fil-kiwi speedy guard malachi book who tried out for san beda is now with coach chambers and feu. san beda’s guard rotation is currently stacked and allowed him to tryout with other programs.

This PG position being stacked so we have to let go Malachi Book is baffling to me. Stacked nga if we go by the quantity. Pero papano naman ang quality? Madami ka ngang PGs pero ilan dun ang talagang magaling at maasahan mo? Are you going to war with those PGs? Sa PG na yan ang maasahan mo lang talaga Nygel and Eman.

Royo is still questionable for me. Can't shoot FTs even if the ring is as wide as the ocean.

Alloso has really improved offensively. His shooting is spot on. But his defense is an opposing player's wet dream.

Lecciones is a tweener. PG height with SG skills and instincts.

Colin is injury prone. And appears to have some confidence issues because of that. Sayang. Talented pa naman. Legit tall PG with good handles, exceptional dribble drive and outside shooting.

Off topic but -

BIG CONGRATS TO THE SAN BEDA RED BOOTERS!!!!

BACK TO BACK CHAMPS!!!!

Ilang taon na din naman napagbigyan si Tagala na malagay sa NCAA lineup and he knows deep inside he doesn't have the minimum skills and talent to help the team when help is needed. Locker room presence is not enough.

Are we going to pass on extremely good recruits just to accommodate Tagala again?

Every championship teams has those type of players Purefoods -gaco, Bgk- Aguilar, San Beda- Melo etc. Can't argue with success.

I seriously think Coach Yuri will not line up Tagala. IINM Royo, Tagle and Tagala are in their final year this 2024.

Maybe Yuri is allocating spots for the deserving and graduating Red Cubs guards for 2025 ( 5’8 Kirk Canete and 6’1 MJ Vailoces)

We lost more than we won with him in the lineup. Conversely, we can't argue with a bad record the last 4 NCAA seasons.

Maybe yuri will use some of the spots on graduating seniors. I mean with how deep the team is, those young guys wont prolly even crack the rotation, so to avoid wasting their year of eligibility, yuri could stack them muna in team Behold. And if Im the player, i could use that year off to focus on acads and improving my game, patiently wait for my time. Most of those transferees naman will only have 2-3 years left, not to mention some might even go pro early so theoretically the young guys will get their time maybe even sooner.

Coach charles tiu does the same, opting to redshirt some young players to further hone their skills.

Get your scouting caps ready as San Beda will host the Hoops Global Showcase (13th to 17th) with participating teams from Australia, Canada, Italy and Homegrown NBTC. Smart Communications is the sponsor.

I have been told this is the same tournament two years ago in Canada where TM Jude Roque watched and scouted Fil-Foreigners such as Jommel Puno, Shaddyn Smid, Lorrence Dela Cruz and Alex Pachucki.

Nygel Gonzales
Penny Estacio
Eman Tagle
AJ Royo
Collin Dimaculangan

That’s pretty good to me. You can even put Bryan Sajonia in there but I think he’ll play the 2 or more of a combo guard. Aside from Nygel and Penny, Tagle and Royo are more of a reliever guards. With Tagle as an spot up shooter and Royo as the Eman Monfort Role. With DMac, He could play either the 1 or 2 but I think the 2 will be more on Sajonia and RC Calimag.

SBU’s Season 100 Roster looked stack even if Jacob Cortez left.

Guards:
Nygel Gonzales
Penny Estacio
AJ Royo
Eman Tagle
Collin Dimaculangan
JE Lopez
Bryan Sajonia
RC Calimag

Wings:
Bonzalida
Payosing

Tweeners:
Puno
Andrada
Calimag, Richi
Tolentino

Bigs:
Lina
Celzo
Torres

+ New Recruits

The caption was edited, maybe they'll let the school announce the full details. They even said in caption that Sean Chambers will be a consultant for another collegiate team.

6'5 Meynard Songcuya can play the 3, 4 and 5 like Andrada. He plays facing the basket most of the time, unlike Lina. Songcuya has decent touch from the 3 point area and can inherit the spot of Yukien.

Menard Songcuya doesn’t look like he’s 6’5. Lol.

I think he’ll be a shoo in for S100 since the team lacks bigs.

All google articles on Songcuya describe him as 6'5. But the Red Lions team conducts actual measurement of its NCAA lineup. We'll know once the official roster is released.
