed us down the stretch on the SBU-CSB game. Like Nygel, he’s problem also is consistency and commits unforced TOs. They just have to improve their decision making.

Thomas Reid probably needs a companion hehe really surprised Letran is now recruiting Fil Fors who were technically raised abroad (so we should not consider Apreku)

Also saw a video of Thomas Reid playing in a "ligang labas" game. Kid is good. Wonder how he will compliment Jimboy tho.

Letran squires making moves.

The pg kid might actually be the 3rd filfor already after reid and cunningham who was lined up in pinoyliga lol.

Yeah actually my problem with torres is that he should never bring up the ball since whenever opposing teams would pressure him, there's a high a chance he would turn the ball over. In the game against lyceum he was -17 and had 5 to's in under 7 minutes of playing time, he was a big reason why lpu was able to catchup. Other teams have done the same. Personally i prefer guys like ancheta and cometa as the primary ballhandlers and playmakers over him tho there's no denying kid has guts and will usally make the right shots down the stretch, he's like a more refined oczon.

Nygel naman i believe needs to assert himself more on offense, as the lead guard he should be the one directing it, the way i see it kasi he defers to his teamates eh especially when more experienced teammate are om the floor.

Boss Frank making moves then feed the talent to UP

Actually the kid might be leaving for real. Upis is now integrated into the seniors program now so bo might be bringing in new recruits for jrs team who will potentially be called up for the seniors. This means less of a chance for the kid to play his normal minutes(30+ a game) that got him his stats. So he did the smart thing and move to a team that could use his scoring and a less competitive league in ncaa. So in actuality its UP giving boss frank a favor lol.
