NCAA Season 100

Benilde might be locked as the number 1 seed. Mapua and letran fighting for the second spot while perps and beda for the 4th spot. Still, early to tell. Just my observation.

Dont think letran is there yet but i think they should be a solid 4th seed, so i think mapua should be a lock for the 2nd spot, they're not that far off from benilde. San beda naman i think will be a lot better once everyone figures out their roles and lina comes back so i think they're still good enough for a final 4 spot. Perpetual still has letran and san beda this 1st rd. Which could also drag them down if they lose.

Worth noting tho, the consensus top 3 teams, benilde, mapua and beda all have upset losses between them. Pretty crazy considering season 100 teams should be top heavy.

San Beda is actually playing like CSB of last season. They are having a hard time adjusting to being the heavy favorites.

The next 3 games will be crucial for them. A sweep of the that 3-game stretch will defintiely change the complexion of their season. 2 out of the 3 games would still kinda make them 50-50 but winning at most 1 will most probably put them in a tight bid to even make it to the final 4.

San Beda hasnt played really well this season except for the LPU game and the 2nd Q of the JRU game. Other than that, they have played similar to their offseason games

San beda's situation is excusable tho, ya'll lost your alpha and big man rotation. Benilde had an almost intact roster save for a pg rotation. Someone here raised that maybe the preparation is the blame, like starting kinda late, splitting up the team in the preseason messed the chemistry and i kinda agree with that. Stil not too late tho just need to be a lot better in the 2nd rd.

That letran and perpetual games are winnable. The mapua one is a toss up.

Yuri tweaked his starting five after the EAC loss. He elevated Royo, Puno, Songcuya and relegated Nygel snd Payosing to the bench. It saw the rise of Puno’s point production but also saw the decline of Sajonia’s. Yuri has to tweak it again as Sajonia has been passive the last two games. You don’t want your best playmaker (Sajonia) to be passive and indecisive in the endgame. Sajonia has to have more playing time and touches to be effective because he is the more natural scorer than Puno.

But the biggest disappointment for SBU this year has to be Payosing. Numbers are down from last year. People are expecting more from him.

I expected beda to rout them to be honest. While arellano can prolly go toe to toe with them in the early quarters, i thought when the second half comes, arellano will ran out of gas.

san beda went 8 for 18 with their fts if they made maybe half that, they should have won. Arellano also got a lot of pts off to's

Should've put RC instead of Payosing in the last 3 mins of the 4th but oh well it is what it is. Instead of having Etulle or Hawkins in the line up we have we bench warmer in Tagala, Tagle and Sollano. I'd choose championship over number of playing years.

You are right sir. Btw what happened to Bonzi?

Arellano's 2nd unit outscored SBU's 2nd unit (sajonia, payosing, gonzales, calimag) 43-27...

Etulle, Hawkins, JE, Jamora >>> Jalbuena, Tagala, Sollano, Estacio

CYE is the best coach available in the MVP stable. I guess we're stuck with him at least for s100. IMO winning s99 led to unrealistic expectations for the team.

Although Ispangki is right about some players but their inclusion or non inclusion would not have made a difference. The problem lies with our core players. We are like the trailblazers of 2000's a talent laden team but with no go to guy. I dont think Sanjonia fits that role. He is not an impact player.

Letran will really make the final 4 this season. They have been improving every game, hence, gaining confidence.

How about norman black, is he not available or not fit as a collegiate headcoach anymore?

That triple OT game went way.....way long lmao in the end you could tell the perps players were exhausted. MGC didnt even play in those ot's if im not mistaken.

Why are the calimag bros not being utilized as much? Does it have something to do with their defense?

hmmm.. probably the reason why CYE is shuffling his starting five is he wants his 2nd unit to be potent as well... he is spreading the core unit thin to compensate for the lack of whatever is bothering SBU.. thus i beg to differ politely that the inclusion of some other players would have helped... Etulle, JE are pretty good creators.. Kyle has proven to be good at breaking presses.. Hawkins could continue the physical presence and intensity with Songcuya and Celzo resting..

What does SBU get from Tagala, Sollano (time context=now), and Jalbuena???

Tagle is a disappointment..

IMO if he does come back, it would be with Ateneo.

I think they're grooming someone younger like arao for the ateneo gig. They also have louie alas now right? I think he's another candidate. Other than yuri, who are good options for the team now?

CSB, Mapua and Letran can actually make it to the finals and win it all. Letran is just different with Jimboy's shot creation. San Beda may already be lucky to reach the final 4, they are just not cohesive as a unit compared to the previous season. Quinito's final 4 would be CSB, Mapua, Letran and Perpetual.

Unpopular opinion, for me it would be Patrick Fran.

San Beda’s woes in the point guard play will be solved next year with the entry of Jimmy Reyes. Not only he can score but he is really good in setting up his teammates. I was hoping Nygel would evolve this season. But his decision making is still a work in progress.

Letran is reaping the benefits of good point guard play as Nath Montecillo has exceeded expectations and has become a good table setter for the Knights.
