NCAA Season 100

  • Thread starter Thread starter Silent Killer2

Probably letran, but lsgh nah, they just came back from an 11 pt deficit. Those missed free throws were just nerves. This is where they missed a finisher like quines haha.

it’s a brickfest for both teams..

So it will be the squires' turn to miss a key player, their 2nd leading scorer and leading rebounder jhuniel delarama is suspended after a dq foul in the last game.

LSGH beating Squire by 1 and will advance to the finals..

This lsgh team reminds me of the andy gemao led squires team that defeated the twin towers of gagate and pablo 2 years ago. No legit big man, suffocating press D forcing lots of to's and all hearr and hustle fueling the team.

Coach Willlie miller appeals for the non call on a flop against podador. It did looked like he flopped but i understand where the game officials are coming from this one since the right arm of padilla was in contact of podadors gut. Just couldnt determine if there was a hit. Lets see if Fr. can work its magic in this one. If ever it is deemed a botched flop call, whats the remedy for the squires? A replay?

Safe to say that Owen is still raw as hell? Wasn't really used at all.

Just curious, does he have the same trajectory of the decent local bigs like Gagate and Demisana? Because at his age and his height now, he could have been atleast a servicable role player.

The Tagocon guy had atleast 5-10 minutes of PT and did decent in those chancss.

Not as raw as you think. Coaching staff is just doing its due diligence with his growth development, not rushing anything. He was decent in the games he played during their offseason tourneys. As for his trajectory, he still has 2 more years of hs basketball. Plenty of time to establish himself til then. With guys like quines and gomez graduating, he'll prolly have a bigger role next year. And if im not mistaken, that sharma has one more year, lsgh would have one of the biggest front line next season with the 6'6 sharma and the 6'9 calanasan roaming the paint.

We need to have better coaches/trainers for our young bigs. A lot of times they don't develop into pros or they bloom so late.

It's not surprising because 6'7+ pinoy kids are a fairly new thing. Existing coaches have no experience developing them. We can't have 5'8 trainers training these big kids, they have no idea what it's like to be a giant. Even some of our former pro bigs are not ideal.

Now if you want them to have guard skills, that's a whole different issue. They have to start training way earlier. You can't wait until they're already grown and then start training them guard skills...it ain't happening.

Weaknesses of HS 6’8 big and above are poor footwork, low motor and low stamina. Almost all of them started late playing ball.

This is where a knowledgeable/experienced coach can be useful. A lot of times, these big kids who are new to basketball needs to train/develop their body/movement first. They need to work on athleticism first. Just learn how to run, jump, stop, etc properly. Giving them a ball and trying to make them do complicated things overwhelms them, and discourages them. No sugar-coating but asian bigs are clumsy and slow, it's why they need to train their movement first.

If you get to train them really early (before growth spurt) then that's when you can overload them with other skills.

Game 1 was closer than i anticipated. That quines taunting tech was game changer and led to perps build up a double digit lead. Lsgh even tried a comeback but the perps championship experience push them for the W.

Losing podador was big, deprived the greenies one of their best wing scorer. Good thing ortega finally stepped up, he'll need more of the same in game 2 if they want to extend the series.

Atleast lsgh is stil 3-0 in do or die games this year.

GH lived and died by the zone. Also Yutuc with the brainfart taking a layup down 3. No game sense.

Thats how deep the perps are. They would rather risk an open 3 just to deny the perpetual bigs who were killing them in the post, it didnt help that their tallest guy sharma fouled out earlier.

Yutuc should have waited for a teammate and passed it out, dude was jacking bricks whole game long. He, ison and ortega(giving him a pass today for stepping up with podador gone) shouldnt share the floor, they're brain farts galore out there.

they are hs kids. None of these guys have pressure expirence.

Playing with fans in that atmosphere is new to them. They will have brain farts and its okay.

I agree, but of course as an objectice supporter i also want them to win as well. And they cant win if they commit those mistakes and not learn from them. Some of those to's were unforced like losing their dribbling even when the defender is not pressuring, miscommunication, etc. They have all season long to commit those mistakes. Now when the games matter the most, they should have already minimized it to give themselves the best chance possible.

Not to mention some of those lsgh kids already played in the finals 2 years ago. Thats why im disappointed with some of the vets, like James Ison who was already a key contributor in those twin towers led team.
