fair enough, its just that San Beda has to look at themselves in the mirror. They dont have the pull like they used to as the other teams have stepped up.

thanks.. yeaps its a learning/eye opener for the community.. recruitment is just 50%, making players stay is another equally important half...

personally, from SHS leaving to another school for college is fair game..

the difference today are established players (starters and vital cogs) who schools already invested in, suddenly transferring.. (i.e. roque, nitura, umali, rosilio, liwag, ynot, amos, cortez, sleat, omega, remogat, EAC player from arellano, cant recall..)..

for Bolick, i think he doesn't have playing time...

i dont know if true, not sure if i picked this from ibn: nitura and roque were initially offered to SBU, but was denied by team manager Roque as to preserve the relationship with Perpetual... can someone please confirm?

Geez stop being defensive. If you're not one of those bedans then you dont need to get butthurt with what i said. Anyways you said majority of your guys are homegrown so that means you still get non bedan players right? And as ive already said lets not he hyporcrites when it comes to players making their decision to play somewhere else. That wasnt the first time players will leave and that wont be the last time either. I guess you just have adapt to the times now where its normal to choose where players want to play. Anyways werent your pipeline too big? That some guys like valencia and oftana had to move to other schools because your program can only offer team b spots at best? Real talk, if you guys didnt sack inigo and company, most of those guys like sanchez, ynot etc would have stayed no problem. Instead you accuse em of what funneling ? I mean were talking about guys like serrano, mara or cajucom or morales? Those guys werent gonna make your team a after all and their people just want wants best for their kids. The best prospects would have probably stayed had your management didnt make that drastic decision and with what happened your fellow bedans still pass the blame to the kids. Lmao talk about your management being accountable lol.

I'm just saying this isn't the right place to voice your hate toward those Bedans, we get it. You hate them, I hate them too, but there's nothing we can do about them, right? Back in my day, when those old heads started chanting "squatter," we played beats to drown out their insults. I don’t know what the pep squad and the band were doing back then, but we Bedans in this forum can’t control them. We already get your point, so you can stop posting about it here. Lmao.

I didn’t have a problem when Ynot, Sanchez, and Cometa left because I knew we still had Cortez and Puno to back the team up. What I don’t understand is why Yuri or the team wants to play this year with a handicap. They chose players who aren’t ready for Team A instead of picking Lopez, Etulle, or maybe Hawkins. They could have been difference-makers for the team. If they gambled on Jopia when he wasn’t ready, then why can’t they do the same for more capable players like the ones I mentioned? but instead, we got Sollano, Jalbuena and freaking Tagala, most of them aren't ready yet to play in the NCAA.

We have capable players in team B but they chose not to elevate them into Team A. Now we pay the price.

Cant blame people for taking a better deal. Nothing is guaranteed past college and some kids like Shawn Umali project poorly in the pros. Obviously, to each his own but cant blame anyone who wants to milk college opportunities.

He's prolly one of those bedans who passes off anyone that have played even just a semester for san beda alabang as a bedan legend lmao hahs theres even that one guy who told me even escamis was a proud bedan like the guts of these people claiming everyone haha

once a Bedan, always a Bedan...

clint spent his elem years at SBCA..

agree to some extent.. being practical nowadays is a necessity..

anyhow, the new UAAP rule losing 2years of eligibility in some way means that this somewhat not totally acceptable?

agree on the player selection..

and add to that not having them play in the preseason.. i was there watching in Enderun when we fielded our team B againsts UP team A.. and we were slaughtered...

Nitura was one of the players who was offered to SBU. But Jude politely declined out of respect to Perpetual. The scions of the school are Bedans.

On another topic Red Cub MJ Vailoces has been on a tear lately being selected on the Mythical five on the last two tournaments Red Cubs have played. I hope we secure a Red Cub for the seniors in Season 101. He can play the 2 and 3 positions. But if coach Miko Roldan downsizes, Vailoces is asked to play the 4.

The new UAAP rule is pro parity but anti player

Theres no players association. So i dont know who is gonna represent the players interests in matters like this. The poaching has gone over board. Started by DLSU with Lojera and Hill. Then UP trying to poach some of DLSU’s players.

that's kinda weird. seemed like nitura was leaving no matter what so perhaps the TM could have at least had a conversation/asked for permission from the bedan scion instead of declining outright?

Liwag left because at the time eac was going nowhere. He wanted to win and not to mention eac sent his coach oliver bunyi packing. He also wouldnt have developed this good had he stayed. Him being included in the sga lineup gave him valuable experience he wouldnt have gotten had he stayed. So another factor on him leaving is for his own development. I think this also somehow applies to sanchez and ynot as well. Both wanted to play in the mpbl during the offseason but i think san beda bars it for their students to focus on acads instead. Those 2 wouldnt have developed the way they did if they also stayed. Being in the sga lineup also helped both in their own developements. Ynot last i watched im san beda was purely and energy guy that feeds on his defensive intensity, while sanchez was outside shooting trigger happy lanky kid who doesnt make smart plays. Both have seen significant improvement over the years. Ynot can now run the teams offense while still maintaining that energy while sanchez has finally learned how to use that unique blend of height and athleticism in attacking the basket. So personally i dont mind people moving or whaterever. Everyone has their reasons and most of the time, its not really just about the money.

In season 98 (Yuri’s first season), Tony Ynot was already the top 3 scorer for the Red Lions behind James Kwekuteye and JB Bahio. IIRC, Ynot averaged almost 9 points a game.

He wasnt consistently your top 3 scorer then. Cometa and cuntapay were still above him in the pecking order. Then you have some games that even alfaro and andrada were also scoring in bunches over him. He might have been scoring then but its his defense that was his calling card for your team back then, way different now the way benilde utilizes him.

Team stats say back then that Ynot was SBU’s third leading scorer after Kwekuteye and Bahio. I posted it here several times. That’s why I remember it.

Ynot was the most who gained under new coach Yuri because of the increase of his point production and 3-point attempts.

Cometa was on the verge of being overtaken by Cortez in the rotation in Season 98. You can see his minutes dwindling with the new system of Yuri compared to his minutes the previous year under coach Boyet.

All love for Benilde. But I hope Mapua sweeps them. Rooting for Escamis

Ynot was scoring more was due to his efficiency, i dont think he ever shot below 40 in that season 98, but there were more shots for cometa and had to contend with the likes of the rising cortez, his fellow transferee justin sanchez and etc.

Boy was that team loaded, had jacob's rise come earlier, i think you might have won that season.

Itll be pretty hard for mapua to win more than once against benilde considering in both games this season benilde matched up pretty well against them, if it werent for that 2nd half collapse in the second game, it could have been sweep for them. Doubt benilde will let that happen again and again.

I know mapua is hungry for a title, but so are the blazers, especially charles tiu who people seem to forget was also 1 win away in season 98. Itll just prolly come down on who shows up in the finals. But with that said, highly doubt there will be any sweeps for either teams.

Yuri came in late in Season 98 (around July), hence, the Red Lions did not have enough time to really figure out their system.

KBL’s KCC Egis, KTT and other Teams are looking to change their Asian quota player by January. They are eyeing the following:
- JD Cagulangan
- Nic Cabanero
- Clint Escamis
