Charles and Benilde have to get it together, be composed, and adjust. Can't have the same mentality and easily-read plays in the Finals.

Kudos to the mapua scouts. I asked before how mapua will neutralize benilde's offense, this how, block the passing lanes. Force to's and kill the blazers in transition. For a team that relies to much on set plays and assisys, this how you beat them. I mean mapua isnt even pressuring them unlike the losses before, mapua's jusy doing a greeat job reading benilde's passes off.

The beda boys flopped big time. Ynot was a big negative, sanchez was only slighty better and even with cometa scoring in double digits, he had some questionable decision making on the offense. Counted around 27-28 to's, yeah they aint winning anything with that. Lots of 50/50 balls grabbed by mapua and a couple of supposed steals getting counter stolen by mapua. Add the god awful sorry misses. Yeah they have to do a lot better than this if they want a game 3. This sould go down as their worst lost of the season.

Hopefully the finals experience have finally sank in and they respond better in game 2. On the bright side, benilde has not lost back to back games, they usually come out better in the next games.

The passing lanes don't even look blocked. They're just off the anticipation of the Mapua guards.

On Sanchez, I don't know why Charles subbed Liwag off for Sangco when it was Sanchez who should have been taken off. Sanchez didn't have the best game on offense, and he was cooked on defense.

Thats been mapua's bread and butter, if im not mistaken theyve done a good job of doing that ever since escamis came in last season. Thats why even if the cardinals run a simple offense, lots of iso plays, they do by with the loads of points in transition they get from those tipped passes. Kudos too to their players for getting those 50/50 balls

Mapua was more energetic and more mentally prepared. They were the better side, simply put.

Liwag was gassed by the 2nd half. Lots of activity with the highly physical igliane and jabonete at the post. The biggest wtf decision for me was keeping ynot on the floor when he's been off on both sides of the ball today. Charles tiu only subbed him out in the middle of the 4th qtr. Oli maybe even cajucom could have done a better job against escamis. Ynot had maybe 4 or 5 to's, prollt -15 and most of escamis points came from him. Again benilde needs him in his a game if they want to win.

Good game for both teams, its good mapua caught CSB on a bad day, and i expect them to be back.

Viva Mapua!

They were, obviously better prepared and equipped. Wasnt really surprised with the loss, its more on how mapua was able to contain every fight back benilde had in the game. That for me shows growth of this mapua team compared to last year, i mean considering that most of their key vets even moved on from their team and the ones who are playing know are rookies and transferees, kudos to their staff on that.

When he does his basketball analyst duties, charles pet peeve was players missing lay up/under the rim attempts as if its mortal sin to miss those shots, this game i see almost if not all his players missing it..

Its like there's a cover on their rim lmao, like the basketball gods telling them this aint their day haha. Sorry misses, nothing they can really do about it but just to get this L out of there system. Imo i like this team better with their backs against the wall, makes them alot more focus and hungry, less stupid decisions and antics.

Still kudos to mapua and their defense, even if those shots went in, those 20+ to's and 30+ pts off to's killed benilde.

One more game for Mapua, even though they are the underdogs, they bring their A game. Should be locked in for 1 week and focus to get the job done coming game 2.

Escamis is the best player in the Ncaa

Csb just flat out choked in this game. They had more turnover than assists and most of those shots should have went in. Pretty ugly loss. Questionable coaching decision on keeping ynot who was disatrous today and opting to field morales who has been awful throughout the season while reliable vets like cajucom and turco didnt see any minutes, even guys like ondoa could have helped csb somehow with his heart and hustle. Credit to Escamis and mapua for learning their lessons from last season. But if im a mapuan, i wouldnt relax, not one bit. Especially with what happened last year, in my opinion, the pressure should be even greater on mapua now to close out the series. They cant afford to give up momentum against this csb team that will surely come out on a vengeance on game 2.

Charles Tiu honestly is gonna have to answer some questions if csb doesnt win again this year. UP has at least won one.

Charles tiu will be gone either way. He'll be with converge full time after the season so job security wont be his issue. I think its time.to give someone else the job anyways and my money is on current assistant pao layug.

In my opinion, whoever losses this series will have a lot to answer for. While this is benilde's 2nd finals appearance in 3 years, for mapua naman this is their 3rd in 4 years with both not winning anything yet. Not to mention the mapua drought has been way longer. I wasnt even born yet when they last won.

For me, there's nothing wrong with the system, gameplan, adjustments or what not, the way i see it is the players themselves that had trouble executing. I mean i wont blame the coach for the team giving up 23 turnovers on broken passes. Siguro one thing i would fault them is the preparation, like how would they ready everyone for a stage like this. Seems like most of them got rattled, especially the beda boys. Another would be questionable personnel choices. Like when someone is already giving up the game and the coaching staff still letting them play through or inserting guys that have played bad all season long or not managing minutes of key guys while some solid options are not playing, decisions like that. At the end of the day both the coaching staff and players need to do better if they want to extend the series.

You could say, as all of us saw kanina, felt like mapua just wanted it more, usually teams that play that way, win. Other than liwag and ancheta, didnt sense any sort of urgency for the rest of the guys to win which was big let down considering they were the favorites all season long. Unfortunately for them being the favorites would only get them as far.

Its his second finals. Shouldnt he be the one to prepare the players?

If they arent ready thats on you as a coach

His second time yes, but this is a different team than the one that went to the finals in season 98. Only 2 holdovers remaining from that team. But I do get where he's saying that its pretty difficult when you have new players reaching this stage for the 1st time i mean theres not much he can do really and most of the time its when the players actually play do they learn from it. I mean even escamis and most of this year's mapua core guys experience the same thing last year and thats was randy alcantara's 2nd finals appearance as well in 3 years.
